This studio is attached to a main house. It is across a private dirt road from the railroad tracks surrounded by cedar, pine & aspen trees! It is cozy, inviting and serene. Along with all the comfortable amenities; 1000 sq ft back deck with an awesome tiki bar, charcoal BBQ, 65 jet hot tub with cool lighting scenes and a fireplace, bicycles, hammock and a fire pit for cowboy cooking. I have also stocked the kitchen with everything a cook would need. This place is meant for relaxation. Located on a half acre of land at the base of Schweitzer Mountain. A quick 10 min ride up the mountain (or a 2 min walk to the Schweitzer shuttle that runs every 30 min during season) for skiing, mountain biking, hiking etc. or 10 min drive to town for great restaurants, bars and shops.
In spring, summer & fall go Kayaking down sand creek, take a pend oreille lake cruise or choose from tons of other outdoor activities!
There is a DVD player with a small collection of DVD's for your enjoyment. 200 channels of satellite Cable is available. Satellite WIFI is available for e mail and internet surfing and it can be slow at times.
The main bed is a comfy queen and a day bed with a trundle bed that sleeps 2 (both single beds). The studio has a shower bathroom, kitchenette, TV, DVD. The studio can accommodate up to 4 people comfortably.
There are plenty of games, books, bring some DVD's to watch or choose from my small collection. I think you will truly enjoy your stay!
I was born and raised in Los Angeles then lived in downtown San Diego for 22 years. I have recently relocated to Sandpoint. I am a restaurant owner for 17 years. I love entertaining and hospitality. I have traveled extensively throughout Europe, South America, Canada, Asia and the United States. I have 3 dogs, a German Shepard, a mini Golden Doodle and a Maltese/ chihuahua mix. All rescues. My husband and I and our crew of hounds live on property. We have created a cozy space to relax in, get some work done and to play in. We hope you enjoy our home as much as we do.
Danielle Caniglia purchased this studio in 2007
I visited Sandpoint 9 years ago for the first time and fell in love instantly. I looked around and saw a majestic lake, an amazing ski mountain and the wonders of nature all around. I was super impressed with the restaurants and great wine at the local winery. I have used this house as a sanctuary to get away from the antics of downtown San Diego where I lived.
I completely remodeled the place when I first bought it. I took pictures as to what it was (those are in the house manual). I have a great passion in creating a comfortable, cozy and inviting space. I liked that this house was just outside of town and there aren't many people around. Its a very quiet neighborhood. Its wonderful to sit out on the porch at night and listen to the silence of the night.
The apartment is well laid-out with a nice sleeping area, full kitchen and beautiful bathroom. Moreover, there are plenty of supplies for the forgetful traveler: dishes, silverware, spices, toiletries, even coffee! This place is a tremendous value with a full-sized refrigerator, stove top, and oven which you won't find at hotels or similarly priced rentals.
The layout of the back deck and gathering area looks very nice (I didn't have the time to use them), and the hot tub is a must use (I MADE the time to use it).
The owners were gracious and accommodating - I would stay here again!
Daniela and Russ were great! Very hospitable and friendly. The studio was very cute and private. I would definitely stay again and probably will next time I am in the area. It was very clean and had anything you might need or have forgotten.
Overall this was an extremely nice vacation rental. The train noise is hard to get used to but the place is immaculate and very well designed and the backyard is a dream!
We had a great experience in this lovely home just at the base of Schweitzer Mountain. Stayed with another family and the home fit 8 of us nicely. The back deck is beautiful with a hot tub, built in outdoor fireplace. Nice to relax on the deck after a long day. The barbecue grills were also great which we used almost every night. The home is minutes from Sandpoint with cute shops and a great beach to hang out all day, walk or bike ride. The two bikes came in handy since we were not able to bring all out bikes and we were all able to bike together. We went to Silverwood Theme Park for the day and is about a 30 minute drive from the home. Home is very accommodating with kitchen and bath supplies and had supply of movies to watch and lots of games. We had no problems with the home, just a few questions which Danielle responded quickly and also checked in on us to make sure everything was ok. Yes, there is a train but just kept the front door closed and it didn't bother us. Would love to stay again and maybe in the winter and do some skiing this time!!
Very nicely decorated, quite clean, and gorgeous backyard facilities. Owners are very hospitable.
The house was charming and very close to Schweitzer and shops/restaurants. Perfect location for a stay at Schweitzer!
Private and quiet with the exception of the trains that pass by regularly across the street. It didn't bother me but my husband is a light sleeper.
We could hear the wild turkeys early in the mornings!
The cabin can be a little difficult to find if there is a lot of snow (which in our case covered the marker/address).
Upstairs rooms have slanted ceilings (A frame house) which may be an issue for taller family members.
The master is downstairs.
Good selection of DVDs to watch (comedies)!
Plenty of cooking utensils and dishes to handle cooking!
Overall, pleasant set up for a quiet and cozy ski trip!
We are located just a few miles outside of downtown Sandpoint or 9 miles to the top of Schweitzer Ski resort. Downtown Sandpoint is a quaint town with plenty of shopping, good restaurants, bars, a great winery and brewery. Its a 4 seasons kind of town with boating, hiking, mountain biking in summer and fall, skiing, snow mobiling, snow shoeing, snow boarding and much more in winter.
Take a beautiful drive around the lake in spring, summer and fall to the many picnicking spots and make sure to keep and eye out for Big horn sheep and bald eagles!
Sandpoint is a beautiful setting to get out in the magic of nature and regroup, rejuvenate and revitalize yourself. In summer I love to take the Pend Oreille lake cruise that includes dinner where we enjoy wine and lovely food from a local caterer.
Winter time is the time to hit the slopes that is usually full of fresh powder. Whatever your game is Sandpoint has it for you.
