Overview

About the property

4 Bedroom. 2 bath. sleeps 12. Large deck. Separate guest cottage.

Our Fox Lake cabin has been in the family for over 20 years. We love it and so will you! You and your family will enjoy unmatched privacy right on the water! They won't let you build 'em this close to the water anymore. The cabin sits 250 feet back from the dead-end road on a heavily wooded lot. No homes or cabins are visible- except across the lake. The top floor features a master bedroom with floor to ceiling lakeside windows, king-size log bed and a wood-burning fire place. Simply stunning! A 3/4 bath, another upper bedroom with bunk beds and a cozy loft with two single beds round out the upper floor. Main floor bath features an oversize jacuzzi tub. The first floor bedroom has a queen bed. The large kitchen features a dish washer, microwave oven, stove, double door refrigerator and ice maker. Other amenities include laundry room with washer/ dryer, wireless internet, and cable TV.

There is a wood burning fire place in the living room too. There is a Weber gas grill on the deck, new in 2015.

The place is not fancy, just comfortable and clean.

With our East exposure, you will experience fantastic sunrises, perfect for an early morning cup of coffee on the deck or dock. The morning sunshine feels great on those chilly Minnesota mornings. The property is sheltered from North and West winds, lots of 'calm water' off the dock.

Young children? Relax knowing the kids are safe and secure playing on the large lakeside deck- totally secured with locking gates. We installed the gates when the kids were young. A great feature with the lake so close. (The deck is so big, our kids ride their bikes and scooters on it).

Great fishing and swimming right from the dock. Ask us about hand-feeding the sunnies. They love bread crumbs. Fox lake is so clear you may see loons swimming under the water.

The swimming area is mechanically groomed to ensure a sandy bottom.

Two kayaks and a canoe are included with your rental! Fishing boats, jet skis and pontoon boats available for rent and delivery from nearby marinas.

Many restaurants, golf courses, bike trails and shopping opportunities nearby.

* Maybe the best feature of our cabin is the 'boat house'. It's been remodeled into a small guest cabin- sleeps two. Very private and special. Even closer to the lake than the main cabin. It's not for everyone though, you will need to walk about 50 feet back to the main cabin for bathroom facilities. It's worth the walk!!

About Jim & Jen Kleinheinz

Jen and Jim lived full-time at this beautiful lake property for many years before eventually moving to the Twin Cities. Now we make it 'Up North' every chance we can. Life gets busy though, with two young children to raise and careers to attend to, we are not getting to the cabin nearly enough. Jen is the owner of Jack Rabbit Properties, a real estate holding company based in Woodbury MN, and Jim is an airline pilot based in Tennessee.

It's going to be a few years before we can enjoy the entire summer at the cabin like we did in the "old days" before life got so busy. In the mean time we are happy to offer our lake cabin for short term rental. We look forward to meeting many new friends along the way.

Jim & Jen Kleinheinz purchased this cabin in 1994

Why Jim & Jen Kleinheinz chose Fifty Lakes

The sounds of Summer at the cabin are unforgettable. The frogs and the loons try to outdo each other. In the evening they can get so loud that sometimes while sitting around the fire, we just look at each other and laugh. Then there is the moon. If you are lucky enough to catch the moon rising over the lake on a warm summer night, you're not likely to forget it.

The cabin itself sits about 10 feet above lake level so it's a very easy walk down to the dock. Privacy is yours! You will not be able to see the neighbors on either side- and they won't see you. (They're friendly though if you happen to see them on the lake).

What makes this cabin unique

Gradual slope to the waterfront and just steps away make it easy for the whole family to enjoy the lake. Fish and swim off the dock!

Great fishing and sunrises.

  • 5 of 5

We enjoyed a week with our children and their spouses and our grandchildren.

The fishing was great and kept the grandkids and men very busy.

The deck was wonderful for viewing a very quiet and beautiful lake.

We hope to return.

Perfect for family groups!

