Guestbook comments from the manager

The Hazel House has amazing views, is walking distance to town, a roof top hot tub, a cool roof top room they call the "crows nest" which is a bird watchers paradise, it is right on the a hiking trail, with a dog safe yard and plenty of off street parking. I mean really, what more could a renter want? It is a perfect party house for a group of friends, and or a fantastic family gathering home in the heart of Hood River.

Not to mention the owners are fantastic people.

Nice place to visit

  • 4 of 5

Excellent views. Big master suite but other 2 bedrooms on second floor are small. Very difficult driveway to navigate, so not for timid drivers. Outdoor porches and lawn space are good. Kitchen equipment is so so and the outdoor grill is basic. OK for young children if they can deal with stairs.

Wonderful Stay!

  • 5 of 5

We had a wonderful time in the Hazel House. Delightful rooftop hot-tub with stunning views.

A view from almost every window.

Enjoyed a girls weekend. Everyone loved it. A house we all want to come back to.

Great hiking out the front door. Easy walk into downtown.

However, would not be a house for those that have a hard time with stairs.

Thank you for sharing your lovely house......

Great house - misleading information in advertisement

  • 4 of 5

This was a great house over-all, the view was absolutely stunning, and a good set up for a get-away... however, there were a few things that were either misleading or left out in the advertisement. We chose this house to celebrate my birthday with our 3 grown children + significant others; it happened to work out for our trip, but under different circumstances it would have been a major disappointment:

**The driveway is a nightmare - I can't imagine it in the winter (though it's "plowed"), thankfully we didn't bring my husband's truck as we wouldn't have made it!

**There are NOT 4 bedrooms. There are 3 bedrooms (which are wonderful) and a "sun room" on the top floor with two benches that can be used as twin beds. My son slept up there because his girlfriend did not attend; if we had known this we would have brought an air mattress or found another home.

**If you aren't familiar with Hood River you may think this house is far from walking distance. There are well over 100 stairs, but if you're able to make the trek it's only a 10 minute walk.

**The 4th bathroom is in the garage! It took us all weekend of searching, eventually becoming a game, and it was finally found in the basement!

***To the owners:

- it would have been helpful to have a note from you guys (we did see the binder) that would have told us where the stairs are, and any personal recommendations/things to do etc.

- The view is fantastic but without furniture on the main floor we didn't use the deck much - even camping chairs would help

Hood River House

  • 4 of 5

This house is definitely "different", starting with 4 levels and ending with the master bedroom being painted totally black including the ceiling. Juggling 2 cars in a steep U turn driveway was a bit of a challenge. But the views of Mt Hood, the swallows, hummingbirds, and the forest is fabulous. Plus it's right on a walking trail and within walking distance of downtown Hood River. We really appreciated the hot tub and the lovely yard.

Great get-away house!

  • 5 of 5

This was a great house! It was perfect for two families to enjoy Hood River. This house is in a great location with easy access to Hood River (if you don't mind stairs) and the nature trail behind the house. Well set up, modern, nice kitchen and lovely views all around. Our kids loved the "roost" and we loved the rooftop spa. The driveway was a little hard to access, so once we arrived, we decided to stay put!

Awesome views and location!!

  • 5 of 5

Great location right on the trail, loved walking the pets from the driveway. The yard is very pet friendly and secure. Geese fly right past the windows. Super master with soaking tub and a view of Mt. Hood. Great storage for toys in the garage -and ping pong. Kitchen/Living room is great open space. Walking distance to downtown!

The Columbia River Gorge, with its mountains and rivers, offers the vacationer and recreation enthusiast the opportunity to windsurf, mountain bike, kayak, golf, ski, hike, fish, or just relax in the unhurried pace of a natural paradise. Historic buildings line the beautifully scenic streets of downtown Hood River, with a bustling shopping district featuring boutiques, designer shops, outdoor adventure gear outfitters, antique shops, art galleries and no less than 30 restaurants.

There are many orchards and vineyards in Hood River. The Hood River Valley is known for its luscious apples, pears, cherries, peaches and other fruits, and for the view of the majestic snowcapped peak of Mt. Hood. People from all over Oregon make an annual trek in the fall to the many farm stands to stock up on fresh apples and pears. Other produce is available, and varies by season. The award-winning Hood River Vineyards is located on a hillside overlooking the Hood River Valley. Their tasting room features traditional wines, and fruit liqueurs.

The Columbia River Gorge, with its magnificent views make this a dream spot for a destination wedding.

Wind surfing capital of the world is Hood River's latest distinction. The winds from the Columbia River Gorge, best during the middle of the day, create ideal conditions for riding the waves. To enjoy the view of "boardheads" at play, drive to the Columbia Gorge Sailpark or follow Second Street to the waterfront.

The Mt. Hood region and its more than sixty miles of forested mountains, 77 waterfalls and myriad lakes and streams are a rip-roaring mecca for outdoor adventure. The mountain is home to four ski areas and offers the country's only year-round skiing and snowboarding.
