Driftwood - Rustic Cottage on Highland Lake in Andover

Bedrooms 1
Space 550 sq. ft.
Property type cottage

About the property

Waterfront cottage on a beautiful lake with mountain views.

Driftwood is one of the original cottages on the west shore of Highland Lake in Andover, NH. It was built in the 1930's after the Cambridge Ice Company closed and the Ice House was torn down. Wood from the Ice House was floated down the shoreline to its current location and built into a summer cottage, and aptly named 'Driftwood'. Since then, it has been updated to have all the modern amenities including internet, all while retaining its rustic charm.

Driftwood is on a quiet dead end road and sits right on the water with gorgeous views of the lake and surrounding mountains. Highland lake is quiet and relaxing place to vacation and is perfect for swimming, boating, and fishing. The property has a dock and a beach and plenty of outdoor seating to enjoy the view.

Come and relax on this quiet lake and get away from it all.

Great Little Cabin

  • 5 of 5

I came here with my fiance and parents. It was very cozy. The porch was wonderful to relax on. We were able to go swimming and fish off the dock. We also brought a canoe so we got to enjoy the whole lake. They allowed us to bring Max, our German Shepherd. Little rough keeping the sand out. Definitely bring some water shoes. Not a bad idea to bring a couple extra blankets and towels. Also, they did provide water but we went thru it quickly so it's definitely worth bringing extra jugs. Overall, great place. We all agree we'd stay again. Thank you for a relaxing and enjoyable experience!

Perfect vacation getaway. Centrally located.

  • 5 of 5

This a perfectly wonderful relaxing cabin located right on water's edge. Everything is there including large cable TV and internet although this is a beautiful 1930s cabin. I would highly recommend spending your vacation here. Very accessible to the highway. Just perfect!

Absolutely breathtaking!

  • 5 of 5

My husband and I wanted to stay some place centrally located to visit the New England states for our 20th anniversary. From the time we pulled in the driveway and saw the breathtaking views of the lake and mountains, we new this was the perfect choice. Inside was very cute with a very cozy rustic charm, just as the pictures portray. Even though it rained the first day we were there, it gave us a chance to enjoy the cottage sitting out on the screened-in porch to read a book. The fireplace was a nice touch to sit around in the fall air. We grilled some nights and cooked inside others with all the utensil, pots, pans, dishes needed. It had everything and left nothing to want, except to return next year. Everyone in New Hampshire from the welcoming neighbors, to the entire town, were very friendly. Our dream now is of retiring here one day. We absolutely loved it and will be back!

Perfect relaxing get away !!!

  • 4 of 5

My husband and I stayed at the cottage for a week in August 2016. We could not have been happier with our choice. The rustic cottage was just as pictured online and were very pleased to see how cute it was upon arrival. The cottage was clean and had the amenities needed .... and more ! You cannot get any closer to the water. The dock was perfect to sit on and read a book or fish from. The water is shallow near the dock and clean. As soon as you go deeper, the bottom gets a bit mucky, so I recommend floats ! The cottage has everything you need. We used the gas grill outside almost every night to cook. The sand surrounding the cottage gets a bit aggravating, but the owners provide a broom. I tried my best to keep the sand from going inside but it was inevitable. The screened in porch was so nice. The owners have a nice teak table to sit and eat dinner, away from the bugs. Also on the porch, we enjoyed the wicker furniture to sit and read a nice book while listening to the loons. The kitchen is well stocked, the bed was freshly made and clean towels were provided. I highly recommend the cottage

Highland Lake cottage, NH

  • 5 of 5

My husband & I were looking for a peaceful get away following his retirement party this June. We wanted to celebrate our anniversary in a lovely setting and unwind. Driftwood didn't disappoint. Darling lakefront cottage. Picturesque views and the peaceful call of the loons quickly saw to it that we were relaxed in short order. The owners have seen to EVERY detail. We had all the kitchen essentials to cook our meals. The bed, pillows, linens were the best we have experienced in other stays we have booked. We spent our days reading, playing cards and relaxing on the dock and in the screened in porch. We fished. One day was rather rainy and so we watched a movie in the very cozy cottage. The pictures posted of the property depict accurately the property. During our stay I sensed the great pride the owners take in their lovely home. It was our good fortune to find this property. Can't wait to visit again.
