This beautiful sprawling immaculate one level home is a perfect destination for your summer vacation. This is a Monday to Monday rental offering the benefit of a full weekend during your stay.
The home was newly renovated in 2014 and features an open floor plan, fun, family-friendly decor and comfortably accommodates up to 8 people. Stunning water views and easy access to Quonnie Pond and Weekapaug beach where you can enjoy swimming, kayaking, boating and fishing. The Shelter Harbor Association offers private tennis courts for your use as well as the famous Shelter Harbor Inn and restaurant.
The home includes 3 large bedrooms and 2.5 baths. The master has water views, a queen bed and en suite bath; there is a 'bunk room' that accommodates 4 children and a third bedroom that includes a queen bed and twin day-bed. Everyone's favorite room, however, is our beautiful screened in porch that features views of both the Pond and open ocean and, best of all... the sound of waves! There are also two interior gathering areas-- a serene, TV-free living room and open-concept kitchen/family room with large fireplace and even more water views.
The house's exterior matches its interior in terms of views, space and places to relax. Set on .75 acres, there is plenty of room for lawn games, chilling on the hammock or a game of catch.
If you are crazy enough to want to leave Shelter Harbor during your stay, you are close to a wide array of places to go and things to do-- world class restaurants; a nationally acclaimed spa at the Ocean House Resort; ferry trips to nearby Block Island; and quick 30-45 minute drives to Newport, Mystic Seaport, Mohegan Sun and Foxwoods casinos AND, if you are lucky... a Taylor Swift sighting in beautiful Watch Hill!
After years and years of vacationing at the Cape, friends invited us to their home in Narragansett, RI and we were so impressed we decided to explore the area for our following summer's vacation. We rented Walhalla in Shelter Harbor and pretty much never looked back. After 1 week, we were all in, buying a relative fixer-upper in the community to share with friends and help convert others to this wonderful but unassuming beach destination.
Claire Sheth purchased this house in 2013
We have been vacationing in Shelter Harbor for over 20 years. This house was perfect for our growing family. Our grandchildren loved walking down to the dock and watching the boaters, taking turns in the hammock and simply enjoying the outdoor space. The private beach is only a short drive and is one of the reasons we continue to vacation here. Watch Hill, Newport and Mystic Seaport are all just a short distance away and provide dining, shopping and fun for everyone. The house is well equipped and comfortable with plenty of room for everyone. We are already planning our vacation here for next summer!
This is a very relaxed and informal shore retreat with a space for everyone in the group. We enjoyed the breezy screened-in porch and the glimpses of the pond that could be seen from that porch. The walk down to the dock is easy and the benches provide a great view of the waterway. The house is well-stocked with plenty of towels and beach equipment, a full array of kitchen equipment and many games. We enjoyed the private uncrowded beach about a 10 minute drive away.
There is a good choice of food shops and restaurants nearby. Trips to Watch Hill, Mystic Seaport and Newport were fun.
We are 6 girls who go away every year for a girls weekend. This home is in a beautiful area and the home was very roomy and had everything we needed. With 3 bedrooms and 2 1/2 baths we all had ample time in the morning to get ready. We visited nearby Newport and toured one of the mansions. We also took the ferry to Block Island and had a lovely day there. The home was so roomy and had several areas where we could relax and enjoy a
glass of wine. We would definitely recommend this home to anyone traveling to this area.
We had a fabulous time at this house last summer. Recently redone, it was well stocked and had all of the amenities we needed for all ages to have a great time. We had many fun games of catch and soccer on the large lawn, walked to the tennis courts, pond and beach. As others mentioned, its a very quiet neighborhood so we felt fine with kids out on the lawn as we were cooking, etc. Several roomy, comfortable places to gather, so in the evenings, the kids could watch a movie in the family room or play games on the huge screen in porch while the adults sat outside, in the comfy living room or kitchen, etc. For a 3 bedroom house, there is LOTS of room to spread out, so the house feels much larger. Westerly is a cute town. My kids enjoyed the carousel, the shops and ice cream close by. One night a local restaurant/tavern had a trivia game that was family appropriate and our group of kids (ages 7-12) had a BLAST! We took close day trips to Mystic and Newport - there is so much to do in the area. We will definitely be back!!!
We loved the house, the location, the activities, the big sofas, the bunk beds .... the list goes on and on. We had 6 children who were able to be active by day (swimming, canoeing, crabbing, paddle-boarding, or out playing lawn games) and restful by night (games on screened-in porch, film in family room, reading in sitting room). The bunk room (2 sets of bunk beds) was a major hit with the children, as was the hammock and the hot outside shower. From the parents' perspective, the amply sized kitchen table coupled with dining options in the porch made eating easy, as did the well-stocked cupboards with crockery/cutlery etc. Best of all - very safe neighborhood where even the youngest children could run from house down to dock. We loved it!
I brought my elderly parents from the UK for a tour of New England and stayed at the house for a week in June 2014. The house was perfect for us, the outside photo's dont do it justice the inside is nicely decorated with many new couches, beds, curtains and recently fitted IKEA wardrobes in the bunk bed bedroom. The house was about a 100 yards from the lake and we spent many hours at the dock sitting on the bench watching our children fishing and catching crabs. We walked to another dock a few hundred yards away where they have a roped off area for swimming. The house has a lovely hot outdoor shower that was perfect when coming back from the lake or beach. The house is located in a quiet neighborhood and the children felt very safe outside. We spent hours on the lawn with the children playing soccer and Frisbee. The town of westerly was about a 10 minute drive with some good restaurants and pubs. We would definitely visit again.
