The 3 decks of this beautiful condo overlook Sail Bay in Mission Bay, yet this home is also less than 100 yards from the ocean. This allows easy access to the surf, yet provides a quiet retreat in the evening.

This property recently underwent a major renovation with professional designers and was featured in San Diego Magazine's Design section! The living room and kitchen overlook the beach. The dining room sits just back of the living room. The dining table is 60'' round, which accommodates 8, but also has 2-15'' leaves for even larger gatherings. This is not a typical rental with sparse decorations; this is a lovely home. But as beautiful as the decor is, it is only matched by the views of the water below.

The living room has a 48'' HDTV with surround sound and remote controlled lighting in both the living room and dining room.

The gourmet kitchen was professionally designed with high-end appliances, custom cabinets, sandblasted bar and stunning glass tile backsplash and contemporary countertops.

Two central air conditioner cool up and down stairs, but are rarely necessary due to the cool ocean breezes.

There are two master bedrooms suites and no bedroom is adjacent to another, providing maximum privacy.

The 13 x 35 ft. 3rd floor deck has a lovely garden gazebo ideal for barbequing on its LYNX Pro BBQ and entertaining with it's bar and refrigerator.

Three parking spaces, unheard of at the beach, make beach living easy and a location around the corner from watercraft rentals and bicycle rentals make having fun a breeze! This is beach living at its best.

The location of this condominium also makes it easy to enjoy the other sights and events beautiful, fun San Diego has to offer.

About Sally Hardwick

Our primary home is in the high desert so San Diego is a great escape from winter weather and a nice change from snow in winter and the intense heat of summer. Now retired, my husband and I like to spend time in San Diego with friends and family, which we regularly do. Therefore, you will find our home to be very well supplied and maintained. It is our second home though we enjoy sharing it with others who visit San Diego. I'm sure you'll feel at home as well.

Why Sally Hardwick chose Mission Beach

We shopped for a couple of years before buying our home. Our family is all very tall, so it was important that we find a home that was large enough to be comfortable. And, we found it! Our home has very generously sized rooms...2 master suites and two other bedrooms that are very comfortable. We also liked the fact that there is lawn out front before the sand. This allows us to play games like crochet, frisbee, etc. without having to get sandy (unless we want to!). Our home is also close to cafes and beach rentals for beach toys and equipment, bicycles and wet suits. There is a playground for children very nearby and basketball and tennis in the same area, just step away. We love our location: it is convenient, not as busy as the ocean side (though just a few steps away) with immediate access to all our favorite activities.

  • The master bathroom was recently remodeled and has a spa tub, huge shower and is very spacious and light filled.

  • All bedrooms are very nice sizes and no bedroom is adjacent to any other, so each has privacy. Only bedroom #4 has a detached bathroom and it is immediately outside its door. Bedrooms 1 and 3 have full baths with separate bathtubs and showers and double sinks. Bedroom 2 has a combined shower/tub. Bedrooms 1 and 2 both open to the large upstairs deck and bedroom 1 also has its own private deck.

Notes:
There are stairs up to our unit and then stairs again to the upper floor so our home is not wheelchair accessible and may be difficult for those with mobility problems. Please call if you've any questions. Our home has 3 decks. The large upper deck has a shade pergola and BBQ island with sink and refrigerator. There are 2 tandem indoor parking spaces and 1 outdoor space. Please avoid large SUVs if possible, although you may be able to park on Santa Clara Pt. if your vehicle is too tall for the garage. Santa Clara Pt. also has tennis, basketball, watercraft rentals and a children's playground. Our home is also located on an area of the beach with a grass apron so it is great for volleyball, football and just relaxing out of the sand.

Perfect For Our Family!

What a great home. Three balconies, four bedrooms and baths and a very well stocked kitchen were all terrific. Beds are comfortable and baths luxurious. Suzi, our greeter did a great job and was very responsive when we had questions. Big garage had plenty of room for our car, plus Kayak and Stand up paddle boards, surfboards and other gear. We will definitely try to book this place for our next family trip to San Diego. Thanks Sally & Suzi!

