Overview

About the property

Casual Elegance in the County

Jamieson house was built in 1902, and is a gracious, pristine century home in downtown Picton.

She has been well loved and cared for by all her owners, including the current proprietors , Barb and James Mason, who bought her in October, 2014. When James retires from teaching at Crescent School in Toronto, they are hoping to retire here. The house is perfectly situated in the County.

You can literally walk to a large array of restaurants and cafes for breakfast, lunch and dinner. We have listed our favorite places under the What’s Going On in PE County.

Your welcome basket is provided by the Regent Cafe on Main Street. Each basket is lovingly prepared specifically for Jamieson House guests, and we hope you take the time to wander downtown for a meal and meet the owners Meghan Van Horne or Dave Wheatly.

The house has lots of cosy nooks and crannies to cuddle up on a couch with a quilt and read, or to sit around the fireplace with a glass of wine and catch up.

The kitchen has just been completely renovated to bring back the country hardwood floor and a booth table for family dinners. A new LG Smart TV will allow for family movie nights after a lazy afternoon by the pool or the beach, which is only a short 20 minute drive away. ( free park pass included with rental).

There are literally dozens of wineries within biking distance. We have a lots of room to store the bikes and park your cars as well.

The white couches, open pool in the backyard, and the steep back stairwell means the property is not well suited to little tots, as they would need to be watched constantly.

We want everyone who comes to have a relaxing, pampered, restful visit. Jamieson House has quickly won the hearts of many and we are hoping you will enjoy your stay year after year…

About Barbara Mason

Barb and James Mason fell in love with Prince Edward County in the Fall of 2011. They were staying at Eckhert House for a week of relaxation in Sandbanks before Barb headed into chemo treatment for Breast Cancer. They were married June of 2013, and promised themselves they would spend the next few years looking for their dream retirement home in the County. Never in a million years did they expect a jewel like Jamieson House to turn up so quickly. It simply was not a house they could walk away from.

James is a teacher at Crescent School in Toronto. Barb has retired from the publishing industry, and after raising two cherished sons, became an active volunteer for Habitat for Humanity International.

The Masons decided to pay tribute to the former owners, Georgie and Andrew Jamieson who had contributed to the County in so many ways.

We absolutely love Jamieson House and know you will too.

We look forward to welcoming you to experience Jamieson House and Prince Edward County

Absolutely terrific stay!

  • 5 of 5

Jamieson House in Picton, PEC is the most fantastic vacation spot you could hope for. It's a beautiful property with every amenity imaginable.

The kitchen is equipped for a gourmet chef and the pantry is stocked with everything you might need to put together your meals.

The 4 bedrooms are all extremely comfortable and the beds are divine. Fell asleep moments after hitting the pillow. Beautiful, well equipped bathrooms and a fantastic free form heated pool with a great outdoor sitting area for meals or drinks. Nothing has been overlooked at Jamieson House. You will feel comfortable from the moment you walk in the door.

Located right in downtown Picton, you can walk into town in minutes for dinner, ice-cream, pubs and shopping. We used it as home base to explore the County, and it seems like everything was within a 15 min. drive.

Can't wait to return for a longer stay. Our weekend just flew by.

Many thanks to David, the property manager, for the house tour, and to Barbara for the yummy gift basket.

Amazing house and great location!

  • 5 of 5

I spent a girls weekend at this house and it was exactly what we needed...gorgeous house to sit, relax and chat! The property manager, David, and owner, Barbara, were extremely helpful and gave us suggestions on where to eat and visit. The main street is less than 5 minutes from the house and we thoroughly enjoyed the shopping! We are hoping to make this an annual tradition with our friends.
