Beautiful setting with view
We had a lovely stay at Villa Gerosi. It is located in a rural position between Modica and Ragusa. Perfect for visiting the beautiful Baroque towns in the area. The villa has great views over the surrounding countryside and is away from any close neighbours. The grounds and pool are extensive. There are plenty of seating areas in both the shade and the sun. Nice and clean and well furnished. Four of us (two couples) stayed and we had plenty of room. There is a bedroom and bathroom downstairs and another 2,bedrooms and a bathroom upstairs so can easily accommodate 4 or 6 people. We were greeted by the owner (who does not speak English) but he was accompanied by Justine who does. We were easily able to contact Justine during our stay had there been any issues. There are a couple of minor points to be aware of. As previous reviewers have said the driveway to the villa is VERY narrow. We had a Citroen C2 and got up the drive without too much difficulty but anything wider would have been a problem. In the house the small kitchen has lots of crockery, cutlery and some pots and pans. But there is no kettle (which we found to be a nuisance) a tiny stand alone oven and no dishwasher. So if you are planning to cook at home be aware that you are limited by the lack of a proper oven and you’ll be washing up afterwards! This is a lovely property though and we were very happy to stay there.
great place to stay. Lovely house and garden, huge pool. Lovely quite and private location. Nearby village has all you need, a supermarket big enough to stock most of what you will need, also a bakery, deli etc. A someone previously said, don't hire a great big 4 wheel drive as you won't get down the track to the house, it is a bit narrow....
We loved it.
Peaceful, pretty location in the heart of the countryside.
If you long to experience the quiet Sicilian countryside and traditions away from tourists then this property is for you. Perfectly located for day visits to Mount Etna, The Valley of the Temples, Riserva-Vendicari (go early to enjoy an empty beach and to sight the flamingos) and evenings out in Ragusa, Noto, Syracuse and Modica.
The villa is beautifully situated and offers superb views over rolling farmland. Outside there is ample choice of seating to cater for those who love the sun and those who prefer the shade!
Mario kindly left some fresh foods and a bottle of wine on our arrival. He was very helpful when the washing machine broke and came the next day with a technician to repair it. We woke up one morning to find there was no running water, the plumber came after lunch to fix it which wasn't ideal and we had to use bottled water for washing up, hand washing and to fill the toilets.
The villa unfortunately was poorly equipped without a kettle, toaster, dishwasher or even an oven large enough to cook a pizza! The cutlery, crockery and utensils were filthy and with the lack of equipment this meant we ate out for all of our evening meals. (The restaurant just down the road was superb!) We washed up sufficient utensils for breakfasts and lunches before using them and kept these separate.
The downstairs bathroom was in need of a thorough clean, black mould was evident in the corners of the shower and smelt dreadful especially after showering when the room was warm.
We stayed for 2 weeks and the pool was not cleaned throughout our stay, resulting in an accumulation of dirt. The garden was unkempt and weedy. There was an additional charge for change of bed linen half way through our stay, which we would not expect given the cost of the rent of the villa and we have not seen this additional cost at any other villa we have ever rented.
With a little tender loving care this villa could be absolutely superb but it is currently lacking in some areas and these need addressing.
Overall we had a lovely restful stay and it didn't spoil our holiday.
fantastic villa - beautiful surroundings with superb pool
Arriving on a late flight we were met close to the villa by the very helpful Mario and Rosanna who guided us to the villa already having left very welcome platters of local dishes and drinks ready for our arrival. The villa is very modern and well furnished.
A lovely shady seating area just outside on the terrace. Very convenient location for visiting Ragusa, Modica, Noto, Vendicari Nature Reserve and many local beaches.
We thoroughly enjoyed our stay and recommend this villa.
Our rental car was luckily a compact suv so the entrance road did not pose a problem but would advise to avoid wide (rental) cars.
Would definitely return!
If you want to experience the real Sicily away from the madding crowds then this property is for you. Excellent property with wonderful views over the surrounding countryside. Fabulous pool all to yourself.
Narrow access so don't arrive in a very wide car.
Very helpful owner.
very nice stay in a very pleasant villa
We strongly recommend Vincenzo's villa. We had a very nice stay in the villa and Vincenzo is a very nice person.
The house is well located, in the middle of the Baroque Sicilia - thus you can visit the whole region easily from the house, the driving is never very long to go to all the nice places around like Ragusa, Noto, Modica, Syracusa, Piazza Armerina and we could even go to Agrigente.
The villa is clean and surrounded by a beautiful garden with a very nice view on the landscape. The vast and shaded terraces are very pleasant, we could spend a lot of time outside for lunch, dinner, reading, etc... The swimming-pool is nice and big, equipped with a diving board and very convenient with children as you can keep an eye on them when they are in the water.
But the most important and valuable was Vincenzo's attention: he came to us to show the access to the villa, he welcomed us warmly with a bottle of wine, cheese and fruits. We were quite unlucky at our arrival with a big storm which caused a long power cut in the villa and in whole area. Vincenzo equipped us with candles, made his possible going to the village to get information about the duration of the cut and he stayed with us in the villa until midnight. Fortunately the electricity came back during the night.
Eveytime we needed his help during our stay, Vincenzo has been very prompt and reactive to answer to our requests. Beyond the villa itself, this is certainly the most important and appreciable thing as you feel the attention of the owner of the villa.
Thank you Vincenzo for your Sicilian simplicity and hospitality! We keep a very nice souvenir of our stay in your villa!
The villa is located in the beautiful countryside of Modica, which is 8 kilometers, and Ragusa, 20 km away. The center is the nearest of Frigintini hamlet 3 kilometers away, offering the main services, including supermarket, bar, pizzeria, pharmacy and bank. The location is perfect for a relaxing holiday. The sea is about 30 km.
