The building is an 1890s classic stone construction 6 story building, originally 6 enormous apartments, the building was converted to 18 condos in the 1980s.

386 Commonwealth Avenue is two doors down from the Harvard Club and the 5-Star Eliot Hotel in one of Boston's most iconic and photographed blocks in the city.

There is a beautiful roof deck, shared with the other residents, but fully accessible to view the July 4th fireworks, or the Boston Marathon.

Walk score of 98 = easy access everything on foot. No car needed.


Inside Boston's fanciest neighborhood called BACK BAY. You can walk to Fenway Park, Kenmore Square, or head for Newbury Street, the Prudential Center or Copley Square on foot in just a few minutes.

Commonwealth Avenue is a very wide thoroughfare that is separated by a park call the Commonwealth Avenue Mall. This park takes you right to the Boston Common and the Boston Public Garden.

There are thousands of restaurants, bars, night clubs, theaters, museums, boutiques, galleries and shops within a few minute's walking distance.

Parking in the neighborhood is very tight. If you bring a car, the closest parking is the Dalton Street Garage, about 5 to 7 minutes to walk and $35 - $39 per day.

Husband and wife team, Richard and Victoria have been traveling together for over 20 years, and have been landlords in Boston for 15 years.

"We travel too, and we expect everything to be perfect! Really." said Richard, co-owner of Spare Suite, Inc.

Hosts, Richard and Victoria work hard to ensure the accommodations are flawless, every time.

"We started vacation rentals as an experiment," Victoria said. "We furnished a top floor studio in our own multi-family home on Royal Street, just hoping it may get booked a couple of weeks each month. Immediately, it started booking and just never stopped."

Richard and Victoria now have 15 short term rentals in Boston and attribute their success to the fantastic reviews.

"Reviews fuel the fire", Richard said. "Now we have 3 additional short term furnished luxury apartments in Back Bay, Fenway and the South End that all get first class, five star reviews."

The couple say their experience with property management, and their knowledge of the city of Boston, combined with their insistence upon attention to detail is why they have such a high guest satisfaction rate.


When you check in, everything will be in perfect condition. You will feel as if the apartment was put together just for you, clean and sterile from our cleaning crew on every surface, even the switch plates and remote controls.

We call it, "White Glove, Black Light Cleaning." It's our service mark.

Standards for cleanliness exceed those of any 5 star hotel. Every surface, appliance, drawer, ledge and corner are cleaned using a check-list with over 120 points. All surfaces, including floors and walls are vacuumed, then hand washed - never mopped.

Once the unit is thoroughly cleaned, it is inspected by your hosts Richard or Victoria or another manager before you check in to be certain everything is up to snuff. Feel free to do the 'white glove test' anywhere in the apartment.

Linens are laundered locally using bleach, and inspected twice before they go back for use in the unit. We use high quality cotton sheets and plush towels.
