Worth the price

  • 4 of 5

The location is awesome. 2 minute walk to beautiful Waikiki beach and lots of great places to eat and shop within walking distance. Vicky was very helpful when we had a minor problem checking in which was very nice. The front desk was extremely helpful and courteous. The hotel is a bit older, but we knew we were not paying for a 5 star. Some reviews mentioned the noise of the air conditioner and street noise. We found that the air conditioner was fine and by running it we reduced the street noise- not that it was terrible to begin with. If you are looking for a safe, clean place to stay for a a reasonable price this is a great place.

Great Location However VERY VERY Noisy!

  • 3 of 5

We are a family of 4 and stayed at this property last year Nov 2015. It was in a great location, only a very short walk right into the heart of Waikiki which was fabulous. Booking the room through Vicky was really easy and this was a last minute booking we were on a tight time frame and she was really helpful. When we arrived early in the morning Vicky wasn't actually there to meet us like she said she would be and we were a bit confused as reception couldn't check us but after about 30 min Vicky called the reception and they checked us in no problem.

The first thing that immediately struck me as I walked into the room was that the balcony glass doors were filthy and dirty, then I looked at the mirrored wardrobe doors and they were completely smeared with lots of hand marks ALL over them and dirty. Although the bathroom mirror had been wiped it was completely streaked as well! I immediately felt upset and that Id made a bad choice for my family. The room itself was tidy however things had simply been badly wiped around and not moved or cleaned properly in a long long time . The few ornaments were dirty and behind everything was a thick layer of dust/dirt. The lamp between the beds was covered in thick dust and the chairs under the table, covered in bits of dirt, food. . I am not a clean freak at all but I do expect a paid room to be clean and given the cleaning fee we were charged (USD 100 plus tax ) it was obvious this wasn't being paid to any cleaner ever which annoyed me!!! I found the cleaning fluids and cleaned everything. All the furniture is dark wood and really chipped which made it look run down which the photos can't show.

The room is advertised on the 2nd floor however there isn't a first floor so it was just above street level and on a busy road opposite a bus stop and it was INCREDIBLY NOISY! The air conditioner was also so incredibly noisy that we couldn't decide which was worse, the aircon noise or the buses and traffic. One night we tried it without the aircon on to see which was better but we got hot so either way, it was hard to sleep.

Cute old style Hawaiian Hotel however as private guests we were not allowed to use their bus to the shopping center etc which was disappointing. For the price we paid the great location of the room was worth it and for young adults on a cheap trip to Hawaii this is great accommodation however for a family with kids, too noisy and OK.

No Luxury here

  • 2 of 5

Our room/ Studio was on 2nd floor with the balcony facing the street so we couldn't open the balcony at all as the street is always busy & noisy all times of day & night, yes its very close to buses but extremely noisy, the room was clean & tidy although a musty smell was always there but the bathroom was clean and they supplied a good QTY of towels & beach towels, had a bit of communication problem with Vicky as she wasn't answering our calls when we arrived & had to ask the reception of the hotel for help, and must tell that the hotel stuff were just amazing so helpful & accommodating , be prepared to get what you pay for.

Nice Neat Comfortable

  • 5 of 5

everything is great, amenities are miniature but complete and neat, kitchen and stocks are small but nice and neat. you can cook very simple meals and still feel quite comfortable after doing the dishes in a miniature sink. it's hard to explain, but it's like... those compact hotels in Japan - but super neat also like everything else Japanese. I won't consider it luxury due to the shear size, but it's very comfortable and well taken cared of. materials aren't the cheap plastic ones that you would see in a motel. it's nice like a real full kitchen and bath, but just smaller in size.

the only thing perhaps is the noisy streets throughout late night and starts early morning.. garbage truck is dumping out trash right outside our patio. but this is true for nearly all hotels on the main street.

in short, highly recommend for this price!

Good location for exploring Waikiki

  • 5 of 5

We had a good time at Vicky's place - comfortable beds and good hotel facilities such as the pool area and bbq.

The short walk to the beach past all the ABC stores was very handy. Thanks Vicky

Decent choice for the price

  • 4 of 5

Good location and don't think the other comments about noise being a concern are correct, especially with the air conditioning on - we didn't have any problems. There is parking next door ($25/night) although we were glad we had a relatively small car as the spots are tight.

Thought the room was tired and in need of a good clean (especially the carpet and fridge) - would have given 3 stars instead of 4 but the price is good for the location.

All in all, a decent budget choice for Waikiki; communications with Vicky were very good - she responded quickly and answered all my questions.
