I do not believe you could find a more responsive manager at Portofino, as I do care very much about all of my units, and I do care about my guests stay at Portofino.Actually, I can not even count the number of return guests I serve year after year as a high percentage of my guests are very happy with my units and do wish to return. There have been 18 guests other than this person who have rented this unit since April, and not one ,till this person, has given me any negative input on the cleanliness of this unit.
I personally met this guest inside the condo at check in and during her entire 7 night stay she never texted, called or emailed be with any concerns about the unit cleanliness or maintenance issues she described. A day after her departure I got an email outlining her disappointment with the condo and also she referenced the amount she spent on the vacation numerous times. My response back was if you at arrival or any time during the 7 night stay had any issue with the unit , why did you not tell me, so I could solve the problem ? I actually do walk through units after my clean staff leave, and before guests arrive , despite the time crunch we encounter in many back to back summer reservations. I personally went back to the unit yesterday to look at the issues she addressed after leaving. A simple turn of the spay hose stopped the minor leaking coming from the spray hose and there was no water inside the cabinet at all just a little in a bucket under the sink cabinet that has been there since April which is just a safety valve if there ever is water. My husband personally checked out each TV and remote and all are in working order, possibly there was a network glitch during the time she had an issue but we found no problem. In westerly facing units even when you run a mop under a bed there is still dust that is noticeable when the sun shines in, however the rest of the entire unit was spotless in the living areas.
I did apologize to this guest that her expectations, somewhat high as she describes, were not met. All guests do need to rest assured that despite back to back quick arrivals in summer we do strive to provide the cleanest environment possible for your visit .It is reasonable to expect that a guest would report any issue to a manager, so that manager could resolve any problem , which prevents any negative outcome. This simply did not happen with this guest any time during their entire stay.
Condo was as described, in a great location and has an incredible view from the 19th floor. Very spacious and perfect size for our family of 4. Could be a 5 star with limited investment... Get new towels, fix iron, upgrade pots and pans and utensils, etc.. Basically small things... Unlike previous reviewer I felt it was clean. Process to get keys and check in and out was a breeze. Compared to the price of booking through Portofino directly this seems like a no brainer to me if you are planning to go to Portofino either way.
Having previously stayed at the Portofino Resort, my expectations were pretty high. This particular unit was not as well maintained as I expected, especially considering the cost of the stay. There was dirt and excessive dust in the closets, under the beds, in the corners of the rooms, etc. There was hair in the master bathroom shower, dirt in the bathtub, and men's underwear left in the drawer. The TV in the living room caused a bit of frustration when it would flicker or black out in the middle of a program. The spray hose in the kitchen sink leaked and, since there was a bucket to catch most of the water, they obviously knew about the problem. The bucket is not an adequate fix, and it leaked out of the cabinets. We met the unit manager in the unit on the day of arrival, so I was surprised to discover the basic cleaning issues that were not corrected before we arrived; a quick inspection on her part could have provided a completely different experience for us. The view from the condo was wonderful, and the resort itself is remarkable. Beautiful beaches, pools, and activities for the kids provided an overall wonderful vacation. We will return to the Portofino Resort again next year, but most definitely not to this particular unit. The issues were not major, but could have been avoided with a little more effort. Nobody wants to spend the first few hours of their vacation cleaning; after all, isn't that why we pay a cleaning fee?
