This newly renovated condo on the 2nd floor of a two story building, pleases and soothes in every way. This condo is designed for comfort and relaxation. The kitchen provides everything needed to prepare a gourmet meal for friends and family, or afternoon pupus.

With extra living space on the large lanai, you can enjoy delicious meals or a superb Maui evening with wine or cocktails al fresco. We have a wonderful peekaboo ocean view!

The BBQ grill is just a short walk down the steps next to our observation deck, perched over the seawall. This is a fabulous spot for enjoying one of our amazing sunsets, or watching the turtles swim by.

A low density property, Maui Sands glows with the ambiance and charm of Old Hawaii. We have 20 units in a traditional 2-story building, in a park-like setting. We are in the heart of Honokowai, close to delicious take-out and dine-in restaurants, as well as shopping, grocery stores, and the award-winning Farmer's Market.

About Heather Buono

This condo is unique in that it has the undying love and attention of three special couples who are partners and friends in it's ownership.

*The first couple is Dave and Betsy. 'We each discovered Hawaii in our youth, and our love of it was one of the first things we learned we had in common. After a Hawaiian-themed wedding, we flew to Maui from Olympia, Washington, for our honeymoon. As high school teachers, we were able to spend many winter breaks in Maui; and, eventually, we discovered Maui Sands. It felt like a miracle to be able to own part of Unit 715, and it has become a cherished second home. Snorkeling, whale watching, exploring, and reading at the beach during the day, then, visiting with friends and watching the sun drop into the ocean each evening from the deck—what a life!' *The second couple is Paul and Deana. 'We are a retired couple living in Vancouver Washington. We jumped at the chance to own a piece of paradise. Spending part of our retirement in Hawaii has been a dream come true. The peacefulness of Maui Sands and the neighborhood of Honokowai are big pluses for us. The nearby Farmers' Market as well as restaurants and a supermarket allow us to stay close to home if we choose. Sunsets, views of Lanai & Molokai and sea life add to the serenity. Exploring the island and enjoying its natural beauty are a part of every visit.' *The third couple is Paul and Kathy. ' We are lifelong residents of Lacey, Washington. We were presented the opportunity to buy-in on this partnership (we were reluctant at first), and we are sure glad we took the leap! This place is wonderful!

We could easily just say 'ditto' to the comments/reasons our partners provide above regards what to enjoy here at Maui Sands and on the island of Maui. We would be remiss, however, if we didn’t share Paul’s personal favorite – enjoying a good Syrah or Cabernet watching each evening’s sunset just out front atop the seawall, or Kathy’s appreciation for all the opportunity to indulge in the island’s arts and crafts scene. The inspiration is endless.

We had a wonderful time on Maui. The best find was Honolua Bay for snorkeling. Thee is a huge reef about 100 yards off to the right. We saw sea turtles, an eel and so many fish.

The best food finds were poke at Costco, poke at Tamuras fine wine (in Kahului, and Lahaina), and the seared Ahi sandwich at Leoda's Pie shop in Olowalu.

The condo was perfect. It is a great location and we loved falling asleep to the sounds of the waves. Thank you so much!

This unit is perfect to snorkel, paddle board and kayak right off the shoreline! There are three volcanic reefs that run parallel to the shoreline. During low tide, the inner area, between the seawall and the first reef is perfectly protected for keiki to play in the water and build sand castles. Between the first and second reef, the water is between 7' and 4' deep, perfect for swimming with the turtles and enjoying a morning swim. Outside the second reef, and inside the third, is a wonderful labyrinth of lava nooks and crannies that provide great snorkeling! Maui is a magical place at all times of year!

It was very clean and spacious. Lovely lanai. Not a great view at all and not in a great location. The picture on the advertised of this Ocean Front Property is taken from the adjacent resort. The brown building in the shot is this listed resort. Not able to get down to the beach as it shows in the picture either. Water was always too high so this must be a very old picture I would gather. To walk wasn't a nice area. Had to drive to get to any nicer area or larger beach.

Owner's Response: I'm very sorry the guest was not able to enjoy the really great snorkeling and swimming from the shoreline. We try very hard to make sure our listings are accurate, and that we meet our guests expectations. The photograph is taken in front of the building where this unit is located at Maui Sands II. The brown building she is referring to is a Maui Sands I building. This picture was taken approximately 3 years ago, and the landscape has not changed. The photos on the listing of the view from the lanai are also accurate. There is a stair leading down to the shoreline from the seawall next to the second palm tree in the picture. We include in the hospitality application connected to this unit directions to some of the larger beaches in the area as well. One of Maui's most beautiful beaches and beach walks is Honua Kai beach that is a comfortable 3-5 minute walk from this property. What you will see from other reviews for this property is that the close location to the ocean does include a very lovely view of the garden, but also a view to the ocean, and the relaxing sound of the waves can be heard from every room. This is not advertised as an ocean view, and the price would certainly have been adjusted accordingly if this were an ocean view unit. We were very happy with this guests stay, as they took good care of the unit. At no time did they let us know they were unhappy. I'm very sorry they did not appreciate the space. I wish them a better match for their future vacations.

