About Andrew Chiodi

I love the outdoors. I have lived in California for over 16 years and grateful for the opportunity to share this cozy, beautiful mountain home with family, friends and guests. I hope you enjoy it as much as I do!

PS: The neighbors are truly great.

Andrew Chiodi purchased this chalet in 2014

Why Andrew Chiodi chose Moonridge

The combination of the Moonridge area of Big Bear Lake, and the amenities of the home, strike a great balance of the things I seek when I want to get away from the city and enjoy the beauty of the surrounding San Bernardino National Forest.

Excelent - very clean, well provisioned, good parking,

  • 5 of 5

We had a great stay in the cabin for Thanksgiving. Two families shared the cabin and there was plenty of space for folks to watch the football games on TV. The kitchen was roomy and very well stocked for cooking meals; two of which were for guest as well, so we had about 15 people in total. While there is not a large family table we had brought a fold up table ourselves. That and the seating around the kitchen bar, breakfast table and family room couches and chairs was more than enough.

Main points we found:

- Overall the whole cabin was very clean and well provisioned

- The bedrooms were nice and beds were comfortable

- kitchen is fully stocked with pots, pans, wine glasses

- good parking and access

- supplied salt for the driveway incase it snowed - which it did on our stay

-

Good communication with the owner before the trip. It is very comforting to know all is ready and that we were expected.

Thank you for all the accommodations and your great cabin.

The Mountains Are Calling And I Must Go! (If that is what you are thinking, this place is for you!)

  • 5 of 5

Whatever is calling YOU to the mountains, I think this lodge will work for you. For ME, I need mountain time...peace, perspective, nature, time to play, time to just be, and to just breathe! Ski Bear Lodge caught my attention on VRBO, and from my initial look at the overview (description), reviews, rates, location, calendar, and photos on the VRBO site I was pretty certain this place was going to work for my family's stay in Big Bear. However, it was my initial contact with the owner, Andy, that confirmed this lodge would be more than just a place to stay. His continued kindness, helpfulness, welcoming spirit, and open communication from that initial contact, throughout our stay, and after, made it feel like we were old friends being welcomed into his home rather than simply strangers renting a place for a week.

From the moment I arrived, I saw little details that demonstrated to me that Andy was thoughtful and wanted his guests to feel welcome. The address was well marked on both sides of the driveway and the home, there is a unique ski bear on the roof, a California State Flag flying outside, solar lights along the sides of the driveway, motion detection flood lights around the home, front porch with seating, the colorful front door etc. Ski Bear Lodge is warm, cozy, appealing, & inviting. I appreciated that Ski Bear Lodge was also clean and comfortable.

Since the experience and images (I took a lot of photos) of our trip are still lingering in my mind , there are too many wonderful things to list here in the review so I will give you some highlights that I felt stood out about Ski Bear Lodge in Moonridge:

1. Location (easy, short drive to anything want/need)

2. The owner, Andy (quick with responses, friendly, helpful, fair rates, quick to return full deposit, suggested things to do/places to go etc)

3. The details (color, art, AMAZINGLY well stocked kitchen even things I've rarely seen in a rental such as a large splatter screen, Wilton Round Pizza Pan and more (!!!), touches of nature in decor, ceiling fans, flashlight at entry, first aid supplies, notebook with instructions and brochures, & so much more)

4. Back deck (Hot tub, birds, grill, table/chairs)

5. I super loved the convenient driveway with EASY load/unload access (footsteps from door, and only ONE literal step to climb!)

6. Washer/Dryer, Dishwasher, Full sized & CLEAN refrigerator

7. Layout

8. Trees & Blue Sky

9. OWL MUGS!

Loved everything about our stay. We'll be back!

Owner's Response: Thanks so much for your review Cindy! I really do enjoy sharing my place with others and I'm always nervous about what people think of the cabin. But that's why I am always trying to improve on it. Hearing reviews like yours gives me so much motivation to do even better. In the future I want to add a side patio for the lower level to have another area outside to lounge in. Also add some pines around the back for more woodsy feeling. Thanks again!

Perfect and charming home

  • 5 of 5

We rented Andy's home for the tour de Big Bear and couldn't have asked for a better place. The house had everything we needed, good size kitchen, washer/dryer, WiFi, Hot Tub, and very comfy Futons. Those futons were definitely a nice bonus and our group commented on how well they slept on them.

Andy was very accommodating during our staying, he would respond back to me immediately if I had questions and offered recommendations on some of the local attractions.

We hope to rent this house next year.

Very Nice!

  • 5 of 5

We really enjoyed our stay here. The owner was very cordial and kind and responsive to requests. There is a nice area, right outside of the downstairs door that is perfect for sledding and snow play. Bottom room gets a little cold so make sure to light the fire before going down to sleep. The hot tub was perfect and very comfortable and theres a BBQ on the deck as well.

Another thing about the owner. This place is very reasonably priced, he's not overcharging at all. He refunded my cleaning fee the day we checked out... VERY FAST! He messaged me while I was there with dining and entertainment suggestions and making sure that we were cozy and happy.

Make sure that you are out by 10am because the cleaning lady shows up promptly at 10 and isn't very happy if you are there. Maybe she was having a bad day with us, we were out by 1030 and she obviously was bothered.

Also, make sure that if you park down in the driveway, you have chains, our truck got stuck and we had to spend a couple of hours getting it out.

Thank you Andy! We will return to this spot in the future.

Owner's Response: Hey Daniel, Sorry for the late response to your review. I didnt even see this response feature on here :O. Im going to have a gas wall heater installed sometime soon for the lower level. that should make a big difference for the heat situation. Sorry for the cleaning lady, shes usually very cheerful. She must have had a bad day! I also now have a bucket of rock salt on the porch in case there is snow in the forecast to help melt it as it falls on the driveway. Thanks, Andy C.

We had a wonderful time at the cabin and appreciated Andy's help during the big snowstorm. The furniture and beds were very comfortable, and we had everything we needed for our stay.

Great hospitality and stay!

  • 5 of 5

My friends and I had a wonderful time at Andrew's cabin! We had a little bit of an issue with the snowfall covering the whole driveway and us worrying about our cars getting stuck but Andrew quickly solved the problem by calling a snow plowing service to come by and help us shovel all the snow out. And the neighbors were so nice to help as well! The house was fully equipped with everything and we all enjoyed using the board games and tv, as well as hot tub after a day of snowboarding. Overall a wonderful stay! Thanks so much Andrew!

Owner's Response: Thanks for your review! Snow events are a mixed blessing, great for skiing but bad for getting around in ;-) If anyone plans to go to Bear Mountain Ski Resort, you can walk to the over spill lot about 3 blocks away. Its on Moonridge Blvd. Andy C.
