About Marilyn Blackburn

We have always lived with an hour of this cabin, and have a love for the Granite Falls area. We are a mother/daughter team and this is our second cabin in the area and it's been a joy fixing it up and making a pleasant retreat for people! We hope you come and spend a couple days taking in all that Granite Falls and River's Edge Cabin have to offer! You will never forget it!

Marilyn Blackburn purchased this cabin in 2014

Why Marilyn Blackburn chose Washington State

We have another larger cabin nearby and people love staying in a cute place on the river, so when the chance came to purchase this one we were excited to be able to offer another charming cabin on the river!

What makes this cabin unique

We love Granite Falls because of it's location up against the mountains, for the beautiful river, all the wonderful hiking trail, fishing, mountain activities that are there. It doesn't get any prettier than here!

Peace, quiet, amazing river frontage, cute.

This is great for a weekend stay for solitude and quiet. We wound up being here 3 weeks due to construction on our house. The pro's are listed in the title and it is perfect for 2 people who want to escape. I recommend using the hot water (shower) in the afternoon/evening when there is likely to be more. Also could use some new bedding. All in all, we enjoyed our stay and it is just a few steps from the river which you can peacefully hear in the background at night. The owner is very nice and responsive as we locked ourselves out! There is internet connection but no TV and no phone connection, so it truly is an unplugged lovely escape. There is a housephone for emergencies. We were never disturbed by any neighbors or anyone else. Lots of hikes in the area of varying degrees. Grounds and house are neat and clean, fully equipped. We are happy we chose this over a hotel!

Nice little getaway for two and right on the river

  • 4 of 5

Wonderful little place to stay for all the great day hikes around the area. Right on the river's edge so you have the soothing sound of the water rushing by to help you sleep. Looking forward to staying there again

Cool place on the river had a great weekend

  • 4 of 5

The only problem was lack of hot water when I tried to talk a shower after a cold wet hike which is weird because there was plenty of it for dishes the next day and the water was hard lots of metel in it, easy fix with a good setamint filter but other than the water problems love the place and location. I wood like to stay again in spring or summer or fall for that matter

Great little cabin

  • 4 of 5

We enjoyed our three days in the cabin. Everything was nice and clean and well-stocked. Our only problem was finding the place. Apparently instructions were to be e-mailed but I never received them. Be sure to get specific directions to this place. The surrounding properties are rather run-down and that gives one an uncomfortable feeling. Otherwise a great place to stay.

Owner's Response: I am sorry you didn't get the emailed directions but glad you enjoyed your stay at the cabin. The homes up there on the river are modest and rustic but the neighbors are great and look out for each other so it always feels safe to me. I have another cabin nearby that is larger if you ever come to the area again you might enjoy that one too. You can see it at www.vrbo.com/400489 Marilyn
