About the property

5 BR, 4 BA with large patio, fire pit, and private dock on the Little Red River

Nestled on the banks of the Little Red River in the foothills of the beautiful Ozark Mountains sits JJ's Riverhouse. The ‘Little Red’ is one of the best tail-water trout fisheries in North America and is home to the 40+ pound world record brown trout, caught in 1992. This home is perfectly situated for your relaxing vacation, located between Cow Shoals public access and Jon’s Pocket, a local favorite. JJ's Riverhouse provides easy access to Heber Springs and Greers Ferry Lake, just seven miles away.

With 300 feet of riverfront and a private dock with boat slip, access to the river is just a short walk out the back door. A large patio provides river views where you can see trout feeding and also observe local wildlife such as deer, turkey, fox, heron, eagles, ducks, geese, and osprey. Fish from the dock, the bank, or just wade in when the water’s down.

JJ’s Riverhouse is a 2550 sq. ft., five bedroom, four bath home that comfortably sleeps 12. It is a fully equipped and furnished home including Wi-Fi, high-speed Internet, and cable TV with landscaped gardens and a large front and side yard perfect for outdoor activities.

Local Highlights include:

The Little Red River is a premier trout fishing tail-water that flows from Greers Ferry Lake. Brown trout are considered native here, since they were stocked in the 1960s and propagate on their own. Rainbows are stocked but thrive here, with fish of 10 pounds and up not uncommon. This is a fly fisher’s paradise with plenty of wade fishing waters. Local fishing guides and outdoor outfitters can provide you with the fishing experience of a lifetime, whether on the river or on the lake.

Greers Ferry Lake is a 30,000 acre, clear water lake from which world record walleye are taken. The lake is a playground for all kinds of water sports. Dam Site Park/Marina is located just eight miles away and provides boats, party barges, tubes, jet skis, and other rentals for enjoying the lake.

The Greers Ferry area is the home of dozens of wintering bald eagles. Across the river, Magness Lake is home to wintering Trumpeter Swans which can be heard on the back patio. For hiking enthusiasts, Sugarloaf Mountain trails are located just five miles away.

JJ’s Riverhouse is the perfect vacation home with plenty to do all year long in this beautiful Ozark Mountain setting.

Quiet and Comfortable

  • 4 of 5

JJ's Riverhouse is a quiet sanctuary of Little Red River beauty that is nestled on the banks with room to spread your wings. This property is away from the crowd but conveniently located to town. The home is spacious and accommodated our 7 adults with plenty of room to spare. The property is very clean and well maintained. Being on the river and having access to a private dock allowed for quiet moments and hopeful fishing opportunities.

The service and response from the property manager was exceptional. We experienced a little kitchen plumbing issue which was taken care of with prompt communication and quick action. Things are bound to happen and it was nice to get resolution without excuses and delays :) Bravo Ruth!!

This place is spectacular but I could not give a 5 star rating for a couple of reasons. The first reason is property specific....one must be extra careful when passing through the laundry area that separates the kitchen/pantry from the 2 rooms off the carport. The flooring is raised in the center with step down landings at each door (carport & back yard). Because they used the same tiles at both levels (raised and landings) it is very easy to miss your step, as two members of our group did, which creates a bit of a trip hazard. Being our first time to the river, we quickly learned that the dam releases water from the lake (every afternoon during our stay 7/29 - 8/03) which increases the depth and speed of the river. During our stay the amount of water being released made it difficult to fish from the dock in the late afternoons and early evenings. This was the most disappointing aspect of the trip because the location is so beautiful and our group loves to fish. Also, one should know that the house is located in a section of the river that will not allow you to bring a rented fishing boat to the dock.

Even with that being said.....this home is special. If you are looking for a quiet retreat where you can relax and watch the river roll by then this is truly the place for you!!!

Beautiful River House!

  • 5 of 5

Our stay at the end of July was just wonderful. We had kids with their kids and this is the perfect setup for couples and the separate annex of 2 bedrooms gives adult children their privacy. The dock on the river is the best cooling off place during your stay. The lake is just a 15minute drive so you have the lake and river to enjoy. Very Relaxing.

Family fun on the river

  • 5 of 5

We brought our family up for a couple of nights. Rooms are spaced well apart and doors are there that can be closed off so some can be in the living room and not disturb sleeping ones. This house is top notch and there is no where near enough space here to tell you all the good things about this place. Very private. Great view of the river. Terrific fishing.

Wonderful porches to sit on. Large yard we had toddler so this was great. Well stocked with everything you need. Bed were good pillows were good. Towels were good. Place was clean! Even the dock was clean. You will not go wrong here. Host responded quickly to any questions.
