Overview

About the property

4 bedrooms/2 bathroom

A neighbor coined my house 'The Happy House', because he said it made people happy when they were here. I am hoping that carries over to all the people who stay here. This sweet house, with its cheery décor, has a lot of personality and artistic charm. It is located about 8 miles north of downtown, in the eclectic Lake City/Meadowbrook area of Seattle. There are four bedrooms all with queen beds. The nightly rate includes up to 6 guests. After 6 guests, there is an additional $20 per guest per night fee. The efficient kitchen is well stocked and located conveniently next to the outdoor and indoor dining areas. The house has two bathrooms (one on each floor), a living room, dining room, TV room with DVD player, a washer/dryer, wireless high-speed Internet, and off-street parking for several cars. There is also a hot tub and an outdoor ping pong area! You'll find the beds lovingly made, fresh towels in the bathroom, and a coffee/tea service in the kitchen, in addition to other homey touches, so you can begin your relaxing vacation the minute you arrive.

What makes this house so special are all the different spaces for relaxing or mingling. Build a fire in the cozy living room or outdoor fire pit. Take a long, soaking hot tub and enjoy the night sky. Play a game of ping pong in the covered, outdoor ping pong area (with lights for nighttime playing as well!.) Make a bowl of popcorn and watch a movie in the cozy TV room. Hang out on the front porch with a glass of wine and take in the beautiful garden. You will feel like you stepped out of the city's fast pace into a magical world of its own.

The house is also conveniently located close to many Seattle favorites, all the while being off the main circuit. Greenlake, a popular Seattle park for walking, rollerblading, biking, swimming, paddle boarding and kayaking, is 3 miles away, The Burke Gilman trail is about a mile away. This paved bike and jogging trail is detached from most roads and winds its way from the north end of Lake Washington to just north of Lake Union; connecting you to other parts of North Seattle such as the U-district, Wallingford, Fremont and Ballard. Matthews Beach, where you can swim in Lake Washington, is only 2 ½ miles away. The house is located within walking distance to coffee shops, restaurants, a wonderful nature park, tennis courts and the Meadowbrook Community Center, with adjoining children’s play park and athletic track at Nathan Hale High. You can easily hop on a bus to downtown, just a half a block walk up the street.

lovely home!

  • 5 of 5

My family (mom, husband, 3 & 1 year old) stayed at the Happy House for a week over Easter. We were delighted when we pulled up to the house. The pictures just don't do it justice - it has such a wonderful energy to it. It has an awesome location! We were close to several shopping places/restaurants/family entertainment. It's off the main drag but you would never guess it. It feels cozy and private and it's very quiet and has an AMAZING yard (best Easter egg hunt!). We enjoyed the hot tub and had several fires in the fire pit on the sunny days. There was just enough toys and fun games to keep our toddlers entertained. The house was comfortable and quite charming. It is very artfully done and makes you feel happy and at home! Melissa is an excellent host - we were welcomed by a great bottle of wine and Easter chocolates! She also let us borrow some baby gear she had on hand which made our stay much easier. We would definitely stay here again! Thank you!

Great house and great location

  • 5 of 5

This house worked out perfect for my family. My daughter was getting married at Hangar 30 at Magnusun park and we wanted to stay close to the venue. We had my Mother, my sister and her husband and my nephew staying with us. Lots of room. The best part, was the day we arrived the weather was beautiful and we were actually able to sit outside in the beautiful garden and enjoyed a bottle of wine. This was after record rain in Seattle. The house has lots of cool artwork and just very fun. Melissa was very accommodating and we had everything we needed.

Love The Happy House

  • 5 of 5

This was one of our favorite houses we have stayed in. We are cooks and the kitchen was the most well stocked of all the houses we have rented. The knives were even relatively sharp and I didn't have to use mine (I always travel with my knives!). Many spices available as well as other kitchen staples in case you forgot to bring your own. The beds were comfortable as well as the bedding. The hot tub was hot and very clean and functioned well during our stay. The interior of the home is so homey and a touch bohemian. Loved it! Plenty of games downstairs and movies. The yard was great and would like to come back during nicer weather to enjoy it. The house is off a busy street but was not noisy and felt very private. The owner was in touch periodically to make sure we didn't need anything. The location was perfect for us since one of our daughters lives in Wallingford and was easy to commute back and forth. We will definitely stay there again!

Located in the North Seattle neighborhood of Lake City/Meadowbrook. The house is set back from the street and surrounded by gardens on all sides. It is a little oasis unto itself, even though it is in the middle of a fairly busy city neighborhood. The house is fenced on all sides, so it is safe for dogs and there is plenty of room for them to roam. You can catch a bus to downtown a half a block away. You can walk to restaurants, tennis courts, a playground for kids and recreation center.

About a mile north, is the center of Lake City, with an eclectic mix of ethnic shops and restaurants, a brew pub, great Thai food, Greek and Mexican food and a great greasy spoon breakfast place!
