About the property

2 bed, 2 bath with 360 degree mountain views

Newly constructed and purpose built, this rental ticks all the boxes. Open concept living/dining/kitchen with views of iconic Black Lava Butte, now part of the Sand to Snow National Monument. In fact, because we share a property line with the Monument, just step out of the gate and you are right there and you can hike thousands of acres of unspoiled desert.

Both bedrooms open onto an upper patio with views of Mount San Jacinto and the Sawtooth Mountains. Full size sofa bed in living room sleeps an additional two people. Fun bunkhouse with full size futon couch for warm nights. Large lower patio for barbeques, parties and other events. Luxurious outdoor shower and hot tub with mountain views. There's a fire pit for sitting and stargazing. Watch the wildlife that visits the pond. Maybe you'll even meet our local coyote!

Cutest home, real desert feel

  • 5 of 5

Amazing home in the desert is the perfect getaway. Well designed and very clean...details included toiletries and a bottle of wine. Hot tub was fantastic and home is heated well by propane fireplace. 2 bedrooms are on either side of the home making for a private retreat for two couples or a family. Cannot wait to return.

Owner's Response: We loved hosting you! Elsie gave me the most beautiful smile when I delivered the additional drinking water. Your mom left a book in her room. Do you want me to mail it?

Beautiful Oasis in Pioneertown

  • 5 of 5

If your looking for a house with a hot tub, hiking trail right out your front door, close to Pappy and Harriet's, great views, beautiful outdoor space and dogs allowed, look no further. This house is spectacular and we even had a visit from a Bobcat. We will be back and thank you Michelle for everything.

Perfect, down to every detail

  • 5 of 5

Wow. What an amazing place. We spent three days over Christmas and it was perfect. Amazing setting with views over desert and park right out the door. We are a family of five, and the house was the perfect size, especially with the addition of the bunkhouse and fold out couch. With three teenagers, it was awesome to be completely unplugged (no cell or internet). We grilled our Christmas dinner as the sun set and the stars rose above us. Played cards by the fire. Enjoyed steamy morning hot tubs. Hiked Sand to Snow and saw petroglyphs. Spent a day at Joshua Tree (and loved the cactus garden!) Michelle and Sean met us at Pappy and Harriets, escorted us to the house and made sure we had everything we needed. Super gracious hosts who really have though out everything to make the stay perfect! Thanks.

Such an easy and comfortable experiance!!

  • 5 of 5

Black Lava Lodge had everything we needed for the weekend. The space was very clean, safe and felt like home. Michelle stocked the refrigerator with bottled water, had fresh fruit there for our arrival and made the basic workings of the home easy to understand. The location was ideal, only about a 10 minute drive to the restaurant Pappy and Harriet's and close enough to Yucca Valley if you forget anything major. We especially loved watching the wildlife from the living room, we had a bunny visit us each day. Next time we are in Joshua Tree we will definitely rent Black Lava Lodge again!

Perfect 10

  • 5 of 5

We could not have been happier with the weekend. The beautiful house, the absolutely breathtaking property, and the incredible hospitality we were shown by Michelle and Sean. I'd recommend this house in a heartbeat and hope to be back again. The weekend at Black Lava was perfection.

Stunning Gem in the Desert!!!

  • 5 of 5

WOW…what an absolutely stunning property!! Michelle was so great to deal with from beginning to end. She personally led us to the house, gave us a quick tour and instructions on how to use the grill, fire pit and hot tub. Leaving us with a bottle of wine and a bowl of fruit was such a nice touch. The house was beautifully decorated and the beds were comfy. The kitchen was well stocked and made for an enjoyable cooking experience.

The views from the Black Lava Lodge are amazing in every direction, including snowcapped Mt. San Jacinto.

Soaking in the hot tub and viewing the starry sky was fabulous…nothing like a desert sky. Sitting on the front porch looking at Black Lava Butte makes you feel like you’re in Joshua Tree National Park. Our daughter lives locally in Pioneertown and we will definitely rent this property again!!
