About the property

4 Bedrooms, 2 Bathrooms, Big Kitchen, Hot Tub, Pet Friendly!

This charming East Sooke house is the ideal home base for a larger group traveling to the west coast of Vancouver Island. The house sits on one acre of land and has a large sunny deck with a hot tub. There are limited but uplifting ocean views from the deck and from the bedrooms. Inside you find comfortable furnishings, a washer and dryer, a cozy wood stove for those rainy days and a big, fully equipped kitchen. Enjoy exploring the many nearby beaches and breathtakingly beautiful parks. There are 2 marinas within a 10 minute drive. Both have public boat launches and one offers boat rentals. Some of the best salmon and halibut fishing on the west coast of north america is found just off the beaches here. A country store stocked with all necessities is just a 5 minute drive down the road. The house is located 15 minutes from the town of Sooke, 20 minutes from greater Victoria and 40 minutes from downtown Victoria, the capital city of the province of B.C. The house sleeps 6 comfortably in four bedrooms.

About Rob Seemann

Greetings from beautiful Sooke, British Columbia!

My name is Rob.

I have built this house and owned it for almost 20 years now. I grew up in Munich, Germany and have lived in Canada since the age of 19. I travel a lot and usually stay in vacation rental properties myself. I am happy to give my guests a wonderful opportunity to call this fantastic area home for a few days or weeks and explore the many natural attractions Sooke and Vancouver island offer!

Rob Seemann purchased this chateau / country house in 1996

Why Rob Seemann chose Vancouver Island

Staying at Llanilar House gives you the best of both worlds when you visit the area!

A peaceful country setting where no light or sound pollution spoils your evenings as you stargaze from the deck at night. Yet only a short trip by car opens up incredible nature adventures and even shopping opportunities.

Guestbook comments from the owner

We thoroughly enjoyed our stay Llanilar House; it had everything we needed and was really cozy.

We would certainly stay again!

Happy New Year!

Cozy retreat

  • 5 of 5

We spent a week at this property over Christmas and it was a wonderful holiday! The house is very well equipped and cozy. It is close enough to the city to take advantage of all Victoria has to offer and yet out in the country where you can relax. We would certainly stay here again.

Loved this place!

Warm, cozy and just far enough off the beaten path to really be able to relax. Home was great. Hot tub was awesome! Soak tub was just what the wife wanted. Wood stove made it feel so nice in the evening. Deer walking through the yard in the morning was cool to see too.Would stay here again!

Family vacation

  • 5 of 5

We had unforgettable 2 weeks in Sooke. The house is very spacious, bright and clean. East Sooke park is just around the corner, so as the Galloping Goose trail.

Yes, you have to drive everywhere, but it was fun. My daughter said "Mom, you finally learned how to drive".

Hot tub was perfect, we used it every evening.

The only suggestion I have is to install window nets and window coverings on the front windows. Otherwise, we love our stay. Thank you Rob!

Four of us stayed in this amazing house for 6 nights. The house offered everything we needed plenty of space very comfortable beds. All the cooking equipment we needed, and of course the bar-b-que.

The hot tub was fabulous. We had a few initial problems getting the television sorted. Emailed the owner and he promptly replied and we were up and running.

So peaceful and quiet. A real get away from it all place.

We had daily visits from a family of deer which was lovely.

We would love to re visit this house should we return to Canada

Perfect spot for a getaway

  • 5 of 5

My family of four and my mom had a wonderful stay here!!! The rooms are spacious and clean and the house had everything we needed. It was great to have a washer and dryer to use as well. We all loved the jacuzzi and the the close proximity to great hiking. It was also close enough to Victoria to go and enjoy the day there.

I accidentally left my portable hard drive from work there when we left. Rob was gracious enough to get it shipped to me and even backed it up on his on computer in case something happened to in the mail.

You should stay here!! It's the perfect spot for a getaway!

Loved this place. Plenty of room and very nicely finished inside.

Really loved this place. Nice wood floors and plenty of room to just hang out. Great hot tube right outside with nice lighting. The location is on a hill and there is a limited view of the bay. Nice chairs to sit outside and just enjoy the air and the deer that showed up around the cabin. Loved every minute.

Things to be aware of: The gravel drive way is steep going up to the cabin, and loaded with 5 adults and luggage, I had to make two runs at it to get to the cabin.

Except for some great, close hiking in the East Sooke park and a 5 minute drive to a small grocery store, EVERYTHING is at least 20 minutes away. Its 20 minutes to Sooke that has the only restaurants and a larger grocery store and a marina, and 40 minutes to downtown Victoria. We were aware of the distance to Victoria, but driving the the little winding road to go anywhere got a little old. However, every time we drove the road, we did see deer. So, aside from the 20 minute drive, the place was wonderful and we had no complaints.

Owner's Response: I am really glad to hear that you enjoyed your time at the house! I just wanted to point out a few things to our future visitors: There are actually three marinas within a 10 minute drive from the house and two of them have water front restaurants where you can sit and watch the fish coming in, rent a boat or just hang out. I would encourage future visitors to check out the Smokin' Tuna Cafe at Beecher Bay Marina and the cafe at Pedder Bay Marina. The Glenrosa Farm Restaurant also is right beside Pedder Bay marina. The historic 17 Mile House Pub is 8 minutes from the house and offers excellent west coast cuisine and has an attached liquor store. For the adventurous the only forest zip line on the south island is part of the pub. The "My Chosin Cafe' is also an excellent restaurant about 20 min. from the house on the way to Victoria but be prepared for a line up... Only the last 5 minutes on your way to the house are on a paved, windy country road. The rest is regular highway travel. When you enter the property expect a flat gravel driveway and then a very short incline as you arrive. We had guests towing boats with two wheel drive vehicles to the house. To our future guests: Please make sure you ask us for pointers. There is so much to see and do in the area! Cheers, Rob
