Although Bend grew because of skiing and winter sports, there is much to do in spring and summer. Whether your passion is hiking, fishing, mountain biking, golfing, shopping, or just drinking beer, you can do it in and near Bend. Central Oregon is home to some of the state's best golf courses. Rivers mean rafting and fishing. Or you can find a trail, there are some right next to the Knotty Pine, and explore it by foot or bike.
Bend has a great downtown for strolling, shopping, and eating. Vvisit local shops and restaurants on the historic streets. You'll find local Bend jewelers, artisans, and crafts people, antiques, interesting home decor, ski and beach wear, and more. Enjoy a spa experience at Anjou Spa and feel pampered. Savor the thin chewy crust at Pizza Mondo, or, for a full meal try one of our favorites Zydeco or the Blacksmith. Right next to downtown, visit the Deschutes Historic Museum and learn more of Bend's history.
'Best 'Beer City' in America'
Deschutes Brewery is where it all began and you can visit their hot spot downtown before starting a tour of Bend's many breweries (yes, there are tours). We also love Cascade Lakes Brewing- in addition to great beer, their food is yummy! 'On a per-capita basis Bend has one of the nation’s highest concentrations of breweries. The more than 25 breweries located in and around Bend give residents easy access to high-quality, locally made beer. It's factors like these that make Bend the best beer city in America and one of our Top 100 Best Places to Live.' -Livability.com, 2014

Great location and spacious, but needs a deep cleaning
Perfect location to explore Bend, OR (1.3 miles from downtown Bend) with plenty of space inside and outside. The host is prompt with communication and very kind.
The place came with :
Outside - huge fenced yard for a dog or kids to play, fire pit, hot tub, outdoor dining table set, and large private parking space .
Inside - master bedroom with bathroom, second bedroom (kids room with many board games), office, large living room with gas fire stove, kitchen, and 1/2 bathroom.
If you are looking for a modern looking place this place is not it. As the photos show - it's an old house with old furnitures. It is in a way CUTE - feels like you are in the "That 70's Show" set.. :)
The kitchen is fully equipped with kitchen tools and serving wares. Make sure to bring your own spices if you are planning on cooking during your stay - they offer salt, pepper, sugar, oil, and vinegar. Whole Foods Market and other grocery store is only 1.5 miles away anyway if you forgot to bring your spices.
We enjoyed staying at this place for a week with only couple of issues. First is the smell. It smells like you are in the thrift store - smells very old. We tried to air out the place for hours to get rid of the smell with no success and I went out to get bunch of scented candles to burn. Thanks to great location - Pier 1 was only 1.5 miles away! It took about 2 days to get rid of the smell having the candles going with the doors and windows open. I wonder if the smell comes from the old area rugs that hadn't been deep cleaned? I don't know. The other issue we had was the dust balls in many corners of the house and lots of dog hairs on the area rugs. I personally think these are minor issues to be addressed by hiring a better cleaning person, because everything else was great except those two.
Almost forgot - the gas fire stove needs a cleaning too. The glasses on the fire stove hasn't been cleaned and you can't see the fire through the glass. We tried to clean few glass panels with newspaper + vinegar, but it needed a deep cleaning. Again, this has to do with the cleaning person. :)
Besides those three - things were good and we enjoyed our stay!
Thank you very much for the feedback. I’ve spoken to our cleaning company. We’ve had them a long time but they’ve hired some newer people that are apparently not as diligent as the owner. This will be addressed immediately. As our home guide states, we ask renters to let us know of any problems, especially cleanliness, upon check in. Had you told me I would have sent different cleaners over right away. I’m sorry I didn’t get the opportunity to fix it while you were there. We want every guest to have the best experience!
Very good location, nice home
Very nice house for our stay in Bend. The home is very spacious and had everything we needed. Location was wonderful, easy access to everything. I would give the house 5 stars however the second shower did not work which was a tad annoying. But other than that a great rental!
Pretty good place. Needs some cleaning and neatening.
The owners seemed nice. The location is near downtown and Pilot Butte (hiking) and the swim center; all of which are good. The property is nicely fenced for a dog and the hot tub works. The house is cozy but cluttered with too much stuff and furniture. Closets were full of furniture and odds and ends. We had to move things out and stack them up in one room to be comfortable. The furniture is a bit worn and dirty as are the rugs. The kitchen was well stocked and worked for us well. The parking is good. I liked this place but renters should know it is not a 5 Star place.
Thank you for your feedback. We're very sorry that you did not find the home to be impeccable. As we state in our home's guide, guests should inform us instantly if it isn't perfectly clean- we would have sent the cleaners back. We did speak with them. We've had five star reviews going back 3 years and take your complaint very seriously.
As for the closets, we do keep extra items in the closets for our guests including blankets, pillows, fans, a dog bed and suitcase stands. We also have a few chairs stored in case an extra friend comes to dinner.
The Knotty Pine is our home and we use it too. We have anticipated the needs that may arise. But, if a guest checks in and needs something, they only need to ask. Our goal is that you have a wonderful stay!
Cozy and quiet. Truly close to everything you need for your stay
The home is cozy and has a nicely stocked kitchen. The layout is nice in that the bedrooms are at opposite sides of the main living area and are large, plenty of room to move the dogs beds back and forth at bedtime. The dogs were most impressed by the complimentary jar of dog cookies! Neighborhood is very quiet. Very nice having the fenced yard as well. We will definitely stay at this property again. Thanks so much for sharing your home!
Great location, well stocked
What a cool. quirky, homey place! It was perfect for me, my husband, and our dog. My dog loved the big backyard. The hot tub was definitely a bonus!
