Excellent view but.....

  • 2 of 5

While we enjoyed our stay in Kingston but the VRBO cottage itself was disappointing. The view is marvelous as stated and there is deck space and outdoor furniture for a crowd.

But the house itself is a curious design, small and dated. There are details that need attention: The entry deck needs to be maintained, the locks don’t work smoothly and the sofa has lost its support and needs to be replaced. Neither the washer nor the dryer worked the way they should. This is the first time we have had to pay for mandatory insurance........

The kitchen/inside dining area is so small that there is an added step-down annex for toaster, microwave and storage. We used it for breakfast only. Do note that there is just 1 bath and toilet, but there is a sink in the second bedroom.

Owners were very responsive when the washer was acting up. Both washer and dryer looked in good shape.

We took advantage of the Kingston ferry to travel over to Edmonds and drove the short distance to the Bainbridge ferry to access downtown Seattle. Great days!

Recommend the Kingston Ale House for food and veranda. Prime rib night on Thursday was great!

Needs updating and a good cleaning

  • 1 of 5

We were greeted with a decaying front deck and a strong musty smell when we entered the house. We had to clean the shower head to get water. Several bulbs were out in the overhead fixtures. Blind in the living room doesn't work. Apparently owners have been waiting for a part since May. Maybe it's time to invest in a new blind. The place could use a thorough cleaning.

On a positive note the view is beautiful.

Perfect vacation home

  • 5 of 5

Al and Kim's cottage is quaint and beautiful. We spent most of our time on the deck as the views are stunning. Eagles, woodpeckers, hummingbirds and the Aurora lights are just a few of amazing sights we witnessed.

The kitchen is fully stocked and has everything you would need to cook a meal.

Thank you so much for allowing us to spend time with our son in a beautiful space. Will definitely look forward to our next visit out west.

Nice view of the harbor

  • 4 of 5

Thoroughly enjoyed evenings on the deck overlooking Kingston Harbor with a glass of wine and cheese. Even spotted a Bald Eagle perched high on a tree next door.
