We enjoyed the historic feeling of this large, comfortable apartment. It is filled with lovely framed art and artifacts. The kitchen is fabulous. It was such fun to show in the outdoor market below the building, and then cook in the roomy kitchen. The front bedroom can be a bit noisy during the night so we moved to the back bedroom which was very quiet. We walked to most of the points of interest. Thanks to Anna and her father for their hospitality.
Lovely stay in the city centre, but would benefit from some improvements
+Large and quirky apartment, located in the city center, with walking distance to the main sights.
+We have used underground parking close by for €9 per day, as advised by the host.
+Communication was excellent from Anna, easy to get the keys, etc.
Some cons: (compared to other apartments that I have stayed in )
-no entertainment: only a small TV in the bedroom that was not working, no sound system that you can use .
- would benefit from small investments into thing for everyday use for tourists: new towels. electric kettle, small coffee maker / mugs.
An ancient slice of Palermo life
We loved the apartment and its position in the heart of this bustling market. It's got space, graceful looks and proximity to everything you could possibly want. The apartment is well appointed, we loved cooking in the kitchen and if the beds were only a bit improved we'd call it perfect.
Dear Anna Elisabetta! Casa Balmossière is "the" Location to stay, if You enjoy being in the middle of bustling live in Palermo, which is by now on one of my favorite places in the world. View the vivid and colourful market 7 days a week just from the balcony above, buy fresh vegetables and/or fresh fish to invite friends to Your new home (and cook in a phantastic equipped kitchen) for a delicious dinner, after having viewed a Mozart opera burlesque-matinée in Teatro Massimo - joyfully played. The rooms are splendid full of stucco and paintings, every detail with full function for the joy of living in the house, not decorated deadly as a folkloristic Museum. Play the Piano! The house is in the very center of everything You might want to visit (including Capella Pallatina), but best is just to let You flow from market to market, from Piazza to Piazza. Dont miss the famous street Food of Palermo, one of the best is just 50 meters to the right out of Your door! Restaurants? Try the Ferro di Cavallo in Via Venezia (Palermitani are queuing up to get a table, so ask Anna to reserve one, Food is very good and surprisingly cheap) OR the Antica Foccacceria di Francesco for an authentic Food experience at lunch time (table or take away). We will come again.... and again. Gerald and friends
Thanks so much!
We hope to see you again in Palermo!

the apartment was spacious and beautiful with everything we needed. I loved the market below and the local life going on! We cooked some lovely food in the apartment but also enjoyed the street food in the market too. Very central location, the owners were amazing with lots of tourist information for us, they answered every question I had and even booked things for us when the language was a problem. cant wait to return! thank you so much
Like living in small Palazzo above a bustling and always fascinating traditional market
If you like a beautifully furnished, large apartment with paintings, sculpture and art work above one of Palermo's largest markets, this is your place. The place is huge...and each room is elegantly furnished. The balcony looks over the Capo Market with vegetable stands, fish mongers, meat shops, cheese stores, bakeries...and everything else beneath. It's a 10 second walk to the bakery. Want prosciutto? It's another 10 steps. Also nearby to almost all of Palermo's major places. If you like cooking, you can whisk your market treasures to the kitchen which is one of the largest I've ever seen in Italy. Tradeoffs here are go hand in hand with being above the market: It can be noisy in the morning as the shop keepers set up and greet each other. For us, that was part of the charm of the place...but wanted to let you know.
