Pacific City is a quaint beach town with the dory fleet heading out for fishing each day. Also there is a great surf break at Cape Kiwanda. Walk to the bakery, deli and restaurants from the house and enjoy relaxing at the beach.
We live in Portland, Surfsidelanding is just a short drive for us and the beach is magic for us. We love to travel and have been many places around the world, but the Oregon Coast always makes the top of the list when we come home. Recently tried Paddle Board Yoga on the river and that was something else, the local shop teaches classes so give it a try.
We relocated from Seattle about 10 years ago to the Portland area and can give you tips about things to explore and adventures to try.
Teresa St Martin purchased this house in 2005
Everything you want at the beach in a relaxed and casual atmosphere. Pacific City has a great surf break and you can see surfers year round. This is not another Cannon Beach, it's an authentic beach town, with Dory Boats leaving to fish every morning and fresh Dory caught fish available in the deli and the local restaurants. Miles of wide sandy beach and local festivals abound, like 'Dory Days' in July or the Longboard Surf Competition in August or the Birding & Blues festival, try one it's Americana at it's finest.
A comfortable home with all the conveniences to make your time at the beach a fun and relaxing stay. Park your car or plane for the weekend and walk to all the attractions. Fly in with your small plane to the only beach side State air strip on the Oregon Coast. Airplane parking behind the house
Six of us women stayed for a Retreat. The place was roomy and comfortable. Lots of seating spaces if privacy was needed. Two decks and lots of windows added to the openness of the house. The downstairs bedrooms were chilly but a heater took care of that problem. We had one elderly lady in good shape so she was able to handle the stairs without a problem. But for someone with a walker it would have been difficult. The beds were comfortable. We had no children but there were lots of toys available for them. This would be a great family vacation home too.
The home was everything promised. Easy to find, check in and out, and close to where we wanted to be. Thanks, Teresa. We'll be back soon!
Our grandson really enjoyed all the toys! A nice walk to the beach and downtown Pacific City. Had a great time would highly recommend.
Property was clean and all instructions for checking in and out where clear and concise. Roku was a great bonus and so where the stuffed animals. Only issue was the lack of a bathroom downstairs which forced kids to come upstairs in the middle of the night. All in all great property at a great price in an awesome location.
The house was comfortable and clean. The kids were well occupied with the space and toys. The airstrip was an unexpected treat-we didn't think it would be used much, but we were able to see several takeoffs, landings, and one helicopter flyby!
We loved the short walk over the bridge to the beach (a little less crowded and mini dunes for the kids to explore) and the short drive over to the big sand hill and Pelican Pub & Brewery. The husbands kayaked out from this spot for fishing.
The only thing that families with young ones like ours should know is that both bathrooms are on the main level and the kids area is downstairs. The king beds came in handy when our littlest ones decided that downstairs was too far from us.
All in all, a good spot for two growing families to relax and play!
Pacific City is a great coastal getaway, especially if you want to avoid the "touristy" areas like Newport, Cannon Beach, etc. This property is located only a few minutes from the main area of Pacific City, which has several outstanding restaurants, such as the Pelican Pub, and Cape Kiwanda. Everyone around this tow is friendly and helpful. The house itself is large, plenty of space, everything you need for cooking and eating, nice outside deck, and good Wi-Fi. It was especially nice having the bench/breakfast area next to the kitchen. Since we weren't home much we didn't use other amenities such as TV, games, etc., but the foosball table was a big hit! There were only a few small negatives; the downstairs area does not stay warm very well, due to heating vents being up so high, concrete floors, no threshold to garage to block cold air, etc. There was easily about a 10 degree difference in temps between upstairs and downstairs. That may be of no worry for some, but for any of us warm weather folks it was too cold for sleeping.
I would definitely recommend this house to others!
Whale watching in season off the Cape Kiwanda.
Paddle boarding and kayaking/canoeing in the Nestucca River. Horseback riding on the beach. Beach combing and kite flying. So much fun in the surf and sand here in quaint Pacific City.
