About the property

4,700 square foot single family home with 4 bedrooms, 3.5 bath close to free bus

Take a respite from your usual life and book a stay at Falling Waters Chalet, located next to East Vail Waterfall. While our home is only a 5 minute walk to the free bus shuttle and 3 mile drive to Vail Village, you will feel like you are miles away from others when taking in the views of the Gore Valley from our large family room windows. The home is situated directly next to a nature preserve and beautiful, open field, with a gorgeous waterfall.

Within the home your family will enjoy plenty of space. It is the perfect space to make family memories, with over 4,700 square feet of living space, including a master bedroom with king size bed, en-suite bathroom, a huge closet, and a second bedroom with 2 sets of cozy twin bunk beds and en-suite on the top floor. The 2nd bedroom has a charming shoji screen as one wall which can be slid open or closed.

The main floor boasts vaulted ceilings in the large living room and family rooms, a huge dining room, 1/2 bath, eat in kitchen with game table and breakfast bar to keep an eye on the children while cooking and fresh paint. This floor also includes a laundry room with updated washer and dryer, and a kitchen with marble countertops. While the appliances are not recently updated, they have been meticulously kept. As we love to cook and entertain, you will find every pot, pan, utensil you could desire to cook up and serve a gourmet meal. The family room includes a flat screen TV with Bose stereo system.

The lower level / basement level includes a bedroom with queen size bed and plenty of windows, a full bathroom with shower that adjoins a guest suite which includes a small kitchenette, bar-height table, comfortable twin trundle bed that opens to king size width. This room includes a large flat screen TV with cable and DVD. Games, puzzles and toys will entertain the younger children. Off of the guest suite you will find a workout room with a tread-mill, TV/cable/DVD and artisan wood crafted futon coach that can pull open to create an extra queen size sleeping space when needed.

Our family of 6 love the space that the home provides and that we can comfortably enjoy our time there alone or with our friends (most of whom also have young children). You will never feel like you are on top of anyone. If you enjoy music you will like the whole house, Denon sound system.

The furnishings are contemporary, yet relaxed and all in excellent condition. The home has been well loved. We would like to welcome your family to make memories at our home that will last a life-time.

There is also a 2.5 car garage. Please note that our driveway is steep and we highly recommend all-wheel or 4 wheel drive when staying at our home. There is no street parking in Vail.

Please feel free to ask me at 202-744-9725 with any questions.

About Janelle Caplan - Owner

Our family lives in Denver, CO full time. We have elementary age triplets and a preschooler and have lived in Denver for 6 years. I am originally from Alexandria, VA and grew up in the beautiful Shenandoah Valley. My husband Michael is originally from Baltimore, MD, attended Northwestern, later taught Law at Georgetown University in Washington, DC and practiced law with several large law firms. He is now a Sr. VP at UBS.

We made a choice to change our lifestyle and move to Denver in 2008. With young triplets it took us a few years to start skiing, but after a few years we love it and the mountain lifestyle.

Janelle Caplan - Owner purchased this house in 2014

Why Janelle Caplan - Owner chose Vail

After searching for a mountain property to be our home away from the city, we fell in love with the location of our chalet and fact that it is spacious, close to Vail Village, but feels miles away from everything.

We have traveled the world, skied in the French Alps, and enjoyed some of the best restaurants. Falling Waters Chalet offers a unique combination of a world renowned ski mountain, a natural setting, but is also a location that is close to town and easy to take a bus when desired. It is wonderful.

What makes this house unique

We believe that you will enjoy the tranquility of the home. When we enter Falling Waters our energetic children seem immediately calmer and we all feel relaxed and happy while there. It is a fresh change from our normal routine in Denver.

Skiing Vail

  • 5 of 5

This home was perfect for our family. My wife and I and 3 daughters. The girls are 22.18, & 14. The house is a little quirky in the style but in a good way! Great social areas and quiet places to be quiet and read. We used the hot tub every evening after a good day of skiing. There is music piped in through out the house, which I loved! bring your favorite CD's. I liked the ability to keep the rental car in the garage, no defrosting windshields or scraping ice. Just get in and drive out in comfort. A huge plus is the house comes with a concierge service. We just called Sophie for lift tickets, dinner reservations, snowmobiling, and she even went and bought a few groceries and wine before we got there, so we had something to snack on after a long day of travels. The home has a ton of games to play at night. Overall it was GREAT! Janelle the homeowner was very easy to get a hold of if we needed anything. Thank you for opening your home.

Excellent home!

  • 5 of 5

We recently completed a fantastic stay at Falling Waters Chalet. We booked a last-minute ski vacation and Janelle could not have been more helpful and responsive from the first moment we contacted her through our stay. The welcoming gifts -- food and ski accessories -- were super welcome.

The house is exactly as described and pictured in the listing -- in short, the house is in excellent condition. In particular our three teenage sons and two teenage nephews loved the family room and the hot tub. My wife and I enjoyed the large master suite and the hot tub as well. The kitchen was well appointed and had everything we needed (service for 20+?)

The house is a short walk (<5 minutes) to the East Vail shuttle although its a bit uphill on the way back. The shuttle stop is near the local market which was convenient. We ended up keeping our car parked and using the shuttle to get to the slopes.

Would be happy to rent the house again for an even bigger crowd than we had.

Outstanding in every way!

  • 5 of 5

Beautiful home, meticulously decorated and maintained that is clearly the owners' vacation rather than rental property. Everything was immaculate. Location was perfect, a short drive from Vail and bus stop nearby. Wide open main floor with kitchen, dining room, living room, television and sitting area and work space (with internet), allowing our family to hang out together as we all did our respective things. Upstairs were bedrooms. More downstairs. As well as indoor hot tub. We have been renting high end homes for 20 years, winters and summers. This was in the nicest category. Owners and property managers were simply the best! Most highly recommended!

Please make yourself at comfortable in our lovely 2nd home. Falling Waters Chalet is a 4,700 square foot home, situated just off of the East Vail exit of highway 70 but feels like it is miles away from everything. We had been searching for the perfect mountain escape for years and immediately fell in love with the location of Falling Waters. It is close to the bus stop (about a 5 minute walk), but situated next to a field of preserved land with beautiful Booth Falls waterfall and mountain views next to our home. While staying in our home you may see wildlife such as our 3 legged moose, Maggie, and Silky the fox. While feeling far away from everything it is actually only 3 miles to Vail Village and a short walk to the free bus to Vail.
