About Manzar Lari

We are expats who moved to Boquete from Minneapolis, MN, USA, in August of 2013 after building our B&B/Hotel. We enjoy meeting new people from all over the world and making sure the experience they have at our B&B and Boquete is a uniquely satisfying experience.

Casa de Montaña, Boutique Bed & Breakfast, short walk from Boquete downtown
average rating of 5.0 based on 2 reviews

Casa de Montana is the perfect place to stay if you are visiting Boquete.

  • 5 of 5

The beautiful bed and breakfast is located on the main street of Boquete, which makes it very easy to find. It is far away enough from the town center to be quiet and cozy, and the views from the rooms are stunning. We located the bed and breakfast on internet and through frequent communication with the owners we felt that we had arrived at a friend's home. The hotel and grounds are modern and classy. Each room has a large bathroom, in room mini fridge, micro wave, and even a French press coffee maker! The balcony was perfect for taking in the beauty of Boquete. The bed was comfortable and memory foam pillows were a real treat. While these amenities are amazing, the best part of Casa de Montana is the friendly atmosphere. A delicious breakfast is served each day and it's a perfect time to meet and catch up with other folks staying there. The afternoon social hour is also a very special touch. I really couldn't say enough about our stay. We went to Boquete for the Blues and Jazz Fest, but through conversations with the owners and others we realized that we would need to go back and take advantage of the other offerings such as tours, trips to an island, and many more things that Terri and Mazar are so helpful with.

Thank you for everything, including the loan of rain gear! We can't wait to go back!

Very nice place to stay when exploring Boquete

  • 5 of 5

This is a clean, modern and well maintained property just outside of the main area of Boquete. It's close enough to walk down the hill and be in the center of town in only a few minutes, and a cheap taxi ride up the hill at the end of the evening. The hosts, Manzar and Terry are very helpful and charming, and the (free!) evening glass of wine or beer is a nice way to get to know the other guests. Going down the hill gets you to town, and going up the hill takes you up to the coffee plantations and rainforest preserves. Lots of good walks right out the front door. If you want to venture a little further, or just don't want to walk, Manzar and Terry will set you up with a driver to take you to nearby attractions.

We thoroughly enjoyed our time at the Casa de Montaña, and would recommend it to anyone who's planning a trip to Boquete.

The main features of Boquete include:

A year-round temperature in the low 20s (low seventies Fahrenheit) with fresh mountain air.

Significant North American expat community and tourist destination, which brings with it a wide range of amenities from which to choose, ranging from hostels to luxury, health spas, reliable infrastructure, with English very widely spoken.

A small town, with a small town atmosphere, surrounded by relatively untouched natural beauty.

The ability, if you choose to venture away from the town, to visit rural, traditional Panama. The beaches are just an hour away.

An abundance of outdoor activities, including zip lining, bird watching, rafting, hiking, and golf.

World famous coffee plantations.

Lots of spas and other health-related facilities.

Up until the early 2000’s, Boquete was a sleepy, almost completely unknown and unremarkable agriculture-based mountain village with almost zero tourism and very few people living in the area whose families hadn’t been there for generations. That changed with a series of events starting with the creation of Valle Escondido, a large residential development aimed at expats. Around the same time, several magazines devoted to people considering to relocates began to flourish, with one of the most popular very regularly touting Boquete as “the land of eternal springtime”.

As a result of the publicity and the natural beauty and temperate climate of Boquete, it became, arguably, the best known North American expat destination in the world, as a large expat community developed.

Boquete is a very cozy mountain village and easily explored on foot. Guided tours through the mountains to see waterfalls, coffee plantations, the cloud forest, white water rafting, and the Volcán Barú National Park are available.
