About the property

Entering our 3rd season. Please read description for more info.

Welcome to TreeTops at Grand Beach! We appreciate you stopping by. Please inquire about anything you see or read on the site.

TreeTops is a classic Grand Beach home nestled in the trees of Old Grand Beach; a block from Lake Michigan & the park/tennis courts with all the trappings for a great week or weekend. It's a very private property as evidenced by the pictures and many of the comments in the reviews for the house. Both the house and adjoining deck are perched high off the street on a sand dune away from neighbors.

The home is 2,000 square feet with 3 bedrooms/2 baths and a monstrous deck that winds down to a dead-end street and you can walk the block to the beach in minutes. As well, your rental (in season) comes with the use of our golf cart, that seats four, and can quickly transport you to the beach, golf course or anywhere within the Village. Grand Beach is a golf cart “approved” village. You must have drivers license to operate golf cart on the streets.

The kitchen is very large and comes with all kinds of necessities for cooking and baking. We keep the spice cabinet well stocked so leave your spices at home. Re: grilling, we have a new, large gas grill for the barbecue king or queen. There's a bar off the kitchen that allows for additional seating to the kitchen nook table. See pictures for better detail. We have a Keurig coffee machine for your K-Cups as well as a traditional coffee maker too.

The main living area is very spacious and includes a large flat screen TV and a dual sided fireplace for fires in the off season. There's an additional 4 person, round table in the living room for added seating, working a puzzle and/or a great game of cards.

The three bedrooms upstairs bedrooms are spacious and all have newly acquired beds and linens. Total bed sleeping accommodates 9 (1 king, 2 queens, 1 twin bunk and one twin) and is ideally suited for three families with kids. This is not to say that some can't sleep downstairs but the house is really geared for six adults (max) and some children. Let me know if you have any questions about lodging.

For the summer vacationers, we have a surfboard, a kids kayak, 4+ boogie/wake boards, at least a half a dozen beach chairs, four small child life vests and an umbrella for the beach.

We’re excited to offer you a great, private retreat home in Old Grand Beach for whatever your week or weekend has in store. Mid-week rentals also available.

A little history: the house was purchased at the end of 2014 and we completed the renovation in the spring of 2015...just in time for the rental season. All pics are current to the property today. TreeTops is also owner-managed.

So come stay with us. Many others have. We really think you'll enjoy the house as much as we have so far. And please don’t hesitate to contact us with questions and thanks for giving us a look.

Thanks,

K, H, S & Z

About Keith

Family of four from Chicago and long time vacationers to the area that decided to take the plunge and buy a property in this great little area of Grand Beach

Keith purchased this house in 2014

Why Keith chose Southwest

Suited our family and rental prospects very well. Situated up on a sand dune, the house and deck are "away from it all". House has great bones and matched perfectly with our desire to create a "beach like" home near Lake MI. With its 2,000 square feet and large deck you never feel on top of each other.

What makes this house unique

Serenity. Very private. Great area of Grand Beach. Grand Beach is a quiet little beach town. It's a throwback beach town. Lotta walking, golf cart travel and overall friendly folks. Re: the privacy, you can't just show up and park your car in the street and hit the beach...need to be a resident or guest so very little traffic. You'll visit once and come back for years...just like us.

Guestbook comments from the owner

This house is a very comfortable one in beautiful Grand Beach. It is nestled in the middle of mature trees so it gives a great feeling of privacy. The house contains every utensil, pot, pan and bowl that you could possibly need for food prep and cooking. The house is very clean and tastefully decorated. Linen and towels are plentiful along with all kinds of beach toys. Our family had such a fun family vacation here. The golf cart made it so convenient to go to the beach with all supplies in tow. It was also fun to ride in the cart and see the other beautiful homes in Grand Beach. Located between Michigan City, IN and New Buffalo, M., there is always something to do close by should you want to outside Grand Beach. Take some water shoes because the beach and shoreline are very rocky. Beach and beautiful sunsets are only a short walk away. I would rent this property again. Keith Szanto is a wonderful host. The process of booking the house was easy and provided me with all the necessary information.

