About Rick Pattyn
We come from the Nelson area in the beautiful West Kootenays , British Columbia, Canada. We have been married 43 years and raised 3 fantastic daughters who have given us 6 wonderful grand children. Rick is a semi-retired Professional Log Home Builder and owns and operates 3 Vacation Rental Properties; I am a Patient Care Coordinator and working Registered Nurse in the Emergency Department at the Kootenay Lake Hospital, and I own and operate my own network marketing business. Once our children left home we started to travel to sunny locations in order to shorten our Kootenay winters.
Rick Pattyn purchased this House in 2014
Why Rick Pattyn chose Isla Mujeres
We found Isla Mujeres quite by accident when we went on a Booze Cruise out of Cancun in 2000. It was supposed to be a day excursion but Rick and I wanted to see the island so we got permission to stay behind when the boat left the dock to go back to the mainland. We loved the coral island from the minute we stepped onto it. The people we found were so incredibly friendly, the markets vibrant, the water so clear and warm and the beaches white and powdery soft. I think we both new we would return to the island that made us feel welcome and relaxed. We visited the Caribbean side of Mexico several times after that and always made time to get back to Isla Mujeres. The visits were always organized so that we used Isla as an offshoot to a busy vacation until finally we started taking trips with our destination being 'The Island'. Because we had visited the island so often we got a feel for various areas. At first we stayed in the public central area but with each return we stayed further away and found we enjoyed the lifestyle of being a little further away from the tourist area and more into the neighbourhoods. We found a realtor, Jim Botaish, who we contacted each visit for a couple of years. He showed us houses when we were down and then we came across the gem that we now call Casa Mojitoville. The house with its open concept, 2 bedrooms and 3 bathrooms fit our needs but we wanted a little more. We had a rooftop reno done so that our total living space would be increased and we could appreciate the wonderful views of the Salina Grande and the sky line of the eastern side of the island. With the infinity pool, lounge area, granite bar area under the palapa as well as an airy shower and toilet washroom we found that we didn't even have to leave the privacy of home and especially the rooftop in order to relax in the sun and yet stay cool.
What makes this House unique
As planned we have had some of our family join us for a fun filled vacation. We have enjoyed showing them the highlights of the island and spent luxurious days at the beach. We all enjoy walking and that is one of the great things about Casa Mojitoville. It is just a short walk along a cobblestone walkway to get to children's parks, shopping, beaches, restaurants, and entertainment. For us, Isla Mujeres and Casa Mojitoville has offered a place where we can balance the work that we love with total relaxation, be warm, enjoy all the outdoor activities we could want; and most of all call a second home.