Quiet, accessible and accommodating

We stayed at their place for about a week. The location was amazing, it was 10 seconds from the beach (5 if you're sprinting)! It was very private and quiet. Great place if you're looking to relax and get away from the busy hotels. That being said, it was very central as well. There were convenience stores, restaurants and bars just a hop, skip and a jump away.

There was a famer's market not too far away where you can get fresh fruits and organic produce. Also, the on-site property manager (Heather) was very accommodating and quick to respond.

We will definitely be back!

Wonderful place to stay

Great location, nicely stocked with all imaginable needs, super close to the beach. The washer and dryer were a great amenity, especially with all the sand and salt water.

It was awesome

This condo is a very beautiful place to stay. Its about 20 feet to the private beach and amazing views. My wife and I slept with the windows open, we could hear the crashing waves, it was relaxing. The inside of the condo was immaculate. The furniture is comfortable, the washer and dryer were a huge plus and all of the stores around there were in walking distance even the grocery store. If you are looking for a quick bite there is a fish market across the street which was decent but i recommend Java Jazz which is walking distance and has great customer service. Try the Fantapano OMG the best thing to ever enter my stomach lol. You can also rent snorkeling gear across the street very inexpensive.

Amazing,clean,comfortable, and breath taking beach access!

This was our first time in maui and renting a condo on vrbo. Heather was amazing. She was very informative, upfront, and quick to respond to all of our questions. She made us feel very comfortable in choosing this beautiful condo for our stay. I can not say how beautiful this condo is. It is private, close to snorkel rentals, a walk across the street to good eats, close to tourist attractions and many other beaches. The best part of the condo would have to be the private beach access. It beautiful in the morning as it is breathtaking upon the evening. We caught many sunsets while here on our short stay. Would recommend this condo in a heart beat.

First time on Maui; glad we picked Maui Sands

We enjoyed our stay at Maui Sands. The little extras (a nicely stocked kitchen for example) were much appreciated. Great to have a washer / dryer. Very cleaned and cared for. Convenient location for activities around Maui. Mere steps from a lovely little section of beach. We hope to return!

Honokawai is located on the Northwest shore of Maui, with views of the islands of Molokai and Lanai across the channel. Maui Sands epitomizes old school Hawaii ambiance. This is a low density property, with beautiful grounds, including mango and banana trees.

We are a very easy short walk from some lovely beaches and a Honokawai park. There are many good local restaurants, a large grocery store, two farmers markets, a health food store, a coffee shop and some great spa facilities, all within a 3-5 minute walk. One of the favorite things about this location is the Farmers Market that is a short walk away across from the Honokawai Beach Park. They hold a special outdoor produce market on Monday, Wednesday and Friday mornings, but they offer fresh organic produce and a deli from 7am to 7pm, 7 days a week.

A short drive south to Whalers Village, and further on to Lahaina brings you to great Front Street shopping and historic sights. The Historic town of Lahaina has something for everyone, from Warren and Annabelles Magic Show (some of the best close hand magic we've ever seen) to shopping and the Award Winning Ulalena show at the Maui Myth and Magic Theater. You will have no problem finding great entertainment.

The Wharf in Lahaina has it's share of wonderful excursions to choose from as well. We particularly like Trilogy for a day trip to the Island of Lanai. There are many sunset cruises to choose from, fishing, sailing, and whale watching trips to fit most budgets.

North towards Kapalua there are 3 more championship golf courses, as well as fabulous beach walks and mountainside hiking! Nothing like a sunset view from the side of a volcano!

We are within minutes of some terrific restaurants and a short drive from many many more. Ocean gear such as fishing equipment, snorkel gear, and kayaks can be rented within walking distance. There is a bicycle and scooter rental across the street.

Some of our favorite Island Highlights would be: traveling the Road to Hana, with waterfalls and sight-seeing around every bend: sunrise or sunset viewing from the top of our volcano, Haleakala; picnicking at historic I'ao Valley, with a short walk up to I'ao Needle and back by way of the I'ao Stream Trail, and many more!