Beautiful Bayside rental in a great location - Highly Recommend

Highs: Fantastic location, much of the rental is newly remodeled, able to comfortably accommodate 5 adults and 2 teenagers

Cons: Bring extra paper goods, lighting controls are confusing

Let’s get those cons out of the way quickly so we can move on to the really good stuff. When you pay $750 a night all up (taxes, cleaning fees, etc.), I don’t think it is too much to ask to have more than one roll of TP and a full soap dispenser in each bathroom, a box of Kleenex (or 2), an extra roll of paper towels. That said, if we had been told about the need to bring those things up front, we would have prepared. My suggestion - if not provided, the need to bring extra should be called out in the documentation for the rental. The only other “con” was that the lighting controls for the dining/family room areas needed a bit more explanation. There was a controller labeled “lights” but they didn’t seem to control anything or the batteries were dead. We never figured out how to turn on all the lights in the kitchen. However, if it were really a big deal we would have contacted the rental owner’s assistant. She was fabulous and right next door.

Pros - The pros GREATLY outweigh the few cons. First the location is perfect! We’ve stayed in several places on Mission Beach and this was by far the best location. Right on the beach (Bay side) with a little grassy area in front for games, many things were within easy walking distance - extra parking in one of the big lots, jet ski and canoe rentals, restaurants and coffee and - most importantly - the ocean side beach was less than a block away. The rental itself was beautiful and clearly in the midst of an overall renovation. The master bedroom and bath was really gorgeous and one of the other bedrooms (and attached bath) had also recently been redone. We were able to put the teenagers in their own room with their own bath which was great! The dining room table and a patio table upstairs was able to sit everyone and the furniture was very comfortable. The house itself was very quiet. We never heard the downstairs renters or each other in the bedrooms, nor did I hear the tv even though the master bedroom is right above the family room.

Bottom line - the next time we go back to San Diego, I would stay here again.

I am so sorry for the inconveniences you experienced and am more so because extra TP and kleenex is on-site and readily available if we had known you had run out. Ordinarily, more than a single roll of TP is available and a few boxes of Kleenex are left out, but my regular cleaner is out of the country so our substitute apparently forgot these items. I will be sure to check the lighting remote control to be sure it is working properly. Thank you for alerting me to that. And, yes, my assistant is wonderful and always happy to help our guests and assure their comfort. We do hope you return and when you do, should anything be amiss, just let us know and we are happy to address any of your concerns. Thank you again for choosing our home!

Great location close to everything you need

The condo was perfect for the 6 adults and 3 kids under 3 years of age

Only concern. If you rent a van parking in the garage is really tough and if you rent a suburban it can't be done BUT you can park free 24/7 in the Santa Clara Street parking lot

Which is a 3 minute walk A minor inconvenience in an otherwise terrific rental

Outstanding home for families, central to everything, well managed.

We stayed in this home while attending a recent college graduation. Located directly on the Bay, the place offers fantastic views, and easily accommodates a large family. The home is well maintained and well managed, and was an enjoyable place to stay while taking advantage of its proximity to both Pacific Beach/Mission Beach and the downtown areas. I would absolutely recommend staying here to anyone looking for a large family retreat in the area.

Great stay on the Bay

A perfect house for our multi generation family stay of 7 adults. Great separation of space with 3 of the 4 bedrooms having their own bathrooms, and 3 separate patios. A handy beer and beverage fridge on the upper one. A modern well equipped home in a terrific central location. Just a single used roll of TP in each bathroom seemed skimpy but we had to go shopping for meals and snack stuff anyway- which is just a walk (or very short drive) away. Lots of restaurant options nearby as well as rentals of any bikes, boards, or boats you may want for the beach or bay. Recommend for families or groups of couples.
