About Marilyn Blackburn

We have always lived with an hour of this cabin, and have a love for the Granite Falls area. We are a mother/daughter team and this is our second cabin in the area and it's been a joy fixing it up and making a pleasant retreat for people! We hope you come and spend a couple days taking in all that Granite Falls and River's Edge Cabin have to offer! You will never forget it!

Marilyn Blackburn purchased this cabin in 2014

Why Marilyn Blackburn chose Washington State

We have another larger cabin nearby and people love staying in a cute place on the river, so when the chance came to purchase this one we were excited to be able to offer another charming cabin on the river!

What makes this cabin unique

We love Granite Falls because of it's location up against the mountains, for the beautiful river, all the wonderful hiking trail, fishing, mountain activities that are there. It doesn't get any prettier than here!

Great little cabin

  • 4 of 5

We enjoyed our three days in the cabin. Everything was nice and clean and well-stocked. Our only problem was finding the place. Apparently instructions were to be e-mailed but I never received them. Be sure to get specific directions to this place. The surrounding properties are rather run-down and that gives one an uncomfortable feeling. Otherwise a great place to stay.

Owner's Response: I am sorry you didn't get the emailed directions but glad you enjoyed your stay at the cabin. The homes up there on the river are modest and rustic but the neighbors are great and look out for each other so it always feels safe to me. I have another cabin nearby that is larger if you ever come to the area again you might enjoy that one too. You can see it at Marilyn

This was a perfect little getaway cabin, close to home but tucked away nicely from the 'real world.' Had nearly everything we could have wanted, and loved that it was dog-friendly so we could bring the girls with us. The bubbling brook behind the cabin was some wonderful white noise to accompany a peaceful weekend. Of note to other visitors: no cell phone service at the cabin itself (just had to walk up the road a bit), and no fire circle for evening marshmallow roasting. Also, the 8+ steps to get up to cabin could pose an accessibility issue for some (totally ok for us, but our 14+ yr geriatric dogs had a bit of trouble getting up and down!) We would definitely stay again. Thank you for the hospitality!

Owner's Response: I am glad you enjoyed it and I like your suggestion about a place to roast marshmallows and have a fire. We will work on that one! Marilyn

Beautiful view!

  • 3 of 5

The cabin's view of the river is breathtaking! The porch is a wonderful place to sit and have your morning coffee. Really cute place and well the oven! Maybe it's time to invest in a couple new sets of bed linens, as the the ones on the bed had stains, as did the ones in the linen closet. Just normal wear and tear I am sure.

This cabin is great for a couple or small family, but if you have a baby that wakes easily this isn't the right place (the description led us to believe it had an actual bedroom, but in reality it's a studio with a folding partition separating the bed from the rest of the cabin). We set up our crib in the bathroom so it worked out, but wasn't ideal.

The property was beautiful and our dogs loved exploring the new place. The burned down house and junkyard next door was a little creepy, but the fencing next to the cabin shielded most of it. We just didn't explore in that direction.

We were given the incorrect directions to the place at the last minute and our deposit refund was overlooked....I had to contact the owner for both of the above items.

Overall it fit our needs and we would return again without the baby, or when he is a little older and has better sleep patterns.

Owner's Response: Hi there...we have a larger cabin nearby that is better suited for more than 2 people, at Thank you for your feedback, we purchase lots of linens throughout the year and I will suggest to the housekeeper that she let me know when they re looking tired a little sooner! The house closest to the cabin that burned down is in process of cleanup and re-build so hopefully this spring there will be a nice new place. You can't really see it unless you go down the road, but it is creepy looking to see a burned out home! Marilyn
