A wood burning fireplace for those chilly nights, leather couches, and dining for six with windows overlooking the woods makes the open floor place of this vacation rental like a 'home away from home'! A huge 42' flat screen TV provides hours of digital entertainment, as does the stereo. Wireless internet and local phone service is provided for your convenience.

What makes this cabin unique

The cabin is a great place to get away and relax in privacy and quiet. It's the kind of place where time slows down, and you can listen to the trees rustling around you while you sit on the front porch with a cup of coffee while you rock in a huge adirondack.

At night, the front yard is level, perfect for chasing fireflies, or toasting marshmellows in the fire pit. A perfect place for a family get-away, without being in the boondocks. The town of Helen, and the natural beauty of Unicoi Lake and Anna Ruby Falls are just minutes down the road.

Be aware, this cabin has issues.

  • 2 of 5

I have filed a Complaint with my Credit card company about this Cabin . The cabin was not clean, there were dead flies throughout, on the floors and the beds.

The Hot Tub was only usable part of the time, it was under repair.

The upstairs shower drain was clogged and we only had 1 shower for 5 people. This was repaired and the next day that bath was usable.

The Air Conditioning system is insufficient and the Owner will tell you, after you have paid for the Cabin, that the thermostat cannot be set below 70 degrees. The entire 3 days we were there the cabin was NEVER cooler then 76 Degrees.

It's obvious that this Cabin is little used. I think part of the reason may be that people do not return to stay here again?

BTW- if you are staying there multiple days, be sure to bring Toilet paper, the owner only provides 1 roll per bath room for the entire stay. (Cheap). You might also bring some extra light bulbs.

Despite these issues the owner never offered to compensate us for not providing the a cabin with all the advertised amenities. Very foolish.

Owner's Response: I am very surprised at the content of this review, because it indicates that we do not maintain the cabin properly, or be responsive to guest issues. Neither of these things are correct, and the guest's review contains fabrications that I have the invoices and text messages to disprove. I called the guest several hours before arrival because a last minute check of the cabin (commonly done the day of, or day before rental) indicated the hot tub flashing an HH code, and I wanted the guest to know that we had already called the spa repairman. Brannon came out the same afternoon (the day of arrival) and fixed the hot tub, although it took several more hours to get up to the desired temperature. The guest complained that the next morning that the upstairs shower was draining slowly, and Brannon had it fixed a few hours later. Both items were fixed within hours of being reported. The thermostat is not set at 70 degrees. Our guest info packet requests that the AC is not turned down below 70 (some guests turn it to 55 and freeze the compressor up), but our guests are free to set the thermostat to their discretion. In light of this feedback, I will have an AC rep check because freon may need to be added (temps are chilly now). The guests that stayed after his departure did not complain about the cabin temperature . As far of the rest of the items were concerned, the guest made NO mention about the air conditioning, needing more light bulbs or toilet paper (2 rolls are left per bathroom), or any dead bugs anywhere until his departure. We are happy to stop back and provide additional supplies or clean to the guest's satisfaction or send an appropriate repairman, but we don't know there are issues if the guest doesn't communicate them until they are leaving!! All that being said, I am sorry that this guest chose to leave such a negative and inaccurate review. If he wanted compensation, he could have directly indicated that he felt it was warranted, and we could have discussed it further. Not only does our cabin rent frequently, but we have many happy guests who return!

Great Stay

  • 5 of 5

It is a mountain cabin as stated, but all the amenities of town. A very short distance to Unicoi state park with Lake, Creek, Kayaking , Beach, fishing and many picnic tables, great place. Five minute drive to alpine village, Helen, with river tubing, many shops and great restaurants, Simply our stay was too short, wish it could have been longer.

My wife and I spent 4 nights at this nice mountain cabin. The location was quite and peaceful. The cabin was easy to find and we liked that it was not too far from some great German food in Helen. We really enjoyed the privacy of the hot tub on the back screened porch and we also had a nice time around the fire pit at night. The cabin was clean and everything was just like it was described. Kate, the owner, was great to work and made the rental process very easy. We would definitely stay here again and recommend to others.

Nice but lacking...

  • 3 of 5

The place overall was nice and handy to surrounding attractions. However, there were insect droppings on the hearth, dead spiders and candy wedged between a cabinet and the refrigerator. We had to climb on a chair to tighten light bulbs in the kitchen so we could see to cook. There was a bowl in the refrigerator to catch leaking water. Dusty silk plants on side tables next to the beds. One chair by the fire pit is ready to fall apart if someone tried to sit on it. Whatever management company you are using isn't doing a very good job. No remotes in two bedrooms. Would not stay here again.

Owner's Response: We are sorry that the cabin did not meet your expectations. We have regular pest control at the cabin, but due to the proximity to the woods, it is possible to encounter additional insects. Thank you for alerting us to the other items. The bulb above the stove top has been replaced, the cracked adirondack by the fire pit has been replaced, and we are in the process of replacing the refrigerator as well.

Nice and Relaxing

My wife and I stayed at this cabin for our anniversary. It was very comfortable and quiet, yet only a few minutes drive from Helen. Owner was very responsive to questions we had leading up to our trip and we would definitely recommend this cabin!
