Average but a little more costly than others I have stayed in at North Coast Village.
I definitely prefer checking in with the office. I don't have to worry about notifying anyone that I am almost there so they will be there to meet me. Just arrive and go directly to the office. I did like the upstairs vs a downstairs unit it just seemed to stay cleaner, no sand got tracked in.
The cleanliness was average, definitely could have used a little more but it was okay.
What I did not like was the TV's. They were the old CRT not the flat screens that everyone has now. You can't get nearly as big of a TV with the old tube TV so the living room TV was in my opinion rather small. The bedroom TV was not much bigger than a large laptop.
The other thing I was disappointed in was the beach supplies. There were only two chairs and two little kid sized boogie boards. We actually went to Costco and bought a boogie board for my son.
I had asked some questions before hand through email but never did get a reply. However, when we got home I asked a question about when the deposit would be refunded and Jeff replied quickly.
Overall the place is not a bad place. I would try to find something else first but if I couldn't I would stay here again.
Ok... but could use some help
Booked for 4 nights in Dec 2017, but ended up staying just for 1 night. Unit is a little dated, but serviceable.
Here are some issues that could use working out:
1) Communication - booked well in advance, I'm not sure why we only get check-in details 2 days prior. As requested, I text when in route from airport, only to be told that keys will be at front desk. Unfortunately, my navi was off and couldn't find the front desk. Texts then go unanswered leaving me to wander around asking for directions.
2) Cleanliness - we were with our two young boys, and they promptly discovered trash under their beds. Used red party cups and wrappers were simply swept under their beds? Not good.
3) Wifi - didn't work. Frustrating.
4) Toiletries - I might be wrong, but I assume there would be shower soap, shampoo, etc. Nope. None.
5) Communication II - not entirely happy with the accomodations, we decided to book an alternative the next day. No refund requested, but texted to inform. Zero response. No questions as to why. Nothing.
Beautiful surroundings, lovely super clean condo with everything you need for a beach vacation
The owner treated us like personal friends. We had grandkids with us and North Coast Village is perfect for kids.
A clean, comfortable condo a short stroll to the ocean!
We enjoyed our stay at North Cost Village this August. This is our second time to rent from this gated community. The condo was clean, nicely decorated, and was "stocked" with practically anything a vacationer might need for an extended stay. It was a little humid, but the owner did provide us with three large fans to keep us cooler at night. We enjoyed the pool and hot tub, and the winding paths through the village that led to the beach. We enjoyed our many walks to Oceanside beach to swim. North Coast Village was a family friendly, safe location. The only thing that we had to get used to in this condo was the sound of the train that seemed to run by a few times until after 10pm each night, and then early each morning. If we do return, I'm thinking we will choose a condo that does not face the road and train tracks. Overall, a very pleasant stay.
San Diego is a nice beach town
Owner Jeff is very friendly
A few things would have made it even better
We enjoyed our stay and found the accommodations adequate. Criticisms would be the following: refrigerator leaked badly allowing water into the various drawers of the refr; not enough t-paper on hand; oven door broken. Also would have liked to have known sooner than the day before how we were to get into the condo (where the key would be or who would meet us). Glad to have the fans in each room (helped to drown out the noise from the trains). Beds very comfortable.
The Oceanside Farmers' Market every Thursday day/evening is within walking distance and is a great place to purchase local fruits, vegetables, flowers and other local fare. The Harbor offers fishing, boat rental, sailing and paddle board lessons as well as great shops, bars, and restaurants without having to get in the car.
