About Virginia Platt

Although I currently live in Houston, Marfa will always be called 'home'. I attended elementary and junior high school in Marfa. Our family took frequent trips to Big Bend, Presidio and Ojinaga. On several occasions, we viewed the lights, visited the Mc Donald Observatory and Indian Lodge. I have many happy memories of Marfa, especially the friendly people and the delicious Mexican food.

Virginia Platt purchased this house in 1973

Why Virginia Platt chose Big Bend Country

Mi Casita(my tiny home) has been in my family since 1973 and has served as a home for several tenants during the past 40 years. A couple of years ago, I decided to remodel it and use it as a vacation home for family and friends. I travel from Houston three or four times during the year to enjoy the beautiful weather Marfa offers and catch up with old friends.

What makes this house unique

The uniqueness about this property is that the inside buildout was performed by three women, my sister-a USDA inspector, my friend-a school teacher and me-a banker. Before each phase, we sat around and watched You Tube videos. I have a true appreciation for contractors and carpenters after this project. I am in love with Mi Casita.

As my guests, I hope that you feel that this is your home also.

Beautiful and gracious casita!

  • 5 of 5

Mi Casita is beautifully done and the owner has thought of every detail to make this a "home away from home." We enjoyed having morning coffee and evening drinks on the back porch. Any location in Marfa is convenient, but this was easy to find and close to "town." Virginia was quick to respond through the process and is a gracious host. Thank you!

Beautiful Casita in Marfa

  • 5 of 5

My wife, young dog, and I loved our stay at Virginia's casita in Marfa. Virginia was helpful throughout the booking process and everything about the rental went smoothly. The yard was quite large and we heavily enjoyed sitting outside on the patio during the relatively cool summer weather. I highly suggest the location of Marfa as well as this adorable rental!

Very clean, tidy well thought out rental with everything you need for a stay.

  • 5 of 5

This is truly a little gem in Marfa. This was our third stay here and we loved it just as much. I find it hard to write this review as I want to keep this amazing place a secret. But the owner really deserves a 5 star review. The home is always very clean and tidy. Has everything you need to cook, plenty of towls and smellies to start you off and a lovely outside area. The welcome card, fruit and wine is beyond kind and makes you feel special. Communication is amazing and the owner responds super fast. This will not be our last time staying here. We have tried other Martha houses but keep coming back here. Thank you once again for making our vacation wonderful.

Felt like Home

  • 5 of 5

My grandson and I spent a month at CasaMarfa and loved it. CasaMarfa, has everything you need, the kitchen is well stocked, the living space is comfortable and the bed wonderful I slept like a rock. Also, the air conditioning works well. Loved having a front porch to sit on in the evenings and the table and chairs in the backyard in the morning. CasaMarfa, is a great place to stay, I highly recommend this accommodation. Thanks Virginia, it was great to meet you and Dan and your Mom too.
