About the property

Large 4 bedroom, 3 bath house. Awesome views from multi-level decks. Sleep 2-12

Morning, noon or night you will enjoy the phenomenal view from the multi-tiered decks of this beautiful mountain retreat. Our 2500 square foot house features both open and covered decks for outdoor fun. There are picnic tables, porch chairs and a gas grill.

We are located in a mountainside, gated community with streams, a waterfall, a duck pond and a picnic area. The house is set on a quiet road with a concrete drive for easy access. You can enjoy taking long walks or bicycle rides right inside the gates of the community.

There is a warm cozy feeling in the large living/dining room area with its stone, wood-burning fireplace, cedar paneling and vaulted ceilings; you can see the mountains easily through the sliding glass doors. Our kitchen has everything you need - just bring the groceries. The downstairs family room has a wood stove, 2 sofas and a table for playing cards or games.

The upstairs features a large king-size master suite, with a private bath and doors that open onto the upper decks, as well as a queen bedroom and one with two twin beds. These two bedrooms share an additional bathroom upstairs. Downstairs has a queen size bedroom and an adjoining bathroom with a full washer & dryer. Additional sleeping is available in a queen sleeper sofa and a day bed with a trundle downstairs.

There are so many things to do in the area - hiking, biking, golf, parks, fishing, wildlife, horseback riding, shopping, restaurants, sightseeing, white-water rafting, gem mining, antique shopping, scenic drives, gambling just to name a few.

Nestled in North Carolina's southern mountains, Franklin is large enough to offer most everything you need, yet still have the peace and tranquility of the mountains. Spectacular waterfalls, fantastic hiking trails, pristine fishing streams and abundant wildlife are just a few of the many things available in this area. Each year Franklin offers numerous festivals and special events including Pickin' on the Square which features live music each Saturday night June through October.

About Karla Langlotz

I live in Florida year round and get to the mountains as often as I can

Karla Langlotz purchased this house in 2005

Why Karla Langlotz chose Smoky Mountains

After living in Florida for quite a while, I really missed the mountains. I like the trees, and the views and the cooler weather. I had visited friends who own a home in the same area and loved it so, in 2005 I purchased my mountain house. When you stand on the upper deck, it feels like the trees are all around you, just like being in a treehouse. I am happy to share the beauty and so I decided to make my home a vacation rental.

What makes this house unique

As a person who travels with my pet, I felt it was important to make our house pet-friendly. I believe that those who travel with their pets are responsible pet owners and trust they will monitor their pets' behavior while staying in our home. We want all our four-legged friends to have a fun vacation too

Guestbook comments from the owner

Want to say how much we enjoyed week's vacation at your mountain home. The view was truly breath-taking, and so was the drive up the mountain! We didn't get snow, but enjoyed frosty mornings and bright stars at night. Thank you for allowing us to share in the blessing!

Will definitely stay again

  • 5 of 5

After reading the reveiws and summary I would say this place is exactly as portrayed. The morning views while drinking coffee on the big deck overlooking the smokies was awesome . The house was set atop the hill as explained but driveway was not as bad as some of the explanations were . I drove a brand new Dually up it with no problems. It was actually fun. If we had bikes it would have been too cool. The house is very nice with 3 bedrooms on the top floor and one downstairs . Everything was well kept and thoroughly clean which to me is the most important part. Homeowner has been very easy to reach out to have questions answered. Waterfall inside the gates is really nice especially with kids and the pond is a really nice well kept pond to fish all sideset of it with picnic area and clubhouse . I was happy and honestly don't think you'll find better to accompany so many people with so many amenities. We are going again .

family get-together

  • 5 of 5

Our family lives in several states, so we decided to gather in one place. The home we rented was wonderful!. Clean, full of necessities to make our stay very comfortable and easy. The kids went off every day to fish, tube, 'gem mine', and other water activities and the older generation went to a nearby town to eat lunch and took naps in the afternoon! Great for all of us!

The beautiful view from the deck is breathtaking! I could drink my coffee on that deck and see that view every morning! Thanks for providing such a place for a memorable family vacation.

Loved it. Beautiful views, very quiet and highly recommended

  • 5 of 5

We were 2 families with small kids each. The house was in a beautiful location and very clean. Kitchen was well stocked with more than enough plates, bowels, cups, condiments etc. They also had a very well stocked "spice rack". The TV in each room worked well and we have cable to occupy the kids.

The basement has board games and a bedroom. While we didnt have a chance to play board games this time around, I could imagine spending a quiet evening indoors playing board games & puzzles with my kids. The view of the mountains from front porch is breathtaking. All the adults spent as much time as possible outside enjoying the view.

One minor point was that the dishwasher was not working. What I really liked was the Karla was upfront about the broken dishwasher and we were able to plan and prepare by bringing some additional paper plates & plastic spoons. So, it was not much of an inconvenience. As I understand it, the dishwasher was supposed to be repaired right after we move out.

I would highly recommend this place and would definitely come back again.

Our family thoroughly enjoyed our stay at this cabin. The beds were quite comfortable. Our favorite spot was the porch with its fantastic views. We hope to be able to return again soon.

Family Wedding in the Mountains

  • 4 of 5

Our trip started out a bit shaky when we got lost in the area. I sent Karla an email to call me and she did so quickly! She was very calming and very willing to help to get us where we needed to be and to start our vacation. It was quite rainy before we had gotten there and continued for a day or two but even with the rain we enjoyed our stay and especially the views from the top patio/deck! We had a total of 8 adults and 4 kids and we never ever felt crowded......this cabin has tons of room!! Thanks for sharing your home with our Florida family!!
