About the property

Studio Apartment with private beach, queen bed and full kitchen/dining

The farm, certified organic, is 180 years old and has been in the family that long. Our guests have returned over the years and I have added some reviews here as they speak of the farm better than I do.

I can say, we love our farm and guests and our area is one of the finest vacation locations in the world. Acadia is an hour and the Blue Hill Peninsula is busy all season with events, art openings, live theater, music and fantastic food. We also are directly on the water and our farm has access to 2 beaches.

Enjoy the sunsets, blueberries and have some lobsters delivered here!

Please read the reviews to get an objective view of the farm and look at our other two listings on this site.

Come to Maine this year and renew your sense of what life can be!

May 2017

My girlfriend and I stayed at Carol's house during May 2017 for a weekend Maine vacation. We had a fantastic time! The site - located on a historic farm - is secluded, quiet, and just steps away from their private dock/beach. The beach is a real treat; we saw a beautiful sunset during our first night there. The living quarters itself is VERY comfortable and has a nice rustic feel. It is two floors - separate from the rest of the house - including a private kitchen, bathroom, shower, and bedroom. The kitchen was stocked with all the cooking tools my girlfriend and I needed to prepare our nightly dinners. The bed in the bedroom is incredibly comfortable, and there is also a a mini skylight window in the room perfect for viewing the stars above. The site is only minutes away from nearby grocery stores, local attractions like Nervous Nellies Jams and Jellies (that not only specializes in producing on-site jams and jellies made with berries from Maine, but also is a walkable, folk art mini-town), and only an hour away from Bar Harbor and Acadia National Park. Finally, Dick and Carol were fantastic hosts. They were very friendly, easily contacted, and responded to any questions we had. I definitely recommend staying at their place! I'll definitely stay here again if I return to Maine!

Natasha, 2016 review

Carol's studio is absolutely wonderful; it exceeded our expectations and made our stay in Brooksville comfortable and magical. The pictures can't do this spot justice, because every direction you look is gorgeous, every road you drive down a seaside country dream. Walk to near private beaches in one minute, walk Carol's fields -- our dog was in heaven. Beautiful hikes and can't miss sights anywhere from 10 to 30 minutes away; Blue Hill 15 minutes away has all the grocery, etc. essentials. As for the space itself--the quintessential country comfort, gorgeous old style wood, barn doors, fairly well-stocked kitchen supplies, your own little grass patio with BBQ. The bed was very, very comfortable and the whole space very clean and cozy. Stay here! We stayed four nights and it was not enough.

We had a fantastic week at Carol and Dick's farm.. We have a 17 month old son, and the studio that is attached to the farmhouse was perfect for us. Carol and Dick are lovely people and available if needed but otherwise very hands-off, which was great. Our son loved the animals, walking to the beaches, and visiting the family staying in the other apartment on the property. The apartment is well appointed with necessities and a lobster pot in the yard. There are plenty of things to do in the surrounding area, and plenty of farmer's markets and a good grocery store about 20 min away. Tinder Hearth bakery and pizzeria is paradise especially if you have young children, and if you want great coffee and don't mind a slightly longer drive, 44 North is fantastic. El El Frijoles is on the way to the coffee shop and is an amazing place to eat as well. Carol and Dick have my highest recommendation.. we can't wait to go back. and cute , the studio has a queen bed and living area, full bath and kitchen, dining. Part of the historic wasson farm house, circa 1850, it has been loved by guests.

And Suzanne

We spent five nights on Carol and Dick's farm, and it was one of the most relaxing vacations we've ever had. Their farm is in an idyllic setting down a quiet road and along the river. There were dogs, chickens, and horses – and ripe blueberries for the picking! The apartment was just perfect. It was just like the listing described, and it had everything we needed. Carol and Dick couldn't have been more warm and welcoming, and they helped us find all the wonderful local treasures of Brooksville, Maine. We would love to return there next year!

Life as life should kitchen, dining, bed and bath in private studio on a waterfront, salt water farm. A 2013 guest, "the entire setting is pristine, peaceful and ready to offer the best of well-appointed accommodations to sea-loving travelers!

"carol has created a studio space where guests have everything they need. It is cozy and rustic downstairs and bright and cheery upstairs. We highly recommend aunt mary's!"

Private, two story studio with queen bed, charming kitchen, dining and comfy living/studio with 1 full bath located on the most beautiful land in brooks ville, waterfront access, open organic farmland and quiet, star filled nights.

The best value in town! Book for the season and save!

Attached to the historic captain wasson home in west brooksville, the studio is a little oasis. Available for long term also!