  • 5 of 5

We had a great stay at this cabin - it was perfect for 8 adults, 2 kids and 3 dogs! It was clean and the kitchen had everything we needed to cook. The deck was our favorite part - we ate almost every meal out there. The gates were great for letting all the babies (human and fur) run around! The beach was also groomed so there was area to swim without weeds and the kids enjoyed the "pet" sunfish. We would definitely come back!

Awesome family vacation

  • 5 of 5

This home was so fantastic for a stay with extended family. Besides it being a quiet, lake side retreat, there was so much space to spread out and the kids were kept busy by all of the great activities at the property. One of the best parts is that we had two toddlers and the deck with a beautiful view kept them so safe and allowed us to relax. The children were also very safe inside and there was a toy chest of toddler toys to play with! We had an issue with the oven during the stay and the owners promptly had someone out to fix it.

We could not have enjoyed this home any more!

Peaceful family friendly retreat

  • 4 of 5

This property provides a wonderful place to unwind. Our family group included three generations that totaled 11 people. We were looking for a home that was on a lake, with a dock for our boat and permitted us to bring our 2 small dogs. This house fit the bill. We all enjoyed this area with it's gorgeous views, lake activities and laid back atmosphere. We also had a great time exploring the nearby communities when we weren't playing on the water.

Perfect Family Getaway

  • 5 of 5

This cabin was perfect for our 5-day family vacation. Our group consisted of three couples, one toddler, and one dog; we had more than enough space with some to spare. My husband and I stayed in the boat house, which was just one room with a double bed, and it was perfect. It was right next to the water, we could open the windows every night for a great breeze and lake sounds, and we slept very comfortably. The rest of our group stayed in the main house, and they all said that they slept very comfortably. The living room had TONS of books and toys to keep the toddler happy, which was a great bonus we weren't expecting.

The kitchen was stocked with everything we needed to cook, we used the grill every day, and the dishwasher was very helpful!

The deck is huge and so close to the water, and the dock was great for us to keep our fishing boat. The lake itself was awesome -- clear water, a sandy bottom near the shore so that we could float around, and we all caught fish! We caught pike, bass, croppies, sunnies, and even one large bowfin. There is also a fire pit with plenty of dry, chopped firewood provided, and we took advantage of that every evening.

Overall, this cabin was perfect. We are already talking about going back next summer!

Owner's Response: Thank you Sandra! We are always happy to hear that our guests enjoyed their stay! We're pleased that you were able to enjoy all the lake has to offer. The boathouse has always been one of my favorite secret hideouts. We'd be happy to have you anytime! Take care, Jim & Jen

Beautiful "Up North" vacation site!

  • 5 of 5

Our family can't say enough about this fabulous cabin by the lake. If you need your "upnorth" vacation - you get it here! This cabin sits just above the water and gives you a great view of eagles, loons and a resident osprey as they dive for fish and soar in the sky. The cabin is so cozy, clean and comfortable and worked great for our family of 11. The kids enjoyed the "pet" fish on the long private dock and didn't miss a beat climbing the 3 steps into the clear water to play. The perfectly shaded and spacious deck , with tables and seating for all , gave us good reason to linger outside all day! The cabin had kayaks - but bring your paddleboards and floating islands, because this is such a perfect location for water activities. Thank you for the memories!

Owner's Response: Jill, Thank you for taking the time to review our Fox Lake property! We appreciate your kind words and are so happy that you and your family enjoyed your stay. It's nice to hear that you guys were treated to all the usual wildlife sightings, it can be quite a show right from the deck. Enjoy the summer! Jim & Jen

Map

Try "sight fishing" on Fox Lake. Sight fishing means the water is so clear you can see the fish before you catch them. Just cast a fly or lure of your choice right on top of 'em and watch what they do. It's easy to figure out what gets a fish's attention when you can watch them react. Excellent Large-Mouth Bass, Crappie, Sunfish, Walleye and Northern Pike fishing. The kids can catch Sunnies all day long right off the dock.

Multiple championship golf courses in the area to challenge your skills. Also some "family friendly" courses that are fun and a little less demanding.
