About Lynne Greene

We bought our property in 2004. Over the past 14 years, we have reestablished the natural wetlands. We completed construction on our 'green' home in July of 2014. We plan to retire to Taos someday. Meanwhile, Dieter, a Master Chef, and Lynne, a Psychologist working with seniors, are in the San Francisco Bay area.

Why Lynne Greene chose Ranchos de Taos

Taos is magical and unique. There is everything and nothing to do there. You can while away your days watching the sky and clouds. Or there is shopping, excellent food, world class art, music, theater...and then there is the outdoors. The history of Taos is like nowhere else in the U.S. The backdrop of Taos Mt and the Pueblo enhance the mystique and power of this beautiful place.

What makes this house unique

Our home is surrounded by pastures on all sides while only ten minutes to Taos downtown plaza. Our home was built with the love of natural local artisans and craftsmenship. It has been furnished to create a warm, relaxing family vacation home.

Our stunning location and natural wetlands attract birds and animals - being in the valley and green while part of the desert surroundings is ideal.

We had an absolutely magical stay! Thank you!

  • 5 of 5

My wife and I travel to Taos a couple times a year and we always chose someplace new or different to stay. Without hesitation, I can say that your home was absolutely magical and just what we needed and the best HomeAway experience we have had to date.

Your home was appointed with all the perfect items to make us feel at ease and at home. The kitchen was spectacular and the open design of the common area was welcoming. We so enjoyed our time, just relaxing and looking over the spring-fed pond.

Thank you so much for opening your home to us. It is exactly the way we would want our home built in Taos.

Beautiful home....but.

  • 2 of 5

I hope you resolved your problem with the feral cat and 4 kittens. It changed our perspective on our stay. We were unable to enjoy the portal due to the constant presence of the cat demanding to be fed. When we were inside the home the cat sat at the back door begging for food. My disappointment was in the inaction of the owner. The lack of response to our calls was underwhelming. No response from the local housekeeper/manager after the 1st day and no response from the owner after the 2nd day. If the property hadn't been advertised as "no pets" I would assume some responsibility for my decision to stay there but that wasn't the case. Also, there was no follow up on the promise to refund the first nights rent for our inconvenience. Taos was great though...met some nice folks and enjoyed the food, museums and art.

Owner's Response: It is unfortunate that you were so disturbed by this feral cat showing up near our home. The animal has been humanely trapped and taken off the property. I must say that you have grossly distorted the events. Our property manager and I called you immediately and left several messages which were never returned or acknowledged. Our manager came to the house several times to try to trap and remove this cat. As she did not want to disturb you, she did not ring the doorbell. We also offered you a free nights stay and offered to pay for you to stay in a hotel since you stated you were “insanely phobic” of cats. A feral animal showing up was outside our control until we could capture and find a humane way to remove the cat. If you read our other reviews, you will see that we are outstanding owners who will do everything we can to ensure someone’s stay is ideal. You would not cooperate in any way and were determined to be angry and unhappy with your stay. That is unfortunate.

Warm and inviting, beautiful views

  • 5 of 5

We had such an amazing weekend in this home. I can not say enough wonderful things about our stay. The home is warm and inviting with an open floor plan but we spent most of our time enjoying the patio and the incredible views. I sent the house information to so many friends and family in hopes that they will have the opportunity to have this experience. Jackie was very nice and accommodating. We can't wait to come back!!!

Awesome House

  • 4 of 5

The house itself is awesome, plenty of room, comfortable beds, clean, has everything you will need. Jackie was great to work with. Five minute drive into town. Why four stars? Amenities state there is air conditioning, there is no air conditioning. While the house cools down at night, during the day it can get warm inside even with all the windows open. Other than no A/C, very nice place to stay.

Great place to unwind

  • 5 of 5

The house is amazing. After a day of hiking and seeing the beauty of the area, it was great to come back to this setting, enjoy a glass of wine and take in the majesty of the mountains. As it cools down, the hot tub or sauna are ready to relax some aching muscles. After grilling some Steaks, we enjoyed sitting on the patio and listening to the sounds of the country. Be sure to wake up early to see the sunrise over the mountains through the large window in the master bedroom. You will also see Mr. Muskrat taking his morning swim across the pond. The kitchen was well equipped. We did not need the cast iron skillet we brought with us. Simply put, this is a place for restoring your sole.