A 2013 guest describes, "beautiful, tastefully and artistically furnished cottage in the middle of a splendid landscape. The hosts were very accommodating; we would love to go back in future"

Come to our studio to enjoy the wonderful open space of our farm. Located near so many local attractions, including, deer isle, blue hill, stonington, castine and penobscot. Add an extra bedroom for two more guests if you need. A great spot for young families!

We made this studio in our main farm house so small groups can enjoy the farm. It can also be added to the cabin and captain robert's house for large groups.

The field across the street is for your campfires and smores and enjoyment of the fantastic western sunsets.

Brooksville hosts the best organic farming and farmer's market on Tuesdays. Local farms bring organic foods, baked items, cheeses, pottery, jewelry and more. Fresh bread is baked 1/2 mile away, twice a week and pizza and chocolate croissants are also available. Local lobster men make finding fresh Maine lobsters easy and you can even get them cooked for you.

Our beach and boat house look down the river to castine, islesboro and camden and the waterfront is beautiful.

Flying into bangor is 1 hour away and Portland (website hidden) harbor is just over an hour and acadia is a great trip to walk or ride your bike around the trails there. Our peninsula has loads of open space and is surrounded by water and sailors love these waters. Theater, antiques, music, and local craft are nearby.

About Carol Gregor

Farming on the coast of Maine began in the family hundreds of years ago in Brooksville. Sailing the high seas was also done from our Wharf as the 6 Tapley sea Captains sailed around the world.

This land has been in the same family for over 180 years and today we are enhancing and nourishing the land to harvest the medicinal herbs native to Maine.

Our past lives were spent raising a large family and running a design build construction company. We also have a history in volunteering for the homeless

and have spent time in creative pursuits. We travel, have ponies, chickens and dogs to keep us company and enjoy having guests at our farm.

Carol Gregor purchased this apartment in 1850

Why Carol Gregor chose Brooksville

An outstanding opportunity to be on a real Salt Water Farm, exactly as it was 180 years ago when it was built. Surrounded by 37 acres of certified Organic land and waterfront, the quality of life is as good as life can have. Blueberries, mussels and clams are available to pick and dig. Our farm has some of the most beautiful land in the area. Open space on the water with 2 beaches for your use.

We enjoy sharing this place with our quests as it is truly a unique place to get back to nature and feel what was once a more common feeling, the ebb and flow of life only made possible by immersion into nature.

What makes this apartment unique

Waterfront, vast sunsets and views, an Original Salt Water Farm in the process of being restored.

Wonderful community, the arts and music abound and our food quality is as fine as anywhere in the world.

Our farm is located in a wonderful area. Water surrounds us and all comforts are provided. As Jim said about the Studio Jim Perfect. No other way to describe it. The room had everything we needed and the location simply could not have been better. The property is stunning and every Down East activity you could imagine is a short drive away. Icing on the cake? Blueberry patch!

Relaxed and beautiful

  • 5 of 5

We stayed for 4 night in the studio. The downstairs kitchen is rustic and quite nice to cook in. From easy meals to more elaborate meals it was a pleasure to cook in! The upstairs sitting area and bedroom where bright and cheery! The whole place was clean! We enjoyed listening to the ducks in the early evening and quiet peacefulness of the night. We were very relaxed there. The Gregors we friendly and helpful but also gave us space and privacy. The scenery and the farm with water views were spectacular. The nearby towns were cute and rustic with farm fresh products. Lots of hiking/walking trails right down the road! Wish we could have stayed for a month!

The absolutely perfect, most idyllic escape from hectic city life!

  • 5 of 5

My husband and I stayed here for almost a week and while I had spent time in Maine before, my husband had only been once before. And he had never seen a sunset quite like the one you'll see here. Breathtaking beyond belief. Within hours, our stress just melted away. There's nothing quite like the abundance of fresh air and a multitude of stars, cool nights and warm days to bring you back to a better, simpler time. We spent our days taking long walks, enjoying the ocean, and taking some drives to nearby Blue Hill and Acadia National Park.

Our hosts were wonderful, fun, gracious and warm people. We enjoyed spending time with them, their pets and friends while we were here. We also had plenty of privacy, too. The space is immaculately clean but also wonderfully rustic and cozy. We would love to stay here again!

We had a great stay (10 days) in the studio. It is a perfect place for relaxing and reading. Though hiking etc. is possible at the nearby Holbrooke Sanctuary or at Acadia National Park. The studio is equipped with everything you need. The Gregors provide vegetables like tomatoes and fresh eggs.
