Overview

About the property

This is a beautifully renovated cabin.

There is a year round creek that crosses through a 'green way' (walk / jog / bike trail), accessible from the property through a locked gate.

The house was completely rebuilt in it's original style, but with a few additions. Another full bath with handicap accessability, plus a half bath. Central heat and air conditioning.

The house has beautiful hardwood floors and the entire house is decorated in country style furnishings.

This property is the vicinity where Comanche Indians used to live, and sometimes arrow heads can still be found.

Less then 10 minutes from downtown San Antonio, (Riverwalk, Alamo, etc..), Only minutes from 'civilization', yet when at this home, it is so quiet and peaceful, it seems as if you are way out in the country. The air is clean and the stars are clear.

Guestbook comments from the owner

Our family has a ranching background...we knew we would not be comfortable in a downtown property. This property is close to a Walgreens, Wal-mart etc. but in the country enough we felt very comfortable and safe. The walk down to the creek is gorgeous, even though we were there in the winter. We had a group of family stay with us, my husbands parents, my married daughter, her husband and our grandson. Our family was myself, my husband and daughter age 15. We were in SA to go to our sons graduation from USAF-Basic Training. We started our beautiful Saturday of town pass with breakfast outside at the picnic table and lunch/dinner Bar B Queing steaks on the charcoal grill. We loved the 2 1/2 bathrooms. There are framed letters on the walls to the owner from his Mother/also geneology. The owner shared with us that the 1/2 bath and handicapped bathrooms were renovations to this property. He was one of 4 boys and 6 sisters that were raised in this little one bedroom house. The house is beautifully historic and that was the biggest draw for me. Our son in the Air Force was able to relax after 8.5 weeks of training by playing his guitar and shooting basketballs with our grandson, son-in-law and his Dad on the court in the driveway. Another favorite of ours was walking down the two track dirt road to the creek, walking on the paved pathway next to the creek and going down to a park and playing on the playground with our 2 year old grandson. If we get the chance to go to San Antonio again we would love to bring our fishing poles and a volleyball. We would definately stay there again.

A gem in the midst of the concrete Jungle

  • 5 of 5

This place is like a hidden gem in the middle of San Antonio. The property is gorgeous, the house charming and the owners (Judy & Eddie) sweet as pie. We truly enjoyed our stay and would recommend this to our family and friends visiting the San Antonio area. We will be back. We wish the owners the best of luck. Perfect place for kids and family. We already miss it. My husband is hard to please but was VERY impressed and that says a lot. Ty, Andrea and Samantha Diehl - 3/22/18 - 3/25/18.

Totally Comfortable for a Family

  • 5 of 5

This simple family home has everything you could possibly need for a comfortable stay. The ambiance is friendly and warm and there is plenty of space inside and out for grandchildren to enjoy. The weather was miserably hot but our kids still enjoyed the trampolines, hiking trail, foosball and pingpong in the garage. Location is 15 to 20 minutes to downtown and the house is insulated from the the neighborhood. The owners were welcoming, friendly and were there just as we arrived. This place is a refuge in a huge city.

Unique comfortable stay

  • 5 of 5

We had a wonderful time at this unique property... felt like we were on an old Texas homestead but 10-15 minutes from downtown, as others have said. We were 3 adults and 5 children so the one bedroom and sleeping porch were full(5 beds total), also had one on a cot and one on the sofa. Judy made sure we had all the sheets and blankets we needed. Fished in the creek and enjoyed the separate building with ping pong table ... plenty of room to spread out with teenagers. Enjoyed tubing the Comal river but if we did it again I’d do the Guadalupe river northwest of SA... less crowded than New Braunfels I’m sure. Loved the San Jose mission, Alamo, Riverwalk and swimming at San Pedro state park right in the city. Thanks again to our great hosts!

We rented the house for the Final Four NCAA Basketball Tournament. The house was immaculate and very well stocked. It was quiet as can be and we had a great time! I highly recommend the property!
