About Mike sloan
Love to climb and hike the great Alaska wilderness.
Why Mike sloan chose Talkeetna
Won't get a better view or a more private location. This is not a party place and group parties are not allowed. We suggest doing any partying in town.
What makes this House unique
Great hiking and close to town with the quietness of the wilderness. With the best view of Denali available in the area.

Great stay in Talkeetna headed to Denali
Excellent location. Owner is friendly, and a great communicator. Met us personally at cabin upon arrival to get us settled in. Would highly recommend this listing to any family.
Amazing view in heart of Alaska
Very clean, nice accommodations for family of 5. Fire pit and view of Alaskan mountain range are fantastic. Mike and Molly are very accommodating/nice hosts. This would have been a five star review if not for the bare bones kitchen with dorm fridge and hot plate -- tough for families who cook a lot. The updated laundry facilities were nice. We also liked the full size gas grill. This basement apartment is ideally located making a number of attractions accessible: Denali, Matanuska glacier, Independent Mine, and more. Owners gave great touring/safety advice and were responsive to requests.
Amazing view in this great family retreat!
View of the Alaska range and Denali was breathtaking and visible from every room! First impressions was that the pictures didn't do this place justice. We had plenty of room to spread out, very comfortable king bed in master, and sleeping for 3 kids in second bedroom.
We enjoyed relaxing in the Adirondack chairs to listen to the birds & take in the view.
Also appreciate the laundry room!
Great property, great hosts
This was definitely a highlight on our 2-week tour of the state. The view will literally take your breath away. We went into Denali Nat'l Park but had a better view from our bedroom window here. The house was spacious and quiet, even though it is a walk out basement. The hosts are very friendly, very neat people with great tips for what to do in the area. Talkeetna is an adorable little town, like straight out of the Wild West with plenty to do. There is lots of hiking in the area also.
This is in the basement of a home outside of Talkeetna. Beautiful view of Denali and surrounding mountains. Place was very clean; area was quiet. Mikes wife checked on us right after we arrived and was very friendly, eencouraging us to contact her or Mike if we needed anything. Owners stayed upstairs but we rarely heard them. Kitchen is basic with small refrigerator and no stove or microwave however there is a 2 burner hot plate. Beds were comfortable. A couple little things that would have increased my review from a 4 star to a 5 star: a second pan-we made spaghetti one night and really could have used a second pan; a small amount of napkins or roll of paper towels-would have brought them myself but alll the other homes we stayed in provided them; a key to lock up house when we went out--we did not have any problems but was a little uncomfortable not being able to lock the house up while we were out.
There is and has been a micro wave and key is hanging in the coat rack if you wanted to use it
Awe-inspiring view, comfortable beds, clean
Was lucky enough to have an entirely sunny day to sit outdoors and enjoy looking through my binoculars. The kitchen has everything that's listed, plus a hotplate, electric skillet, hot water kettle, crockpot. The mini fridge was surprisingly roomy. The outdoor grill didn't have gas hooked up to it, not sure if we were supposed to provide our own tank? Was disappointed that he didn't let us use the firepit, even though the fire risk signs said low. Plenty of towels, blankets, seating, which was great. The "video library" consisted of 3 DVDs and a bunch of VHS tapes but no VCR. No TV and no internet, which didn't bother me but my 8-year-old got a little bored. Easy drive into town, after you get back down the bumpy long hill of a driveway. Would recommend, especially for more outdoorsy types than us.
Hiking trails from the house and great for biking
