The property is a 1940 bungalow that has been recently renovated and they did a nice job. The location is great and only 20 minutes to most places you will want to go to see Nashville. However, you can tell that this is a property run by a management company with a cleaning service. It would seem the furnishings are out of a used furniture store and are kind of rickety and somewhat uncomfortable. The master bed was period but they need a new mattress and the sheets/pillows are institutional. I would stay there again because the price was very fair, but there could be some improvements.
My daughter and I stayed at this property for 4 days/nights in mid October. I want to preface this review by stating that anything I say (suggestions/criticisms, etc.) pale in comparison to the many great things about this property. First, the positives: beautiful 1930s cottage that was very clean, roomy, great architectural details, charmingly decorated, large kitchen and dining area, nice older neighborhood with a location that took us (at most) 20 minutes to get to any Nashville location. Now for some negatives/suggestions. There was a lot of construction on the street in front of the house. At first the noise of this didn’t seem too awful. But, as the week progressed and I needed to spend more time in the house during the day, the noise became overwhelming. One night during our stay, the workers hit a gas line that led to the arrival of many fire trucks. We almost had to evacuate but, luckily, they decided that the house was far enough away from the break that we could stay. I would NOT have chosen to stay at the house if I knew about all of the construction. My guess is the owners were not aware. I suppose we could have complained and found another property, but I was ill and had a broken foot. So, moving out would have been more stressful. I also have a safety concern. The only usable door is the back door--far away from bedrooms. The other front doors closer to bedrooms are locked and are unable to be opened from the inside. The windows in the house are also unable to be opened. From a security point of view, this is a positive. But, this could pose a problem for fire/ evacuation safety. I would recommend investing in some other inner locking mechanism for the front door and/or windows. Other smaller issues: pillows were plentiful but were rather old and should be replaced; there was no foil, napkins, or Kleenex and very little paper towels or laundry detergent. According to the rental agreement, these are items that are supposed to be provided with the property. We went ahead and bought some of these items to use on our own. Overall, I would highly recommend this property—construction is an unexpected rarity and the other suggestions are minor and easily remedied.
This is a very comfortable home to stay in-well supplied with linens, towels , etc. Easy access with keyless entry. The location was convenient 10-20 min car ride to most locations .
nice cozy home, quiet area, close to downtown, easy access to area attractions
This house was a really nice place for our long weekend stay in Nashville. It was clean and has comfortable beds. There was a cute bunny running around in the yard most of the time we were there which was also an added bonus.
The only complain I have is that there was no toilet paper and while we were warned there would be a limited supply, there was not even enough for one use which required us to make a second immediate trip to the store. Also, the fridge makes a loud rattling sound periodically which could be a bit surprising but overall, the house was great.
What an extraordinary experience it was to rent this house.
If you check out the photos you will NOT see that the front door is nailed shut and you have to enter from the back of the house up a grassy slope with broken paving slabs, and 8 concrete steps. We felt this was false advertising and as 70-year olds we had trouble dragging our suitcases (we were on a 4-week trip so big bags) up the steps (and back out afterwards). The inside is pretty but not very confortable--very hard chairs. The main bedroom is "haunted"--something kept groaning or creaking in the basement and woke us up: the heat vents are wide open to the rubble basement which was kind of creepy and we wondered if some animal would come crawling up.
We contacted the owners about the locked door but they didn't respond AT ALL and nor did Turnkey. The very least the owners should do is make clear on their webpage that the house is only accessible at the rear and up steps. We arrived in the dark and had to phone Turnkey 3 times before we could figure out how/where to get in. There is a strong animal smell beside that back entry which addedto the unpleasantness of the experience. It was also annoying to have to enter a 10-digit code each time we left and entered since neither of us could remember it!
We do not understand how anybody can say the house is "just as decribed" since neither the steps nor the locked main entry were described. We felt claustrophic the whole time.
