We had a lovely time in Florence. The apartment was close to all the sites. We were able to walk to almost everywhere. The apartment was very roomy and we had a great time there. The kitchen was great to cook a wonderful meal and lots of space to dine and relax. We would stay here again.
Had an enjoyable stay at Maria's home. The Apartment is spacious, on the other side of the bridge from the Old City Center, not a far walk from the Train Station. The beds were a bit stiff for my taste but they did the job. The apartment has A/C in 2 of the 3 rooms. The amenities are modern, it was quite a nice home. Florence was an amazing adventure and the house made for a good launching off point. 10 minute walk to Boboli Gardens and a 10 minute walk to the Firenze Cathedral.
We could not have been happier with our apartment in Florence.....it was situated in an area that was convenient to see and experience everything the city had to offer.....keep in mind car parking is a major chore in downtown area and we chose to turn our rental in and use public transport. The area was safe and offered non-tourist trap markets in the area around the apartment and easy access to tourist attractions across the river......we loved it!
We arrived forty minutes early for check-in, and Tomi was checking someone in at another property, but he hustled to get to us within twenty minutes, which was very much appreciated. The apartment is in a building typical of old, historic city centers. You know the type - dark, musty, all stone with a giant, heavy door, centered around a small courtyard, stone staircase circling up. This one is fitted with a small elevator fitted in so the stairs wind around it. The apartment itself is light-filled, true to the photos, clean, with all appliances in good working condition.
House rules and general information were printed, with phone numbers of at least three different contacts just in case. I thought it a bit odd that they required you to take your garbage out when someone would be coming in to clean after you leave, but the bins were close by, so no big deal. There is an apartment-sized washing machine, which works just fine. No dryer, but they provide a fold-out drying rack. Heat, water pressure and hot water supply all worked. I can only guess that the experience of a previous guest was unfortunate timing. And I'd guess the boilers for the heat are controlled for the building as a whole, which is why they couldn't find a thermostat.
My only complaint was that a previous guest had made a pot of coffee, didn't drink it, then left the still-full pot on the shelf, so that upon taking the pot off the shelf, moldy, thick goop splashed all over me. Not management's fault, though. Thanks whoever did that, I hope that splatting someone else with moldy coffee made you happy.
The location was perfect for my mom, who has problems walking long distances. Food, entertainment, sights, shopping, all walking distance for her.
My husband and I were travelling through Europe with my 87 year old mother. This spacious and well appointed apartment was in a great location was a wonderful place to stay. The elevator was a God-send after a long day of sightseeing or returning with groceries. Good food-shopping close by appreciated. Being at the end of the Carraia Bridge made walking through town to any location quick and easy. The bedrooms were roomy and well appointed. The kitchen was updated and had everything we required. The only draw-backs were the very hard queen-sized bed and the difficulty in figuring out how to get hot water to the shower. The apartment was clean, and exactly as advertised, and Maira provided a great introduction and general information for Florence.
The apartment was clean and nice EXCEPT as the evening approached it became colder. I texted Maira ( the owner) and she said the heat would come on automatically. It NEVER did. We could not find a way to turn it on. I also tried to get HOT water and there was none! No HOT water for your shower. Then at about 10pm the water turned OFF all together. NO WATER! I texted her to call us but no reply. At this time (very late) I decided we must find another place and did.
I have requested a refund for the two nights we did not stay. At this time she has not replied to emails and only refunded cleaning deposit. I would never stay at this apartment again.
