About the property

3 bedroom house with loft, 2 bathrooms, full kitchen, sleeps 6-8 people

Alpine Retreat is a newer home completed in 2007. There are 3 bedrooms, two on the main level and one upstairs with an adjoining loft, and two bathrooms. The lower level entry is a storage area for sports equipment and the BBQ grill. The main living level also includes a well-equipped kitchen, a utility room with washer and dryer, access to the house-wide deck, and a large living-dining area with vaulted ceiling, lots of windows, Cable TV, CD/VCR/DVD players, and a wood stove. Currently we do not have wifi but understand it is available at a coffee shop and the library in town. Alpine Retreat is located in a quiet wooded area within walking distance of downtown Packwood. In season, watch elk graze in the yard and surrounding woods, or walk a couple of blocks to the Cowlitz River and try catching your dinner. Whether you prefer winter or summer recreational activities, or attending the Memorial Day and Labor Day Packwood Flea Markets, Alpine Retreat is centrally located.

Excellent get-a-way!

This is a very nice property and had everything one would need to make it cozy and inviting! We spent Thanksgiving 2016 with family and friends and would do it again here! It was clean and quiet and very easy to get to. The open floor plan was awesome and we enjoyed the windows that allowed the daylight in. Our thanks to the owners for sharing your place!

The property was clean and well kept. The amenities were fabulous! It worked very well for a family vacation to Mt Rainier.

A very nice place to stay!!

  • 5 of 5

We only got to stay for the weekend but we had a wonderful time. Got to see a young elk walk down the driveway Saturday morning. Friday night it was cold and rainy and we had a nice fire in the wood stove!! Saturday, after a day spent at Mt Rainier, we had a nice cookout on the grill and a fire in the fire ring out front. You should tell potential guests that the grill needs charcoal, it is not propane. Other than that, the cabin is clean, roomy, and peaceful. I would go there again if we have the opportunity.

Great stay

  • 5 of 5

This is a wonderful place that is a 10 minute walk from Packwood where there is a grocery store, gas station and pretty nice bar with pool table and good food. It was only a 15 minute drive to mt rainier national park, and just 45 minutes to the top of Sunrise. We thoroughly enjoyed the property and made use of the grill and firepit. No complaints at all.

This property is beautifully maintained and was all we expected.

  • 5 of 5

We thoroughly enjoyed our stay at Alpine Retreat. The house is beautiful and the owners were very easy to deal with. Stargazing from the deck and watching the small herd of elk work their way through the yard were two of the highlights of our stay. As others have mentioned, the deck railing is a bit flimsy, so we needed to watch our little on very carefully. We could not detect any cell phone service in the town, so using the HomeAway App at the house was not possible -- be sure you bring a copy of the directions to the house and the access information with you. While we understood there was no WiFi in the house, the lack of cell phone coverage, combined with the absence of WiFi in the house will make us think twice about returning.

Great weekend at Alpine Retreat in Packwood, Washington

  • 4 of 5

The house was very clean and well-equipped. It was within walking distance of the town of Packwood. The elk mosied through on a daily basis.

It wold be nice to have all the beds at least queen size. There was plenty of space and more suitable for adults.
