Guestbook comments from the owner

Happy Easter! So sad to be leaving. We only stayed a couple of nights but we enjoyed every minute. The house is so cute and clean. We loved everything that came with the house - ping pong, corn hole, canoe, tree house, fire pit, etc. We enjoyed every bit of it. The kids think this house is "perfect". We all can't wait to return!

Charming and cozy

  • 5 of 5

We stayed at the house for the 2017 eclipse and it couldn't have been better. The house is small but very comfortable. When we arrived everything was clean and the decor is perfect! The garage game room has near everything. We really enjoyed being "unplugged" for a few days in this cozy country get away!

Not quite as I had envisioned.

  • 3 of 5

With the description of acreage, etc we had decided to rent a trailer and bring all of our bikes and our granddaughters Barbie jeeps, etc. Only a small portion of the property had been mowed, so there was really no room to ride bikes. The girls did ride in a small circle around the house in their jeeps. The "climbing tree" had poison ivy in it, so had to keep off of it. There were so many bugs you couldn't stay outside long without being attacked by mosquitos. Yard guard spray, citronella candles and bug spray helped a little. So really unable to enjoy the lake or fish. Too hot, even with fans, most of the time to play in garage (which was set up very well with many activities/games etc). Many bugs/spiders etc in house and garage as well and mouse droppings found in several rooms. There was a water leak from the refigerator (we think it was from the ice maker) it stopped when we "turned the ice maker off". The oven would "smoke" and set off the smoke alarm every time we used it. It also tended to cook unevenly. Also, because there was not much storage in the kitchen, we used the counter/bar area for storage. Too hot to eat at table out in garage. The TV only had about 4 channels to watch. Fortunately we brought lots of dvds for the girls to watch.

However, the house was cute and decorated nicely. Only 1 bathroom, but that was made clear in the description. The AC worked very well which was great. They had a few games, puzzles and dvds available which was nice. This was the first time we had ever rented a house (usually getting an apt or condo), so I probably did not ask all the questions I should have to get a clearer idea of what we would have versus what I pictured in my mind. The owner was very friendly and easy to reach when I called and the location was close to the state park as advertised. The owner was also very clear about it being somewhat remote from grocery store, etc. We did have a good time with our granddaughters and made some sweet memories on this trip.

Owner's Response: Hi J J, We are glad that at the end of the day you guys had a good time! We will have the appliances checked out and make sure that the cleaning crew steps up the inspection of every nook and corner to make sure bugs and such are kept at bay. It IS a large garage/play area and it is in the country so it can be tricky this time of year to stay on top of it. The climbing tree has no vines on it so I think that you are mistaken that there is poison ivy on it. As for bike riding we wish you had noticed the miles and miles of wide and scenic paved bike trails at Fall Creek Falls just 5 miles away. We use them all of the time and love them! As for the temperature being hot and mosquitoes being bothersome there is just not much we can do for you there...August in the South is just kinda that way. We are glad the cold AC in the house gave you some relief! Thanks for the thorough review...we like for folks to share the good the bad and the ugly so we can do our best make sure everyone's stay is as enjoyable as possible. We hope you guys will come back...it sounds like you might enjoy a late Fall or early Spring visit better. Happy trails!

Wonderful, cozy cottage

  • 4 of 5

Our family of four loved staying at the cabin. The game room was a favorite of the children and the adults loved the view of the pond. It was neat, clean and nicely decorated - very welcoming. Dan and Stephanie even have a good, modern collection of DVDs on hand! When we had an issue come up Dan and Stephanie were quick, fair, and understanding in their resolution of it. We would definitely stay there again.

Peaceful and cozy!

  • 5 of 5

We stayed here for a weekend for my husband's birthday in hopes of relaxing and communing with nature. What a great spot! It was very peaceful and the perfect place to clear your head. The natural beauty of the property is simple and centering. We spent the mornings on the dock drinking coffee and watching fog over the lake. In the evenings we curled up with books or board games in front of the fireplace. The house is very close to the state park and it a great place to come home to after a long hike. The family really has thought of EVERYTHING you could want here. It is the perfect cozy country getaway. We would come back!

Absolute gem!

  • 5 of 5

The house is well maintained and clean, FULL of fun things to do for the kids! The DVD player is a little glitchy, but with so much to do, we hardly needed it. We would definitely go back and highest recommendations for anyone to visit! Thank you for sharing this amazing home with us.
