We bought this vacation property with thoughts for retirement. We currently live in Annapolis, MD, where we enjoy sailing. We have family in the Berkshires who enjoy all its offerings. We have vacationed in the Berkshires and enjoy swimming, boating, kayaking, hiking, and biking, as well as golf in the summer and skiing in the winter. We enjoy the foliage in the fall and culture all year round.
Helen and Josh Alspector purchased this house in 2014
This property fits our needs perfectly. It is neither too big or too small. We have updated it to a standard which we enjoy. The proximity and easy access to the lake was of primary importance. We needed enough space to include a gym and adequate storage, and sleeping accommodations for family and friends. We wanted to be in the Berkshires to enjoy the great outdoors, family, and culture.
The house has a lovely, private setting but is within a short distance of cultural venues, restaurants, shops, hiking trails, Stockbridge Bowl, ski slopes, and golf courses.
We have just returned from a lovely, relaxing vacation of two weeks in the Berkshires. This house is exactly as pictured and described. It is very close to all of the cultural attractions in Lenox and Stockbridge, yet completely tranquil and surrounded by natural beauty. The owners were extremely thoughtful and generous, providing everything you could possibly need for your stay (all paper products, hand and body soaps, shampoo and conditioner, kitchen supplies including spices, coffee filters, plastic wrap, foil wrap, garbage bags, etc.). They met us at the house to show us around and made us feel very comfortable and free to enjoy our vacation. They also provided a binder filled with recommendations about activities in the area and other useful information. We took advantage of theater, restaurants, museums, the Berkshires Crafts Fair, and local sightseeing, while also being able to return each day to a beautiful house where we could completely relax and enjoy the surrounding scenery. We definitely recommend this house for your Berkshires vacation.
The area is rich with cultural activities including Tanglewood which is the home of the Boston Symphony during July and August. Shakespeare and Company is located in Lenox. Jacob's Pillow, a center for dance, is a short drive away. There are antique shops, art galleries, and museums close by. The Berkshires are spectacular for leaf peeping in the fall. In the winter, there is skiing at Bousquet, Butternut, and Jiminy Peak, all within driving distance. If you enjoy the great outdoors, you can hike, bike, kayak, canoe, swim, golf, and walk. To enrich your body and soul, Kripalu is less than five minutes away. Shopping and great restaurants are located in Stockbridge and Lenox.
