Property description

The Space
I promise you will not find more authentic Highlands charm at any other rental. The 1/2 mile FLAT walk to everything could not be more convenient- you are truly in the middle of the action without having to battle parking. Yes, we have central heat and AC. Serenity is offered by the lush abundance of old growth rhododendrons and Hemlocks. Did we mention it's private and fenced?

Listing is comprised of two free-standing units:
1. The Main Cabin: This cozy cabin is perfect for entertaining. The original 6 burner Wolf range from the 1940's is in perfect combination with the updated stainless steel appliances. The living and dining areas are joint, spacious, and flooded with light. This cabin also features a wood burning fireplace, dining table for 6-8, rocking chair from porch, fully fenced yard, indoor soaking tub, two stand alone showers, memory foam mattresses in both bedrooms (1 king and 1 queen). Both bedrooms have in-suite bathrooms.
2. The Guest Cottage: Formerly an artist's studio, Adirondack Cottage is flooded with natural light and treetop privacy. Made cozy by its original appointments such as cedar shake siding and antique windows. It's oozing with charm! The cabin includes 2 queen bedrooms with memory foam mattresses in both, one tiny bathroom with a stand-alone shower, a full, spacious kitchen with modern appliances, and a joint living/dining area for four.

The Neighborhood

The location is majestic. Privacy is offered by the abundance of maples, hemlocks, and old growth rhododendrons on the property. Walk to Harris Lake for ice skating in the winter or catch and release in the summer. Walk to sunset rock or a 5 minute flat walk to town for shopping, spa, golf, and dining.

Getting around

Property is easily accessible and does not require 4 wheel drive, but it's always nice to have in and around Highlands, especially in winter months.

Other Things to Note

Highlands is located on a plateau in the southern Appalachian Mountains, within the Nantahala National Forest. With stunning mountain vistas and prolific waterfalls, it's the 2nd Highest incorporated town east of the Mississippi River at 4,118 feet. Highlands is one of the few temperate rain forests in North America, bringing botanists and nature lovers from around the globe.
The bustling mountain village centering around main street is lined with
shopping, dining, museums and galleries. Highlands is a mecca for outdoor enthusiasts with abundant opportunities for biking, hiking and horseback riding, tubing, canoeing, fly fishing and whitewater rafting.
Highlands is a year round destination- visit in the spring for the blooming of native mountain laurel, watch the hues of reds and yellow leaves in the fall, or admire the crystal-clear long-range views the snow blankets allow in the winter. About the owner: A huge fan of all things food, wine, and hospitality, I am a restaurateur turned real estate hopeful. This is my fourth property in Highlands. Sharing my home with guests allows me to tap into all of the wonderful things I love about being in restaurants, most notably being able to mold peoples experiences into something that is truly unforgettable.
