the cottage in Sintra was very clean and comfortable for the three of us. we were able to walk into the village for meals in the small cafes and restaurants and it was a reasonable drive to the beaches and other attractions.
the hosts are very kind and accommodating and made our stay extra special.
Upon arrival ..the owner opened the distinctive blue gate, ..we walked through a beautiful little garden to our private house..and were welcomed inside to homemade custard pudding, delicious cheese and a bottle of wine.
Just down the hill from historic centre.
We came from Hawai’i to join up with our friends from Paris and enjoyed our time at the house together and the ability to access the local sites easily.
Obrigata to Beatrix and Isabel for their sweet house and welcoming!
Aloha...Jan and Greg
Quiet, private and comfortable
This is a wonderful little spot in Sintra. It’s a short walk into historic part of town (although uphill) , we were able to do it just fine with our 2year old. Our hosts met us at the gate and although they were in the main house while we were there, we felt as though we had complete privacy, but also someone around if we needed anything. I highly recommend staying here when in Sintra.
Very very pleasant!!! In the heart of Sintra, so quiet and peaceful. We loved it so much.
This was a very pleasant stay. It was very nice, agreeable, relaxing in the heart of historic Sintra.
The scent of Jasmine and a view of the mountains
This was a charming and cozy little house that provided my daughter and I with a relaxing home base for our treks up the mountains of Sintra. We appreciated the homemade bread, pastry, cheese and meat tray waiting for us on arrival. Isabel was a lovely and thoughtful hostess who went out of her way to make us welcome. Americans needs to be aware that there are washing machines in Portugal and Spain, but no clothes dryers, so be prepared to hang your clothes and pack things that dry quickly! Also, there is a lot of uphill walking involved in getting to and from the village from the house, so bring your sturdy shoes.
The cottage was charming, very spacious and well appointed. It is located on a quiet street near the town center and many lovely restaurants. Beatriz and her mother are excellent hosts. We were able to park on a side street nearby. We highly recommend this location.
You can reach Casa do Jasmin from Lisbon by car or by train.
By car: from Lisbon airport, take the "Segunda Circular" road south towards Lisbon and follow the direction of IC19. Once on IC19 drive all the way to Sintra. As you enter Sintra, there is a roundabout. Follow the directions to the "centro histórico" (historic center). In total, it should be a trip of about 25 kms.
If you take a taxi from the airport expect to pay a fare of around €35.
By train: trains run from Rossio to Sintra every 45 minutes. You can catch the train at Rossio train station located in Lisbon city center. The train fare will be about €2 per person.
Casa do Jasmin is a mere 300 meters from the Sintra village center. From here you can catch a bus or taxi to the many attractions in and around Sintra such as Castelo dos Mouros , Palacio Nacional da Pena, Quinta da Regaleira and Monserrate Gardens.
From daytrips to Lisbon and Cascais to the picturesque and verdant Sintra mountains; from the breathtaking waves of Praia do Guincho to the rough and rugged Cabo da Roca, Europe’s most westerly point, Casa do Jasmin is the ideal base for thrill seekers and ramblers alike.
