About Linda & Jorge Gonzalez

Raised in New Jersey (too crowded). Chicago winters (too cold). Florida summers (too hot!). Clemson University grad (go Tigers!). And all we ever wanted to do was live in the mountains. We finally realized our dream and settled in the one of the friendliest small communities surrounded by nature's beauty which awes us every day. Peace. Nature. Tranquility. We found our serenity. Let us help you find yours at Gili's Cove Cottage.

Linda & Jorge Gonzalez purchased this cottage in 2014

Why Linda & Jorge Gonzalez chose Hayesville

We discovered Hayesville and Clay County after driving west from the crowds and hubbub of the Asheville area. Convenient to three metropolitan airports (Atlanta, Asheville, Chattanooga), Hayesville prides itself as being 'two hours from anywhere'. A largely rural area surrounded by national forest, the town boasts both a single stop-n-go light and a nationally recognized fine-dining restaurant. The area is rich in local folk arts and culture, with the John C. Campbell Folk Art School nearby. Recreation choices abound-- fishing and boating on Lake Chatuge is 10 minutes away. Hiking, waterfalls, golf, antiques galore. Concerts on the square, festivals and vineyards make it hard to choose what to do each day, especially on a summer weekend. The cottage is convenient to town but feels a world away.

What makes this cottage unique

Turn off the road, drive past the pasture, look across the pond, cross over the creek and you've entered a different world. The cottage sits right on the creek-- a rushing, stocked trout stream right outside your windows. The all-season porch (screened in summer, windows in winter with gas fireplace) is the perfect place for family meals or a quiet retreat, always with the sounds of the rushing creek right outside. The pond offers a never-ending show of wildlife-- deer, ducks and geese, cranes and our resident Great Blue Heron. Children love to walk by the pasture and watch the mommas watching over their calves as they run and play, with poppa bull always casting a wary eye. Take a walk around the pond and along the creek trail-- you'll feel like you're in your own private place in the natural world.

Paradise in the mountains!

  • 5 of 5

Our experience at this little piece of paradise could not have been better. Linda and Jorge are the nicest most attentive hosts we have ever come across. The house itself has everything you could possibly need from hair dryers to a quality library of books. My parents joined us for a few days, and we appreciated the layout of the house with bedrooms on either side for nice privacy. Lots of room for everyone to relax too. The screened porch and yard were so relaxing and beautiful with the constant sounds of the creek and birds. Morning walks on the private road were also a favorite. We can’t wait to come back!

Tranquility! God's creation shines here....calms the soul!

  • 5 of 5

My husband and I have stayed in this area three times in the past few years. We were okay with the other two homes we stayed in, but not overly impressed. This time, we were impressed. From the start, everything went smoothly with the reservation, questions answered quickly and great info provided. Linda was there to meet us upon arrival and gave us a quick tour of the home and provided information about the area. After she left, we then noted fresh flowers, a treat bag for our dog Willy, a bag of local made granola, a and a bottle of sparkling kind. The home was so clean and organized. Full of windows to let in the sunshine - something I crave. The location is great. Easy to go hit Murphy and Franklin, along with Hayesville and do the many antique shops - which we love to do. My husband is a fly fisherman, so the creek behind the house was handy - caught quite a few trout. Rented a pontoon and fished some on Lake Chatuge. He also fished Nantahala River and Fires Creek. Caught trout in all three creeks/rivers he fished, so he was a happy guy. Visited other unique shops and good local restaurants. Weather was a bit limiting each day - was kind of a stormy week. But there are things to do when it's raining too - go visit the shops! Standing Indian campground was our favorite spot of the week. Beautiful there - and cool up on the mountain. Good fishing and Linda says great hiking. I cannot do long hikes due to spinal disability, but some of the area has some easy, short trails to do. And, can't forget, we got to bring our buddy Willy along. Linda has a great little pet service available if a long day of adventure is desired, so that helps so much. We had great cell service while there also - US Cellular - more bars than we have here at home! No problems with the Wifi reception either. So, you will be making a wise choice if you choose to stay in this peaceful spot.....tranquility indeed!

Beautiful, peaceful, relaxing

  • 5 of 5

We stayed for a week at this wonderful cottage. My husband, 82 year old father and 14 year old grandson and myself all fell in love with this place. Linda and Jorge made everything so easy and made us feel so welcomed. This cottage has everything you will need for a peaceful getaway. All we needed was food and we were set for the week. My husband loved the grill and we ate our meals on the all season porch. Our grandson claimed the hammock and dad loved walking down the lane and sitting by the creek. There are plenty of things to do in the area but just staying at the cottage and relaxing was the best. We had hummingbirds, a couple of deer and we loved hearing the creek sounds and birds singing. It was fun to watch the planes take off and land from the small airstrip. My husband enjoyed catching bass from the pond. We went to the old jail and Cherokee museum in Hayesville, the Bigfoot museum in blue ridge Georgia, the fun factory in Franklin North Carolina, and fishing and hiking at Lake Chatuge. We love to eat at the Hole In The Wall restaurant in Blairsville Georgia which is a nice little drive and has fantastic food and you can also go to Brass Bald Mountain which has spectacular views. Thanks again to Linda and Jorge for creating such a beautiful place inside and out for us to come to and relax. We hope to be able to stay again.

A little Heaven on Earth!!

  • 5 of 5

We LOVED it! It was our first time to Hayesville, NC so we didn't know what to expect. We went looking for good fishing and we were not disappointed in the fishing or the home!! It was beyond our expectations! Mrs. Linda was so welcoming and helpful with everything from showing us the house, the outside, using ROKU (TV) to helping us with local fishing spots. The house is fully furnished with everything you could need or want. The outside is spectacular with the running creek which is so relaxing. We've never fished for fresh water trout but my husband caught 11 during our stay (from the backyard). He also enjoyed fishing in the nearby pond where he caught bass and robin.

We will definetly be back and will be bringing family so they to can enjoy this wonderful paradise!!

The Creek Is Amazing!

  • 5 of 5

WE LOVED the's the reason we chose to stay at this cabin. And the cabin was immaculate-- so tidy and organized with everything you would need. I definitely didn't need to pack all the stuff that I brought. The cabin is secluded and all you hear is the sounds of the creek and the wind in the trees. This cabin, and Linda and Jorge the owners, is the one all the others will be compared to from now on. We can't wait to come back!
