About Barbara Edgemon

I was away from the mountains for a few years but I'm so glad to be back. I have a plaque on the wall that says 'the mountains are calling and I must go'. That explains it perfectly for me. The house is too large for me so I decided to make the walk-out basement a rental and the upstairs is also available for anyone who needs a full size kitchen and likes to do their own cooking. I want to share what I have been blessed with.

I am a snowbird and live in Florida during the winter months. The best of both worlds.

I am including pictures of the entire house and would rent the top half if it was desired.

Barbara Edgemon purchased this apartment in 2014

Why Barbara Edgemon chose Smoky Mountains

I built this property ten years ago for my youngest son and his wife and decided to buy it when it came up for sale. I love the area and the people. Things move slower and I just love getting back to nature.

The picture is of my granddaughter and I, she wanted to take a selfie.

What makes this apartment unique

The house is located on ten acres and is mostly wooded. Plenty of area to hike and enjoy the quite of the forest. Remote enough that you can't see another house.

We have an abundance of birds and humming birds.

Myself and my three sons 17, 17 and 11 stayed here for a week as a central location to fly fish. Barbara was very, very accommodating. Very clean, very functional, private, we'll kept weber grill for cooking out. The compact kitchen didn't prevent us from eating well...she also provided us a slow cooker. No doubt I will return here every time I want to stay in the area....thank you Barbara!

Perfect Location and Cabin!!!

  • 5 of 5

This cabin is very clean and well maintained. We visited The Great Smoky Mountains, Cherokee and the Pisgah Forrest on the search for waterfalls that we haven't seen in prior visits. We enjoyed the nice view of the mountains from the back porch and sitting out in the mornings watching the birds eat from the feeders. My husband really enjoyed the secluded cabin and my daughter loved playing pool. Will highly recommend to friends and family!

  • 5 of 5

Beautiful, clean, & comfortable! We loved watching the squirrels and birds, and beautiful mountain view. So enjoyed seeing the water falls & surrounding countryside. Granny's Buffet and the Friday night auction were a big treat. Highly recommend this place and looking forward to our next trip & staying longer.

Great owner! Central Location

  • 5 of 5

The owner was so generous and friendly! We had three kids (who are getting bigger everyday) so our family of 5 was about the limit for this stay. We stayed in the downstairs portion of the rental and it worked well for us. We brought muffins, cereal, and some snacks - but had no real intention of cooking. The kitchenette is fairly small, but perfect for our needs. The cabin is a bit isolated in that a decent drive into town is required to get supplies, but the property itself is gorgeous!! We took our youngest fishing at Bear Lake, which is about 8-10 minutes away. We did day trips to Highlands & Cashiers, Cherokee & Sylva, as well as the Pisgah Forest and Brevard.

Can't say enough good things about Barbara and her granddaughter... They took care of any need and gave us plenty of attention.

Wonderful Mountain Retreat!!

  • 5 of 5

We had SUCH an amazing stay! Thank you for having us and welcoming us in your home. The house is beautiful and settled in a wonderful area close to creeks, waterfalls, and other fun attractions. Our only wish was that we could have stayed for longer! I will definitely recommend the property to all of my friends and family looking to get away and look forward to coming again as soon as possible!
