About Kim D Wakefield

Sutherland Retreats, L.L.C. was established in 2011. Our goal, while living at the Lake ourselves, was to find that perfect place to be able to share with others who could gather with family and friends, and enjoy all that there is to offer on the Peninsula, as well as just relax and spend the entire time on Lake Sutherland, while there is so much to do right here without leaving your home. Great place to bring loved ones together as we have been on the Lake since 1998. Memories to last a life time for our family and friends!

Those whom have stayed here while going through many changes in their lives called Lake Sutherland 'healing waters' which is comforting in itself and a wonderful way to remember their time while taking in the peaceful and picturesque setting.

Kim D Wakefield purchased this house in 2014

Why Kim D Wakefield chose Olympic Peninsula & Pacific Coast

There is no other place on this lake, that we are aware of that has a home with all that there is to offer under one roof, like ours. The privacy on 2 acres with a fenced yard , private dock, a wonderful park like setting and room to roam is priceless. The outdoor games and the extra space to enjoy with your family and friends is a bonus.

This rental has the perfect setting for a small wedding, outdoor gatherings, corporate retreats, family and friends together under one roof with all the outdoor extras and privacy.

Having the detached Bunk House/Game Room, along with our Nautical Nest in the back of the property, across from the Bunk House, which has it's own kitchen and bathroom, is just what is needed to accommodate all the room for so many to enjoy, with all the privacy needed.

We owned the raw acreage next door and when this came available to purchase which would make the entire grounds 2 acres, we realized this was something that was not provided on the Lake, and wanted to create the perfect place for those to come and enjoy as many amenities as well as as many family and friends that they could get together on one property. We also live on the lake and have always tried to provide enough beds and fun for those we love and enjoy spending time with, so hopefully we have accomplished our goal in providing the same for you and your loved ones.

What makes this house unique

Full sunshine, while enjoying the private dock which runs between 100' of waterfront.

Beautiful yard, fenced and gated, perfect for kids to run around and be safe on their own grounds while waiting for dinner on the BBQ or getting ready to cook Smores on the front patio fire pit which faces the lake. This space truly represents the pacific northwest venue!

Our property is able to accommodate a larger crowd, so for an extra cost, we have a special events fee which allows you to entertain a larger crowd for the day, reunions, ceremonies, showers, birthdays, etc. We will provide the extra outside Sani-cans, since our septic is only able to service the initial quests who are staying, as well as the garbage service, we will transport all garbage cans, after the special event, all included in the special events package.

Family celebration at the lake

  • 5 of 5

We had a group of 14 people, all meeting to celebrate a milestone birthday and have a small family reunion. Having multiple kitchens, places to hang out, play games and swimming, kayaking, paddle boating & canoeing all available made this a great long weekend for all.

Wish we could of stayed longer!

  • 5 of 5

The property was great! It felt super private. We had a huge group and it accommodated everyone comfortably. We especially loved all the games and water crafts available. The kitchen had pretty much everything we needed and outside we could all sit together and share a meal. Kim was easy to reach by text message and very accommodating to all our needs.

The owners were excellent hosts and very very helpful for our every need.

  • 5 of 5

The property is very beautiful and very well taken care of. The view is amazing. We were a fairly large group of family members and all were very happy to with the amenities. We have been doing this for 4 years and this was our favorite place so far. The kids enjoyed the game room and the paddle boats. The teens liked the movies and games, and grandpa loved the fire pit and boats. Plenty to do for all ages. The kitchen has everything you need except the food to cook for a big group.

I taught my family to make beaded jewelry while we were there, we hope we swept up all the beads off the floor. :-)

Fantastic Lake Sutherland home

  • 5 of 5

This was the perfect location for a family vacation at Lake Sutherland and well situated to explore the Olympic Peninsula. A wonderfully well-appointed home surrounded by trees with everything we needed; they even had things we wouldn’t have thought to bring. Kim was very friendly and helpful. As you enter, there are plenty of brochures should you need ideas for where to sightsee. The décor is wonderfully coordinated and you can tell they took time to plan how each room as well as the entire home would flow. The kitchen had all the tools you could think of including crock pots, electric griddle, cappuccino maker, tea kettle, plenty of pots and pans, and most anything you could need to cook in and a good-sized island. The furniture is all very comfortable. The beds were fantastic – we slept very well. There are plenty of games for cloudy days, late evenings or if you want to have family game time. The yard is huge and was perfect for water balloon tossing, rolling down the hill, whiffle ball, football, or croquet. Being here during the week meant not as many people around during the day – at times it felt like we had the lake to ourselves. All the grandkids now want their own bunkhouse, too. Thank you for sharing your wonderful home, we hope to be back in the future!

Perfect place to celebrate parents 50th

  • 5 of 5

Words can't describe what an amazing place this is- there is something for everybody whether it is boating, fishing, playing any of the many games provided, exploring the nearby Olympic national park or just sitting on the dock and enjoying the crystal clear water and amazing views. The wakefields go out of their way to provide an exceptional experience and the facility is beautiful and well maintained. I really liked that there are separate buildings where a large group can spread out and not feel crowded together. I wish we could have stayed longer. Absolutely top notch
