We enjoyed this location! This house is large and has nice amenities like a fire pit, hot tub, nice decks and a tree swing. Unfortunately, we found the house to be extremely unkempt and run down, we did not have any dressers to hang clothes in the bedrooms, there are stains on the living room carpets, and the dinning chairs were filthy. Doors are missing from closets, the lighting in the bedrooms not connected to the light switches and difficult to use and the shades have cob webs and many don't work properly. Simple things like tissues and coffee filters were not provided. To our dismay the boys room downstairs doesn't have heat and not electric heater was not provided. The room was 50 degrees, the beds are falling apart and the TV appeared to be broken. We couldn't find any towels in the house so we finally looked in the dryer and found them. When we arrived the whole house reeked of pine sol. I noticed that the kitchen floor was sticky and ended up scrubbing the floor with a towel to get the pine sol residue off the floor. The fridge was dirty so I had to scrub it before putting our food into it; long story short we spent the first 2 hours cleaning the house to a level we could tolerate. The master bathroom has mold in the corner and we just had to live with that. I was embarrassed to host my friends in this home. We did have a nice time in the area and went to a local tasting room and the Petrified forest.
Our family, including eight people aged 65 years to 5 months plus two dogs, rented this property for a Christmas vacation. Communication with the property manager, Susan, was easy and she always got back to us quickly. She provided clear instructions for check-in and even went out of her way to research a special request we made for our stay.
The property itself was perfect for our group. Everyone remarked on how it was a great find, and many would like to return for another reunion there! I wouldn't call it a luxury property - it has a few quirks and shows some wear - but it is spacious, clean, bright, and had everything we needed. The view from the main living area is absolutely stunning. The pictures don't do it justice. You feel surrounded by nature. Even though the house isn't far from the road and has neighbors close by, it's surrounded by trees and is the highest house on the hillside so all you see is forest and mountains. We enjoyed watching the deer walk through the yard every morning.
The house is surrounded by a fenced-in yard and has a gated driveway, so it felt very secure. As described, there are multiple levels of decks which we enjoyed despite the chilly weather. We didn't use the pool but loved the hot tub. We also enjoyed the trampoline, the fire pit, and the bow and arrows. There's even a little treehouse out back which I'm sure kids would love. There was also plenty to keep us entertained indoors: a ping pong table in the garage, games upstairs, a TV in the master bedroom, wifi, and a nice wood-burning fireplace (bring your own wood). The kitchen was large and we prepared big family dinners there every night. We also loved having laundry machines available on site.
The four bedrooms were as described. As others have mentioned there is only one shower and it's in the bathroom off the master bedroom, which is a little awkward, but it worked out fine for our group. It's a beautiful double shower with marble tiles.
The location of the property was also perfect. It's literally surrounded by wineries and state parks only minutes away so our family stayed busy wine tasting and hiking. It's also walking distance to downtown Glen Ellen where there are several restaurants and small groceries. However, the walk is along a narrow road with no sidewalks (and people drive very fast) so driving is safer.
Overall we were very pleased with our stay. Thanks for a great Christmas!
We rented this house to celebrate my wife's birthday with the extended family. I felt that the our weekend was ruined.
We drove up from the Bay area on Thursday and arrived after 9pm. Upon arrival we found the house dirty - there were piles of dirty towels everywhere, all beds were messed up, the toilet dirty, the house stinking of dogs, the kitchen smelling of trash, muddy dog paw pront on the carpet. I called the emergency line and after 20 min got call back fromthe manager. She initially suggested we fix the beds ourselves. Only after I flatly refused to do any such thing, they agreed to come over and clean the house. They came after 10.30pm. Cleaning of the house included just fixing the beds, cleaning the toilets, vacuuming the floor and scrubbing the kitchen surfaces.
We received "clean" towela the next day - they were very old, had dirty spots and human hair on them. We didn't use any of towels, had the rest of the party bring towels with them.
The house is advertised as recently remodelled (masking tape can still be found) 4 bed 2 bath. Of the two baths, only has shower, the other has bath tub only. Of the 4 bedrooms, 3 are located on the main floor, while one is located on the lower floor. We found the bottom bedroom to be unusable - the floor of the house has subsided a bit, creating a crack on floor, making the door very hard to open, it didn't seem to have been used or cleaned recently as there were cob webs everywhere.
The dining area has 6 chairs which are covered with once-white fabric - we found them dirty and with food stains. All blinds were ditry and broken.
There is only one TV, in the master bedroom, connected bto a bundle of wires and powered by extension cord accross the room.
There were spiders moving around everywhere.
The house features outside pool, jacuzzi and gazebo. The pool is not heated so we could not use it. We used the jacuzzi, but I find it dangerous - it is connected to uncovered power outlet right next to it, so there is nothing preventing water from going into it. The gazebo has lights connected by 2 wires running unprotected accross the deck and plugged into power oulet near the area. To turn on - plug in the wires, to turn off - unplug them.
For our troubles we received refund for 1 night. That refund however dis not include the Tax collected on that amount.
It was a beautiful family reunion! Thank you for sharing your home with us.
We really enjoyed the outdoor area of this property the most. We used the BBQ, and ate outside in the cabana area all nights, and the kitchen was very big so it was comfortable to be in there with more than one person. The hot tub was perfect at night, and the view is amazing. We were aware of the one shower in advance, so we weren't shocked by that - plus we were with all friends so it was no big deal. Also, hint : there are speakers inside the room with the loft bed!!!
The downstairs twin beds pull out, so the game room can really sleep 4 people. We were hoping the bottom part of the loft was going to be a pull-out bed for convenience, but everyone slept comfortably!
We went with a group of 10 for the long memorial weekend. This home offers amazing views and a nice wide deck to enjoy it from. The patio by the pool/hot tub has plenty of comfortable seating and a nice mix of sun and shade.
The kitchen was well equipped for our group and the dishwasher worked well. There is a nice big dining table that made enjoying meals together comfortable. We used the grill a lot for quick and easy cleanup.
There was only one shower, which we didn't expect. It made it a bit of a challenge for 10 women to get ready for a day of wine tasting. There is a jacuzzi tub in the second bathroom.
We really enjoyed building a fire in the fire pit and enjoyed playing games on the stage out there. A great home to enjoy the outdoor space. We spent most of our weekend outside enjoying the patio.
The location is close to town with a quick drive or a short walk. Lots of wineries nearby with casual tasting rooms. Glen Ellen was a real delight and we would definitely recommend this home.
