About Adam Schrager

We've been renting homes at Lake Anna for years now, dreaming of the day we could afford the perfect home to purchase. We finally stumbled onto this great property that was on the water, fantastic boathouse that was close to the house itself, lots of places to entertain and board guests, wooded and private.

Adam Schrager purchased this house in 2014

Why Adam Schrager chose Central Virginia

We liked the idea of a gated community where we could get to know the neighbors but not feel like anyone was right on top of us. With 1.8 acres we hardly see anyone and when you step out onto the massive covered porch with your cup of coffee and can hear the birds chirping and the squirrels playing and when you see the occasional Bald Eagle you will know exactly what I mean. We have 2 large bedrooms with King beds, a bedroom with a queen over queen bunk bed with full size stairs and a room with a twin over queen with full size stairs which makes it very easy for anyone to get up and down. We also have a trundle bed with two twins and two couches that are very comfortable for sleeping, which I myself have spent some time on.

****Coming Soon**** Newly renovated basement that will have two brand new kind suites with two beautifully designed bathrooms that connect directly to the bedrooms. Each bathroom will have double vanity's, separate toilet room and stand up showers. The TV Room which can be used as a 7th bedroom boast two built in buns, one that is a queen over queen and one that is a twin over twin. There are full size stairs built to the upper bunks so even adults can easily sleep there. There is also a trundle bed which contains two twin beds. This room also boasts a 60" lcd tv with 7.1 surround sound, dvd player as well as speakers attached to the whole house audio system.

What makes this house unique

When we were looking for houses we wanted to make sure there was a sandpit for our two girls to play in because inevitably that would provide Mom and Dad plenty of time for peace and quiet (most of the time :). We wanted the water to be deep enough to get our boat in and out but shallow enough for small kids to be able to stand/sit at the waters edge. We didnt want to have to walk 1/2 a mile to the boathouse because it a pain to lug all that stuff around. Our house is situated as close as we are allowed to have it to the water. We also didnt need a huge house when we know were were going to spend most of our time on the porch and at the boathouse. This house has a wonderful use of space which focuses on sleeping alot of people very comfortably and still have an open floor plan in the kitchen, breakfast area and family room and separate tv area in the back of the house so to provide some separation during those days where the weather might not be so good. We also didnt want alot of boat traffic so that we didnt have to worry about the kids and deal with high wakes all the time. We are at the end of a cove in a wake free area which minimizes that risk.

A great place to gather

  • 5 of 5

We had a group of 14 at this house on a lovely October weekend and the property was perfect for gathering, enjoying the outdoors, and housing big groups. Adam was very responsive and helpful, and we had a super memorable weekend at his great lakeside property.

Relaxing and quite get away

  • 5 of 5

First and foremost, the owner is incredibly responsive to questions before and during the stay.

If we were looking to vacation on Lake Anna again, would we come back? Yes.

The house worked well for a family get away with small children. The flow from the porch to the main living area worked well in the cooler months where the kids could play inside and out.

The newly renovated area downstairs was well done and there were plenty of bedrooms that could accommodate our family (7 adults and 4 kids). The kitchen was stocked with what we needed to cook for the weekend with ample fridge space (up and down) to hold groceries with plenty of room to spare.

Unfortunately it was not a great weekend to enjoy outdoor activities, but the kids were able to enjoy the swing set and run around a bit between the house and the lake. If the weather had been nicer, the walk in "beach" area would have been heavily used.

Super Awesome Place to Stay!

  • 5 of 5

This place was HUGE and we had so much fun here! Plenty of places to sleep. We had 25 people and there were several beds that we didn't even use! Very clean and beautiful, plenty of kitchen wear to use, plenty of seating for meals, good air conditioning, and TVs in almost every room! Outside was beautiful-- nice beach and umbrellas, white sand, and super nice fire pit. We loved it and made such good memories there with family and friends!!!

Beautiful, private home with a ton of extras!

  • 5 of 5

We couldn't have asked for a more beautiful home to spend the holiday weekend! There were so many extras like the comfortable beds, large kitchen with brand new appliances, a stunning fire pit, fish feeder to make fishing special for the kids, game room and wet bar in the newly fininshed walk out basement, playground, volleyball, tether ball and sand/beach area for the kids. The swim access can't be beat- it was private and the water slide was a hit with the kids. This house has an amazing view of the sunset and plenty of shade from trees and conveniently placed umbrellas and awnings.

Adam was great to work with and went the extra mile to make our trip stress free. He returned e-mails promptly and professionally. Can't wait to come back!!

Not ideal for work retreats but a great place for family trips

  • 4 of 5

We stayed at Adam's family property on Lake Anna for our annual work retreat. One of my colleagues brought her four-year-old daughter, and there was lots to do on the property to keep her entertained during our meetings (playground, paddle boat, basement with games, etc.). That being said, it wasn't the perfect set-up for a work retreat. I think we tried to fit too many people in the house (although it sleeps a ton), but it was quite a tight fit with having so many adults share only a few bathrooms. Also, the living room wasn't as large as we thought, so we had to go to our second house that we rented (only 5 minutes down the road) to host our all-day meetings. It was tight with six people in the living room and we needed a space for 16 people one day. Also, the washing of the linens was a bit inconvenient even though I paid a pro-rated cleaning fee. In the future, it would be nice to rent from Lake Anna Linens so that's one less thing we needed to worry about the day we were trying to check out (which is what we did at the second house). This house is perfect for family trips and weekend getaways with friends but wasn't the best equipped for a work retreat in terms of meeting space. Thanks for working with us, Adam!

Owner's Response: True, this property is not setup for conferences. We did do everything we could to accommodate all of this group's requests, including early and late checkin and checkout times, which we usually don't do because it interferes with ability to get the home ready for the next family coming in. Full linen service was available but since we granted a late checkout time, that was not possible. The screened in porch would have been the best choice to congregate since there is seating for 25 or more.
