Welcome to Islander #316. Go to for a virtual tour of #316. The most amazing views await you from our east facing balcony of the Destin pass, the beach and one of the Islander pools. The sunsets from our balcony over the water are beautiful. Watch the fishing boats going and coming in the pass from the harbor. You can also see the fireworks they do in the summer on Thursday nights. We are located on the beach on Holiday Isle. You can walk to the Jetties and go snorkeling, swim in the gulf or build sandcastles, or just sit under an umbrella and read a book. The Umbrella and 2 chairs are free with your rental March-Oct.

Unit 316 is a two bedroom, two bath condo that has been recently updated with fresh paint and decor .Bathrooms and kitchen are fully remodeled with stainless appliances in kitchen. The living room includes new furniture with flat screen TV, sleep sofa, loveseat, chair and lamps. The master bedroom features a king size bed and master bath, flat screen TV, plus a large closet and plenty of drawer space. The guest bedroom has two twin beds and a flat screen TV. With the sleep sofa this unit comfortably sleeps six.

The Islander is in the Holiday Isle neighborhood on the Beach - the ideal location for a Destin vacation. Holiday Isle is a unique neighborhood off Hwy 98 with the Gulf of Mexico to the south and Destin Harbor to the north. There is no through traffic or congestion, but you are still just minutes away from restaurants, shopping amusement parks, and golfing.

The Islander has much to offer: our own sugar white sandy beach, two swimming pools, two hot tubs, outdoor gazebo with BBQ grills, shuffleboard, tennis courts, basketball court, and a friendly staff waiting to greet you.

Rental Policies as of July 11, 2014 Check in: The front desk is open 24-hours for your convenience. Check in time is 3 - 5 pm. Due to our high standards of cleanliness, not all units may be ready for check in promptly at 3 pm. We ask for your patience and recommend you have alternate plans in the event your unit is not ready at 3 pm. You are welcome to use the pools or go to the beach while you wait.Check out: Check out time is 10 am. A late check out fee of $100 may be charged to the credit card on file if you have not vacated the unit in a timely manner. Upon your departure, we ask that you run your dishwasher and take out any garbage. The unit keys need to be returned to the front desk when you depart. A $75 plus tax fee will be assessed for any keys not returned. Safe keys are $150 plus tax. Rates: Rates are subject to change without notice. All reservations are subject to Florida’s 11% tax and a $105 cleaning fee, and a $9.00 a day damage waiver fee. Age Requirement: The person making the reservation must be 25 years or older and must occupy the unit during the entire length of the reservation. The Islander is a family friendly condominium and we do not rent to guests under the age of 25 without a parent or guardian (ID may be required). Any reservation made under false pretenses will be subject to forfeiture of advance payment and will not be allowed to check in.Payment: A minimum advance payment of $300 is required on a credit card (Visa, MasterCard or Discover) at the time the reservation is made. The remaining balance is due upon check in. In addition to the credit cards listed, The Islander accepts cashiers checks, money orders and cash. When you arrive, a credit card will need to be manually swiped by the staff for incidentals and any damage sustained to the unit during your stay. A booking fee of $35 will be incurred when booking through the Islander Rental Office. This fee is waived by booking online.Cancellation: Cancellations outside of 30 days of the arrival date will receive a refund of the advance payment, less the $35 cancellation fee. Cancellations made within 30 days of the arrival date will not be refunded the advance payment. Long term, seasonal reservations must cancel by September 1st. Housekeeping/Linen: Your unit will be cleaned before you check in. The initial supply of toilet paper (2 rolls/bathroom), bar soap (2/bath), paper towels (1 roll), dishwashing detergent (2 packs) and garbage bags (1/can) are provided. There will be 6 beach towels provided in each unit. The Islander can provide additional maid service at the guest's request for an $100 fee per cleaning ($105 after January 1, 2015). The guest can exchange towels three times a week only Mondays, Wednesdays, and Fridays only between 8 am – 12 pm. Additional laundry exchanges can be arranged for a small fee.Parking: Each unit is allowed 2 parking spaces. Each vehicle will need to visibly display their parking pass in the front windshield. Vehicles without valid passes are subject to towing. Boats, jet skis, trailers, etc. must be parked by the tennis courts on the north side of the lot. Should parking become limited, guest vehicles will take priority over recreational vehicles (boats, RVs, etc.)Pets: Pets are not allowed at The Islander.Laundry: The Islander has a coin-operated laundry room located on the 2nd floor available to all of its guests.Non-smoking: All units at The Islander are non-smoking and violating this policy will result in a $500 charge.Gym: All guests must be 18 years of age or older to use the gym (no exceptions).

Lovely Unit

I gave this a 4 star rather than 5 only due to the shortcomings of the Islander Building not the unit itself or unit owner. The unit and owner were wonderful. Easy to communicate with and the unit was as promised. The

unit is well decorated and was pretty clean upon arrival (I did find some paper left on the floor of the bedroom containing the twin beds however). The outside area/common area needed attention and that is a management issue. Cigarette butts were strewn about, walkways were dirty, the property was very loud late into the night. The staff however was friendly and helpful when contacted (except no one returned a phone call I placed asking a question during our stay). The property is in a nice area and conveniently located to shops, attractions and restaurants. The beach and pool are short walks thru the grounds. It's a shame the management doesn't spruce up/clean up the outside and manage the night noise level.

Destin 2016

For someone who had never booked a stay through VRBO, I was extremely apprehensive. However, the owner made me feel so at ease with renting this condo. When we arrived, the condo was just as nice as the pictures shown here. We had an amazing time, and I would definitely recommend this condo to anyone!

My first visit to Destin

First, the positive. The owner promptly replied to all my emails. The unit is nicely decorated & updated. Now, for the not-so-positive. The Islander boasts their "high standards of cleanliness", but there were several OBVIOUS issues: visible collections of thick dust on the exhaust fans in both bathrooms; mold in the tile grout in both bathrooms; visible residue around the base of the toilet, and in the floor near the tub in the master bathroom; visibly soiled/stained comforter in the master bedroom; 3 of the 4 decorative balls on the brass headboard & footboard in the master bedroom were loose/crushed/broken off. I reported the brass bed issue to the front desk as soon as we checked in. Since this was a VRBO condo, the desk clerk acted as though it was a top secret mission to have the owner notified. She said a ticket would need to be sent to the owner. I asked if that's something that I needed to do. She replied no, and said the bed was supposed to be replaced. Not sure how long that takes, but the damage didn't appear recent. Last, but not least, the complimentary beach chairs & umbrella are quite the mystery. Many chairs are lined and configured along the beach. No way to tell which ones are for The Islander. My sister and I were asked to move from our original seats by one of the guys who set them up. We did, but was told by a second person that we were sitting in privately reserved seats and had to move again. I reported this to the front desk, and was told that there had been complaints for the past couple of weeks from other guests as well. Evidently, The Islander does not think this is something that deserves their attention.

Owner's Response: We take a lot of pride in our rental. Since this review, we have remodeled the condo and made several upgrades. The entire place has been painted and redecorated. The bed has been replaced. We inspire to do our best to make sure that everyone enjoys their visit and the cleanliness or decor of the condo is the least of their worries.

Beautiful condo with great views of the sunset

I really enjoyed my stay here. This condo was clean, fully updated, and much more modern than most. I love the fact that we didn't have to trek to get to the beach because we were right there. I'll definitely be back!
