The farm, certified organic, is 180 years old and has been in the family that long. Our guests have returned over the years and I have added some reviews here as they speak of the farm better than I do.
I can say, we love our farm and guests and our area is one of the finest vacation locations in the world. Acadia is an hour and the Blue Hill Peninsula is busy all season with events, art openings, live theater, music and fantastic food. We also are directly on the water and our farm has access to 2 beaches.
Enjoy the sunsets, blueberries and have some lobsters delivered here!
Please read the reviews to get an objective view of the farm and look at our other two listings on this site.
Come to Maine this year and renew your sense of what life can be!
My girlfriend and I stayed at Carol's house during May 2017 for a weekend Maine vacation. We had a fantastic time! The site - located on a historic farm - is secluded, quiet, and just steps away from their private dock/beach. The beach is a real treat; we saw a beautiful sunset during our first night there. The living quarters itself is VERY comfortable and has a nice rustic feel. It is two floors - separate from the rest of the house - including a private kitchen, bathroom, shower, and bedroom. The kitchen was stocked with all the cooking tools my girlfriend and I needed to prepare our nightly dinners. The bed in the bedroom is incredibly comfortable, and there is also a a mini skylight window in the room perfect for viewing the stars above. The site is only minutes away from nearby grocery stores, local attractions like Nervous Nellies Jams and Jellies (that not only specializes in producing on-site jams and jellies made with berries from Maine, but also is a walkable, folk art mini-town), and only an hour away from Bar Harbor and Acadia National Park. Finally, Dick and Carol were fantastic hosts. They were very friendly, easily contacted, and responded to any questions we had. I definitely recommend staying at their place! I'll definitely stay here again if I return to Maine!
Natasha, 2016 review
Carol's studio is absolutely wonderful; it exceeded our expectations and made our stay in Brooksville comfortable and magical. The pictures can't do this spot justice, because every direction you look is gorgeous, every road you drive down a seaside country dream. Walk to near private beaches in one minute, walk Carol's fields -- our dog was in heaven. Beautiful hikes and can't miss sights anywhere from 10 to 30 minutes away; Blue Hill 15 minutes away has all the grocery, etc. essentials. As for the space itself--the quintessential country comfort, gorgeous old style wood, barn doors, fairly well-stocked kitchen supplies, your own little grass patio with BBQ. The bed was very, very comfortable and the whole space very clean and cozy. Stay here! We stayed four nights and it was not enough.

We had a fantastic week at Carol and Dick's farm.. We have a 17 month old son, and the studio that is attached to the farmhouse was perfect for us. Carol and Dick are lovely people and available if needed but otherwise very hands-off, which was great. Our son loved the animals, walking to the beaches, and visiting the family staying in the other apartment on the property. The apartment is well appointed with necessities and a lobster pot in the yard. There are plenty of things to do in the surrounding area, and plenty of farmer's markets and a good grocery store about 20 min away. Tinder Hearth bakery and pizzeria is paradise especially if you have young children, and if you want great coffee and don't mind a slightly longer drive, 44 North is fantastic. El El Frijoles is on the way to the coffee shop and is an amazing place to eat as well. Carol and Dick have my highest recommendation.. we can't wait to go back. and cute , the studio has a queen bed and living area, full bath and kitchen, dining. Part of the historic wasson farm house, circa 1850, it has been loved by guests.
We spent five nights on Carol and Dick's farm, and it was one of the most relaxing vacations we've ever had. Their farm is in an idyllic setting down a quiet road and along the river. There were dogs, chickens, and horses – and ripe blueberries for the picking! The apartment was just perfect. It was just like the listing described, and it had everything we needed. Carol and Dick couldn't have been more warm and welcoming, and they helped us find all the wonderful local treasures of Brooksville, Maine. We would love to return there next year!
Life as life should kitchen, dining, bed and bath in private studio on a waterfront, salt water farm. A 2013 guest, "the entire setting is pristine, peaceful and ready to offer the best of well-appointed accommodations to sea-loving travelers!
"carol has created a studio space where guests have everything they need. It is cozy and rustic downstairs and bright and cheery upstairs. We highly recommend aunt mary's!"
Private, two story studio with queen bed, charming kitchen, dining and comfy living/studio with 1 full bath located on the most beautiful land in brooks ville, waterfront access, open organic farmland and quiet, star filled nights.
The best value in town! Book for the season and save!
Attached to the historic captain wasson home in west brooksville, the studio is a little oasis. Available for long term also!
A 2013 guest describes, "beautiful, tastefully and artistically furnished cottage in the middle of a splendid landscape. The hosts were very accommodating; we would love to go back in future"
Come to our studio to enjoy the wonderful open space of our farm. Located near so many local attractions, including, deer isle, blue hill, stonington, castine and penobscot. Add an extra bedroom for two more guests if you need. A great spot for young families!
We made this studio in our main farm house so small groups can enjoy the farm. It can also be added to the cabin and captain robert's house for large groups.
The field across the street is for your campfires and smores and enjoyment of the fantastic western sunsets.
Brooksville hosts the best organic farming and farmer's market on Tuesdays. Local farms bring organic foods, baked items, cheeses, pottery, jewelry and more. Fresh bread is baked 1/2 mile away, twice a week and pizza and chocolate croissants are also available. Local lobster men make finding fresh Maine lobsters easy and you can even get them cooked for you.
Our beach and boat house look down the river to castine, islesboro and camden and the waterfront is beautiful.
Flying into bangor is 1 hour away and Portland (website hidden) harbor is just over an hour and acadia is a great trip to walk or ride your bike around the trails there. Our peninsula has loads of open space and is surrounded by water and sailors love these waters. Theater, antiques, music, and local craft are nearby.
