About Steve Aaker
Originally from Seattle area, work took us to Montana. My wife and I got tired of the cold. searched for year looking for just the right place. not really city people, the property here in north Scottsdale fit us the best. Some of the worlds best Horse trainers are just a couple miles away, as we are into Reining Horses, and my wife competes all over the U.S. The drive in can be a little bumpy at times, but once you are here, the dessert beauty and quiet makes you forget. We live next door in the main house with our Son and 2 small dogs and one large dog. they are very friendly, and only bark to sound tuff. Its hard to beat the Arizona, weather, people, and activities right in our back yard.
Steve Aaker purchased this Bungalow in 2012
Why Steve Aaker chose Rio Verde Foothills
We chose this property, as we are country folks, who need room. This property had a small barn, and 2.8 acres, and we have fenced and did lots of upgrades. What was the biggest selling point for us, is once relaxing in the back yard, you see no other houses, only a great view of 4 peaks. seems like we are all alone out here.
What makes this Bungalow unique
It did not take long to find out that living out here had huge benefits. we immediately bought RZR's, (UTV's) and Quads, and a bass boat, as we can ride the off road vehicles right from our house, almost 3 million acres can accessed from our back door. Lake Saguaro, and lake pleasant are a short drive for some great striper fishing. Trail riding with your horses are as easy as saddling up and going. Lots of biking, weather its Mountain bikes, or road bikes, Rio Verde is a thorough fair for bikes traveling from Cave creek to Fountain Hills, and we are nestled in the middle.

Beautiful views of the Desert!
Lovely home in the desert with nice yard and pool
Steve and his wife were very friendly and accommodating. The casita has a great view and the place was clean and comfortable.
The house was perfect size for me and my 3 teens. Very nice places to hang inside and outside - pool area and yard are lovely. Kitchen was perfect as well to be able to make full meals. We loved the location even though it is out in the desert in a true ranch setting. It’s 30-45 minutes from most things we visited but the rides were beautiful so we didn’t care. We were glad we upgraded to a SUV due to the bumpy dirt roads we travelled. House could use a couple lamps and a shower caddy or something to hold soap/products. We would definitely stay here again - wonderful place.
This was perfect for us. It was peaceful and a little out of the way. We were only there a week so I wish it were longer to take advantage of the area more. The view of Four Peaks was wonderful to see every day. Thanks Steve and Robin for letting us stay.
Beautiful guest house with a great view
We really enjoyed our stay in north Scottsdale. It's a little away from it all, but a quiet and peaceful place to stay. The guest house had everything we needed and comfortable for two couples. The patio and pool was a great place to relax and catch some sun. We went hiking nearby in the McDowell Mountain Regional Park where there is an abundance of trails to explore. I'd definitely stay, again if ever in the area.
Lovely quite retreat for the whole family.
Our family of 5 adults stayed for the week and had plenty of room. A few things:
1) Technology is great but Steve's directions that he shares via the app are better. We used Waze but once on 101 we ignored the prompts and followed his.
2) If you plan to buy groceries do so when you get off the highway as the nearest grocery store is 1/2 hour away.
3) Going for Spring training and Sedona we drove a lot.
4) The property was very beautiful, peaceful, and comfortable.
