Happy Thanksgiving! 🦃
Great clean cabin overlooking a cove on Lake Santeetlah! Comfortable beds and furniture in the house and on the screened in porch. The kitchen had everything we needed and a full laundry room. Beds were made before we arrived and clean towels were in the bathrooms. Plenty of toilet paper, paper towels and trash bags. We had some confusion over where to drop off the trash; maybe post that in cabin somewhere...We had a great time and will definitely be back!
We are so glad that you enjoyed your stay and had a wonderful Thanksgiving!
Two families with both having babies under 1 had a wonderful stay!!!!
We are so glad to hear that this property worked very well for you both! We hope to hear from you again!
Beautiful lake, very nice property.

The lake house is PERFECT and the views Amazing!!
Beautiful doesn’t even begin to express the area from the lake house!! The house is PERFECT to ALL activities and it is GREAT for playing in the cove. We fished, swam, and watched the storms move in on the screened in porch. It is our FAVORITE place. So sit back, relax, and play hard. CHEERS!!
We are so glad that you enjoyed your stay on Lake Santeetlah! We hope you return soon!
Something Special at Lake Santeetlah
The general area is beautiful with scenic views of lakes, rivers, mountains, and trees, ideal roads for motorcycles and small sports cars, and good hiking off of HW 143. However, dining is limited. The Hub in Robbinsville is good for lunch, and the Tapoco Lodge on HW 129 is good for lunch or dinner. The Lodge has a deck overlooking a cascading river. If you dine at either place, go during good weather and low traffic times because most seating is outdoors and service declines significantly during crowded times. Both of these dining spots are about 15 minutes in opposite directions from the house.
The house is located in the City of Santeetlah, a hilly neighborhood that juts out into Lake Santeetlah. The main road through the neighborhood is one-way running around the edge of the lake. Other roads lead up to the top to the hill. The views are excellent, making for goods walks. The north side of the neighborhood is primarily 1970s or earlier cabins, while the south side transitions to high-end summer homes.
The cabin, Something Special, is located on a paved, dead-end side road that eliminates the need to drive the entire one-way road when coming and going. Gravel parking is adequate for several cars if parked back to back. The location is away from the main roads, so the area is quiet.
The house is a traditional 1970s style rectangular lake cabin. A large screened porch has good views across and down the lake to the mountains. Some of the lake can be seen from the living/dining/kitchen area. The cabin has a swim dock for tying up a boat and extra lake-view seating at the dock and on an exterior patio.
The master bedroom and bath are functional and the two smaller extra bedrooms are OK for a second couple and two children who would share a second bath. Other than a lack of dishwasher, the house has all one needs in appliances, including A/C and washer and drier.
The issues with the cabin are (1) the furniture and beds are old and saggy; (2) the porch furniture is wicker and not comfortable for lounging; (3) the house has very little water pressure (only one faucet at a time); and the rent is a bit high. The management company, Cherokee Rental, is very responsive.
We did not complete all the drives and hikes we planned, so we will return again. In spite of some flaws, we will probably rent the house again when we return.
We are so glad that you enjoyed your stay at Something Special and we hope you return again. The owners replaced the mattress in the master bedroom and added new outside furniture!
Truly something special!
One of the most peaceful vacations we've ever had! The views from the screened porch were amazing! We had all our meals overlooking beautiful Lake Santeetlah, read, played family games, or watched our children swimming or my husband fishing off the dock. Enjoyed the owner's canoe and floats. Plenty of deck chairs. S'mores at night in the fire pit. Would stay there again!
We are so glad that you enjoyed the house and your time on Lake Santeetlah! We hope to see you next year!
