About the property

Large 4 bedroom, 3 bath house. Awesome views from multi-level decks. Sleep 2-12

Morning, noon or night you will enjoy the phenomenal view from the multi-tiered decks of this beautiful mountain retreat. Our 2500 square foot house features both open and covered decks for outdoor fun. There are picnic tables, porch chairs and a gas grill.

We are located in a mountainside, gated community with streams, a waterfall, a duck pond and a picnic area. The house is set on a quiet road with a concrete drive for easy access. You can enjoy taking long walks or bicycle rides right inside the gates of the community.

There is a warm cozy feeling in the large living/dining room area with its stone, wood-burning fireplace, cedar paneling and vaulted ceilings; you can see the mountains easily through the sliding glass doors. Our kitchen has everything you need - just bring the groceries. The downstairs family room has a wood stove, 2 sofas and a table for playing cards or games.

The upstairs features a large king-size master suite, with a private bath and doors that open onto the upper decks, as well as a queen bedroom and one with two twin beds. These two bedrooms share an additional bathroom upstairs. Downstairs has a queen size bedroom and an adjoining bathroom with a full washer & dryer. Additional sleeping is available in a queen sleeper sofa and a day bed with a trundle downstairs.

There are so many things to do in the area - hiking, biking, golf, parks, fishing, wildlife, horseback riding, shopping, restaurants, sightseeing, white-water rafting, gem mining, antique shopping, scenic drives, gambling just to name a few.

Nestled in North Carolina's southern mountains, Franklin is large enough to offer most everything you need, yet still have the peace and tranquility of the mountains. Spectacular waterfalls, fantastic hiking trails, pristine fishing streams and abundant wildlife are just a few of the many things available in this area. Each year Franklin offers numerous festivals and special events including Pickin' on the Square which features live music each Saturday night June through October.

About Karla Langlotz

I live in Florida year round and get to the mountains as often as I can

Karla Langlotz purchased this house in 2005

Why Karla Langlotz chose Franklin

After living in Florida for quite a while, I really missed the mountains. I like the trees, and the views and the cooler weather. I had visited friends who own a home in the same area and loved it so, in 2005 I purchased my mountain house. When you stand on the upper deck, it feels like the trees are all around you, just like being in a treehouse. I am happy to share the beauty and so I decided to make my home a vacation rental.

What makes this house unique

As a person who travels with my pet, I felt it was important to make our house pet-friendly. I believe that those who travel with their pets are responsible pet owners and trust they will monitor their pets' behavior while staying in our home. We want all our four-legged friends to have a fun vacation too

Guestbook comments from the owner

Want to say how much we enjoyed week's vacation at your mountain home. The view was truly breath-taking, and so was the drive up the mountain! We didn't get snow, but enjoyed frosty mornings and bright stars at night. Thank you for allowing us to share in the blessing!

Time to Remember

  • 5 of 5

What a beautiful cabin! That is the best way I can start. Our family have been going on our winter vacation for many years and this is one of the best cabin so far. The first thing we felt was security. The gated community to the cabin is perfect. The drive to the cabin is very manageable. Once there you will noticed a picture of perfection. The view is breath breaking. Once we managed to peel our self from the view, we noticed a gorgeous cabin. This cabin is well taken care of. Inside was very clean! There's plenty room for a big family. The upstairs living room was the best part for our family. We did all our entertaining there... we played games, watched movies and even made gingerbread houses!! The fireplace was a perfect place for us Floridians especially for those 0 degree days!!! So many memories were made there. The cabin felt just like home. So perfect.

We were impressed with all the things available in this cabin.. there was everything you need to make your vacation perfect. Every time someone was looking for something.. we find it! That made life so much easier.

What can I say about Karla and her husband! They were so wonderful. They were always available for anything. It was a pleasure speaking with them and we wish them only the best for the upcoming years. Our family would like to say THANK YOU!! to Karla and her husband for opening their home to us. We will be back!

This home was the perfect place for family. It feels like home from the moment you walk in the door. It is spacious but not to the extent that it gives opportunity for isolation. The home is beautiful, well maintained and comfortable.

Family Thanksgiving in Paradise

  • 5 of 5

This mountain paradise home has been the family Thanksgiving destination for five years and we keep coming back. In fact one son enjoys it so much that he brought his bride back for their honey moon. The four bedrooms, three baths along with a family room living room, dinning room, kitchen and two levels of decks are perfect for our family that has numbered up to 12 on various trips up. The home boasts a well equipped kitchen including waffle iron and a large platter for the turkey, a fireplace, a franklin stove, three large flat screen TVs with cable, ample parking for 3 or more vehicles and a great view, I forgot the outdoor grill and washer and dryer! The home is in the middle of things to do, in a 30 mile radius you have Highlands and waterfalls to the south. Bryson city and the Smokey Mountain Railroad, Deep Creek and white water rafting with zip lines, to the north Cherokee with "Un to These Hills" and the Smokey Mountain National Park. Ninety minutes east is Ashville and Vanderbilt's "Biltmore." There are numerous great restaurants in the area. The owners are very helpful and great to work with. We can not imagine a better vacation home. we heartily recommend!

Amazing place in the scenic Smoky Mountains!

  • 5 of 5

If I were to design a place to stay in the mountains this would be it. Scenic views from the porches and master bedroom, a wood burning fire place with a huge couch for everyone to have a front row seat to the warm fireplace, and all of the comforts of the modern world with wifi, cable TV, and a kitchen equipped for cooking your meals. Greatly appreciated the pet friendly accommodations and our dog had a great time hiking the wonderful scenic mountains out the door. Lots of great things to do in the area from hiking, great restaurants and even a casino. Can not wait to get back when our schedules permit.
