Kick off your shoes and relax at a spacious vacation home in the woods. To get to this secluded property you do have to drive on a gravel road. It is a bit bumpy but relax, drive slowly and enjoy your ride through the woods. Once you have arrived you may not want to leave. Enjoy a cup of coffee on the porch in the morning and listen to the birds sing and watch the deer in the yard. If it is a chilly fall or winter month enjoy your cup of coffee or hot chocolate in the living room in front of the fireplace. There are many ways to spend your day - relaxing by the pool, hiking in the woods or fishing in the pond. For the kids - there are 2 outdoor play areas with swings, slides, a climbing rope and more. Also, there is a game room at the main house with a ping-pong table, air hockey table, foosball table and a hoop shoot. If you are looking for some quiet time, there are 3 televisions, each with a DVD player, in the house and an extensive collection of DVDs. There is a Wii game system. There are lots of books and magazines available and plenty of spaces in the house for reading and/or napping. There are games for the entire family and toys for the kids. Pool season is May 11 through October 1. The pool has a large deck with a hot tub and a pool house. The pool has a waterfall and there is a good supply of pool toys. There are lots of tables and chairs to relax in. The pool house has two full bathrooms with pool towels. In the pool house there is a small refrigerator and a microwave you can use for snacks and cold drinks. The pool house also has an infrared sauna. After a full day of relaxing and having fun, use one of the 3 grills (1 at the house and 2 on the pool deck) to cook a delicious dinner. When evening comes, sit in rocking chairs on the porch, watch the sunset, soak in one of the two hot tubs or relax in the sauna. Then as night falls, sit around a campfire and look at the stars. The night sky is amazing. Sleep well. Great for family reunions or a romantic weekend get away. The main house sleeps 12 with additional sleeping accommodations in the bunkhouse and the yurt (additional charge for bunkhouse ($100.00 per night) and/or yurt ($75.00 per night)). Upstairs in the bunkhouse there is a room with 4 bunk beds (8 single beds). That room has a heat and air unit which keeps that room at a comfortable temperature no matter what time of year. Downstairs in the bunkhouse there is a half bath. Guests who stay in the bunkhouse can use the showers in the main house or in the pool house. Also downstairs in the bunkhouse there is a kitchen area with a full size refrigerator (nice for large groups to have an extra refrigerator to use to store food). Also in the bunkhouse kitchen area there is a microwave for late night snacks for those folks sleeping in the bunkhouse. The yurt has 5 sleeping cots. It also has a small refrigerator. The property has a lot to offer - be sure to look at all the photos. This is a perfect place to settle in. Beautiful home and property. It was perfect for our family.
We had the house and bunk house for our group of 14 adults and 6 children. The combined spaces accommodated us all very comfortably. The house and property are very pretty. The house was stocked with everything we needed. There were plenty of towels, paper products, kitchen utensils, some nice extras in the bathrooms. There were even some fun toys and games. The owners usually close the pool at the end of September. They generously kept it open an extra week so our children could enjoy it. Between the pool, hot tubs, game room, and outside play area, the kids had a blast. We all really enjoyed our time on the beautiful porches. It was perfect for our family and several agreed they would love to come back again!
Perfect place to unwind
We fell in love with this rental. What an amazing place to unwind and spend some down time. Lots to do and keep you in the relax mode.
We loved our stay at The Lodge at Winslow. Terrific home with very thoughtful and attentive owners. Plenty of space for our large family reunion. We loved the games and pool. Lots to do. Also had a lot of fun with kids in the creek and even caught some fish. Thank you for a great stay!
We enjoyed our stay at this peaceful home tucked away in the hills of Winslow. It is the perfect place for kids. Tricky bedroom situation to consider if sharing with another family. Only one "master" bedroom downstairs. All bedrooms upstairs share one bathroom. Perfect for one family especially with younger kids! It has all the special touches of a great home away from home.
Scenic and fun getaway
The house is beautiful and very well attended with the owners living close by and checking in on a daily basis. We rented the house along with two other families and another family stayed one night with us. We had plenty of room and the kitchen, garage game room and pool/jacuzzi decks were perfect for entertaining. We were in the area for orientation at University of Arkansas and we let the "college boys" bunk in the bunk house while the rest of us stayed in the main house. There are many trails around that lead to creeks and we enjoyed running and walking on them in the mornings. The last few miles to the house are on a dirt road, but it was well kept and not a problem, just a little bumpy. It only took about 30 minutes to reach the University of Arkansas, so it was nice being out in the woods and grilling and swimming in our spare time. The house is well stocked, but it is important to plan because it is a bit of a hike to the closest stores. We also made a trip to Devil's Den, which was only about 25 minutes away. It is well worth the trip and we will be back. We did have to coordinate a bit with the bathrooms in the house because there was only one full bath upstairs for the three bedrooms and one downstairs for the master and study. The extra half-bath downstairs and the two full baths in the pool house helped, but it was a little awkward coordinating showers at first. We made it work though and I we will stay again sometime when it works out with our travels with the other families. The property was also great for our dog. She loved the walks and the pool area is enclosed, so she could roam around without us worrying she would run off. We had a wonderful time and appreciated Sherry and Ira for their hospitality.
Beautiful property, loaded with extras!
The Lodge at Winslow was the perfect place for our family reunion. It is beautiful! The thoughtful planning and attention to detail by the owners allowed us to focus on family time and enjoy our time together. I can't say enough about this property and how much we enjoyed our time there. I highly recommend the Lodge at Winslow. You will not regret it and we are going back!
We are located out in the country. This is a place to unwind and unplug. See lots of wildlife, fish in the pond, hike in the woods or if the season is right hang out by the pool. Any season is right for hanging out in the hot tub(s). If and when you do want to leave the valley, visit Northwest Arkansas. Fayetteville (about 30 minutes away) is a lovely university town with a lot to see and do - fine restaurants, theatres and movies. Visit Bentonville (about 50 minutes away), the home of Walmart and now the world renowned Crystal Bridges Museum. We are close to two beautiful state parks - Devil's Den and Lake Fort Smith. We are in the Ozark Mountains - a beautiful area in all four seasons.