18th Bday Get Away

  • 5 of 5

To celebrate my daughters 18th bday and escape from the suburbs, we chose this spot and it far exceeded my expectations. We were greeted with celebratory cup cakes and a lovely welcome note on the chalk board. As we explored the house - we were delighted. Plenty of room for the group to sprawl out and enjoy in an open first floor with a great double sided fireplace that we kept going as it was a wintery weekend. All the beds, and there was plenty of sleeping options, were extremely comfortable, the bed, linens and comforters were all very soft and luxurious. The kitchen was extremely well stocked. I grew up summering in Union Pier and usually hit Union Pier or Lakeside for these weekend runaways, but we think we like Grand Beach even better. This house on top of the hill, only a block from the lake, was a great find. Keith is exceptionally attentive as well. You really can't go wrong renting this delightful home. If the opportunity arises - we will be back!

Very Beachy vacation!

  • 5 of 5

My family of 10, including 5 kids under the age of 10, stayed at this beautifully set up large home in July. We enjoyed ourselves every minute we were there, with kayaking and playing on the beach every day, going to the casino and to town when it rained, bike riding and exploring, and a lot of time grilling and playing on the deck. Everything was every bit as convenient as being home, and the owner was most accommodating and so nice to communicate with. The area is beautiful and has a great private beach. We took two days to catch the train from town to Chicago. Everything you will need is there, perfect spaces and so much room for everyone. Loved the two large tables in the kitchen and dining room. One of my favorites!

Great Visit

  • 5 of 5

A group of my friends and I stayed at Keith's property last year for a "Friendsgiving" celebration. We had an amazing weekend so decided to return again this year. Keith was great at communicating via Home Away and text messages. The house is beautifully maintained and perfect for large groups/families. We saw our first snow/hail storm of the year during our stay. Despite the weather, we made it down to the beach a bunch of times since it's only a few-minute walk from the house. The sky at sunset was beautiful! After braving the elements, we cozied up by the fireplace. We had a great weekend and will be back next year! Highly recommend!

Great fall escape.

  • 5 of 5

We rented this lovely home for a birthday party and sisters reunion. We all love to cook and the large kitchen was very spacious both for the "chefs" and the onlookers. There are a number of eating places on the first floor including a kitchen eating area, a bar, a large dining table and a large deck situated amidst the tree tops. Close walk to the lake. Very quiet during this off season period - which is what we wanted!

There was lots do to in the small surrounding towns: antiquing, a "wurst" festival, a local craft show, garage sales, distillery tour, pumpkin picking. Very clean. Welcoming owners. Highly recommend.

Absolutely Wonderful Experience!! Highly recommend this place to all!

From the house to the property...from the owners to the neighbors..From the view to the neighborhood....where to start? Beautiful home, fully stocked with everything you could ask for. It was perfectly decorated and very comfortable for our group of 8. Nice linens and towels with super comfy beds. The deck is amazing with an extremely easy access to Lake Michigan and beach entrances. The golf cart was such a wonderful feature. It helped so much with our older folks. Such a charming neighborhood with the sweetest neighbors. Deer roam freely throughout, right on the driveway ! This property was right over the Michigan border and so easy to get to. It's location also makes it an easy starting point to go explore all of the other beach towns up and down the lake.

The owners are in constant communication making sure everything is in order and all your needs are met. We couldn't have asked for anything more. We will be back again !

Perfect get away!

  • 5 of 5

We will be leaving in two hours and I hate to go. This house could not have been more perfect for a long weekend stay for our family. Keith provides everything that you could possibly need while you are here. Our son is moving to Germany in a few weeks and we wanted to do something as a family before he leaves. We did enjoy going to a few wineries and breweries, but always looked forward to coming back to the house. We have stayed in many rentals in the past, but never have had the amenities that are in this home. There is no doubt that we will be returning to the Treetop Beach House.
